First thing you ate when you were cleared for normal food

What was the 1st thing you had?

I am planning on 3ish gulf shrimp, pan seared with lots of garlic.

Or maybe a piece of whitefish, also seared with a dill cream sauce..

We will see how it all goes though, I am on my 1st day of very soft foods. had scrambled eggs this morning and lastnight I cheated a little and had some cottage cheese.. sofar so good.

The recommendation from my team is keep it simple at first, hold off on fancy sauces, marinades and sides. Your first solid food meals you probably won't even finish since a bite or two will fill you

soft boiled egg or soft scrambled egg (can't remember)

  • Mine was chili. It was glorious.

I just finished it. I had a 1 egg omelet with a small amt of diced mushrooms and a little fat free cheese. Tasted delicious but took almost an hour to eat.

Fresh salmon sashimi. It’s so soft and buttery and delicious. Perfect!
Omg. Sashimi (my fave is tuna) has been my reward meal for the last couple of months now.
Every 3-4 weeks, hubs takes me out to my fave sushi joint and I order the tuna and a bowl of miso soup.
I can only sip about 2-4 ounces of the soup and eat 2-3 pieces of the tuna, but it is divine and hubs gets to finish my plate for me.

I've been cleared for "stage 4" foods. Whole soft meats, semisoft cheese and increased variety of cooked veggies. I had a poached egg today for breakfast and lean ham for lunch. Will try broccoli and cheese tonight.

Tomorrow I can start soft foods and I am going to try some soft poached salmon and peas, I think. I can't wait.

Doctor told me I could try some split pea soup on Friday, I cheated and brought some to work for lunch today. Bad thing: it has small chunks of ham in it ? I’ve taken a few bites and my stomach has not yet revolted, I’m just making sure to eat slow and chew a lot.

went to a Poke bowl restaurant. Had Tuna, Salmon and the works. I think I want to celebrate my 3rd month Anniversary eating the same thing! :-)

Be careful with salmon. I’m 5 months out and it still makes me kinda queasy because of all the fat.

my Nut told me the same thing about Salmon. I am about to go into soft foods and she said Fish is ok, just avoid Salmon unless its caned.

I was just put on pureed for a month...and I haven't put much thought into what my first solid meal would be... Think I'm just scared... I don't want to over do it n gain anything back...coz all this pain would be for nothing... Im jus gonna keep it small n simple...

Tuna with some mayonnaise and hot sauce! ?

D Day is here. I am 6 weeks out and clear to eat whatever I want. I thought about good, homemade chilli but I have noticed anything spicy, ie pepper, or peppers, gives me heartburn now. I had considered sushi, but I have a feeling the wasabi may do the same thing.

For now, its a large cup of hot, black, fully caffeinated coffee

I am finishing up my fourth week post-op. I have been cheating just a little, eating chicken noodle soup or vegetable beef soup for about a week. Last night I made sloppy joes for the kids for dinner and I was able to eat about 1/2 cup of the meat without a bun with no issues and it was awesome.

Maybe you could try some mild Indian food?
