I am 9 days out from my 1 year surgiversary and I decided to re-live my 10 day pre-surgery liquid diet. (started yesterday)

My main reason is so that I never forget the struggle that got me here, but a reset, jump-start can't hurt either, right?

I'm 35lbs from my goal weight. I'm grateful for living and can't wait to see how my life continues to change as I continue to lose.

The only thing that concerns me is working out while on the liquid diet. I am in the gym 1 hour per day 6 days per week. I am getting about 105g of Protein per day. Obviously, this "memorial diet" isn't required so I'm not going to risk my health for it, but it just feels like something I need to do.

I understand the thought process but if your doing so well with what your doing why stop ?? Your body might not react the way you want it too. If anything maybe just incorporate more fluids. you shouldnt be necessarily punishing yourself with the liquid diet instead Celebrate how far youve come and just stay on the same track that has helped you too lose 100+ lbs. The liquid diet is torture to me. Im 12 days post op and I hate it so much

Every time im having trouble with my eating my sister suggests i go back to liquids only. And my reply...."I'm tired of torturing myself." Because that's what it feels like. We already can't eat but so much i might as well just go back to basic Protein first. And when i do it always works out better than going back on liquids for any amount of time. I'm just over a year and still have some pounds to lose till goal. I know i can do better some days with my diet but i just start over the next day or make up for it during the day so i don't feel SO bad. But that's just me. If you're already killing it in the gym and with your eating, dont kill your vibe and momentum with a liquid diet. I feel like it sets people up for failure sometimes.

If it feels right.. then do it! It won't hurt anything. Just make sure this is a celebratory endeavor and not some sort of self-flagellation.

I would recommend adding either low sodium v8 or coconut Water because most Protein Shakes don't provide the electrolytes you need.

If you feel badly then you can always stop and re-evaluate.

Congrats on your 1-year surgiversary!

I really don't see it as a punishment. It's a never forget moment.

Its not about jump starting, even though it would be great if it did, it's about never forgetting the sacrifice. I feel like my life now is normal. I don't feel tortured by it either.

It's definitely celebratory, I've had great success, I just don't ever want to be so far away from the struggle that I don't appreciate how the journey started.

It's also self imposed, so if something isn't right or doesn't feel right, then pass the chicken. I'm not about to hurt myself over some idea.

When you explain it that way i better understand. It makes more sense to me because im kind of sentimental like that. But im not gonna lie, i consider it from time to time to reign my eating in. It tends to get out of control. Especially around that time of the month. Always feel like i need a detox after lol.

Try changing your workout. I have 2 words, sprints and stairs. Do sprints 2x a week and stairs 3x a week. Up your Water intake and do a carb cycling rotation. When you do sprints make sure those are the days your eating carbs 35 -40 grams max. On days your doing stairs have no carbs high Protein natural meats. Not shakes but actual food. Always stretch before and after your workouts. Have your post workout Protein Shake to get the body refueling again and push yourself when your doing sprints and stairs. Like really push yourself. I promise the weight will start falling off again.

I know its a old thread, but what were your sprints and stairs routines like? How many, how long. etc.?

I did 15 min sprints 3 days a week. Sprint 10 sec walk 45 seconds then I slowly worked my way up to 20 second sprints.

Same with stairs 3x a week. Started walking up and down the stairs for 10 min then worked my way up to 15 min then 30 min then 45 min over time. By the time I worked my way up to 15 min i was able to run up and down the stairs 10 min straight. Eventually I was doing 45 min of non-stop stair running. Great workout and burns some major calories while building muscle.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
