not sure if I am in the correct forum and if not, please direct me..I had my surgery Oct.3rd and am having problems with my diet-am still on clear liquid diet so I am drinking muscle milk light 3-4 times a day for protein and broth and water in between. can't drink the powdered drinks as they taste too sweet for me and I am hungry!!! I have been on the liquids for almost 5 weeks now and it is getting hard to be creative with such limited choices..tomorrow is my 2 wk post-op and am looking forward to pureed foods and other then the 5 lbs lost after surgery I am staying the same-getting discouraged though. :-(

Hi all! I should really post this on the vets forum since I had my surgery almost two years ago, but it won't let me post there because I need to have at least 100 post!!! which of course I don't have. I had my sugery in Nov 2011, almost 2 years ago! I got pregnant in October 2012. I gained every single pound+ back I could not believe how much I was able to eat, and the worst thing is that my doctor was ok with that!!!! I strugle and asked for help, but I was told not to worry about it! I had my baby this year July 2013. Not even two weeks after I had him I lost 30lbs. I have not lost anything else after that. I still have to loose another 25lbs to be back to my initi…

Just wanted to share in case anyone's looking. That's the best price I have found.

I'm currently doing some low calorie experimenting and have found my emotions are right at the surface. This could just be a coincidence, but I think I've noticed it before in previous low cal stints, I'm crying, laughing, and angry at the slightest provocation. Anyone else notice a change in their emotions when they drastically change their diet?

Alternate title: How I Shat Myself Sooo, you know that little statement on sugar free candy that says something to the effect of "excessive consumption may have a laxative effect"? I implore you to take it seriously, people. I never really ate much sugar free candy pre surgery, but I'm absolutely certain that I've had more than a single serving at any one time in the past, just by the nature of some of my historic eating habits. I've recently developed a penchant for the Jelly Belly Sours. They come in a little bag that is labeled as 2 servings (80 cal per). Yesterday, I was a bit low on my calorie count for the day and was just craving the dang things, so I didn't se…

I'm 10 weeks post-op and I'm still trying to get a grip on the proper way to eat. I have lost 40 pds but seem to be stuck. I find I can easily get in 1000 calories a day. Then I exercise bringing my net to about 750 to 800 a day. Can someone give me some ideas of ur menus for the day eating low carb. Also if u eat low carb do u worry about calories?

Hey Everyone, I'm looking for a good pre workout(weightlifting) meal. Because of my current living situation, I have to rely heavily on my Protein shakes and frozen dinners. Normally I would skip the carbs totally but I started weightlifting with a trainer. I'm just wondering if Weight Watchers Smart Ones Steel Cut oatmeal would be a smart choice? Thanks! :-)

Ok guys, there are about a gazillion Protein bars on the market, and let's be realistic, the majority are just glorified candy bars. So this begs the question, has anyone found some exceptional Protein Bars for a Meal Replacement on the go that they would like to share? What is the best taste/protein content/lowest calorie/and most natural ingredients that you have tried? Also, has anyone tried to make their own yet? I'm thinking about playing around with some recipes and seeing what I can come up with :-)

An interesting combination of steel oats and muscle milk lite cake batter tastes like eating sugar cookie dough. Yum! 1/2 cup cooked steel oats 1/2 tbsp Water (more or less depending on desired consistency) 2 scoops (25 g) - add a scoop if you want more Protein I like to mix it with a spoon until powder is mostly mixed in (still a dusting on the surface of oatmeal). I mix it enough to keep cookie dough size balls. You can always add a little more water and mix it completely for typical oatmeal consistency.

Hi ladies. I have a quick question. Has anyone tried those whey protein shots? They look like those 5 hour energy shots but a longer tube. It says it has 42g of protein and I'm wondering if I could just drink that to make sure I get all my protein in then drinking all the shakes? I'm so confused about my liquid pre op diet..I've got jello, broth and shakes but idk if that is all im limited too for the next 2 weeks. Also, how is the time determined. Some only have to do 1 week or 3 day liquid before surgery and not the 2 week?

My life has gone topsy turvey in the last couple of months personally, but professionally its gone great. So great in fact I have no time to sit and eat properly and now I've gain weight. I blame no one but myself ... but now I have to get back on track .... but how? What's a good diet/plan to follow when sleeved? I still get full fast ... but I'm grazing. HELP!!!!!!!

Has anyone else tried these? I really like them. They are exclusive to Wal Mart and can be found on the cereal aisle with the breakfast bars. They are $3.88 for a box of five. A little high in carbs, but not terrible. Per bar: 210 calories, 14g carbs, 7g sugar, 21g of protein. They also have a Double Chocolate and a Chocolate Mint flavor. I enjoy them all, but the Peanut Butter is my favorite.

I'm 16 days out, and I'm very confused. At this point I'm supposed to eat 2 meals of shakes and 1 soft meal for weeks 3 & 4. The soft meal should be 3 oz containing 20 gms of protein. On day 15 I had tuna which was easy because 3 oz contains roughly 20 gms. My guidebook had an example of a good meal ... 2 eggs with 1 slice of cheese, which equals 20 grams. But it came to 6 oz, so I only ate 1/2 of it. What I dont understand is how to get 20 gms in only 3 oz. Am I missing something here?

I'm no expert, I'm only 6 months post-op, but I've been thinking about this whole hair loss ordeal that so many WLS people go through. Mine has been very minimal thus far, just a very small amount of extra shedding. This was a very big fear of mine in the beginning because my hair is rather fine to begin with. Is it possible that a lot of people start losing their hair at the 3-6 month mark because that is when we stop drinking Protein shakes? I've never stopped and I wonder if that has helped. I faithfully take my Vitamins also. I don't take oral Biotin at all. I've been using Organix shampoo with biotin and collagen since early post-op. Like I said, I'm no ex…

Hi all, I'm pre-op and looking at what my RDA's will be after surgery. Please weigh in and tell me what your RDA's are for cals, fat, protein & carbs. If any of you track your diaries on My Fitness Pal, and want another buddy on there, please give me your name and I'll send you a friend request! I need as much info as I can get, and they allow me to manually enter my nutrition goals. Thanks!!

Hi all....I'm contemplating getting sleeved. I've read all the horror stories of the excruciating pain,to hardly no pain after surgery. I've read some people only able to eat 2-3 ounces to 6-8 ounces. Well is there someone that can post a picture of what the "actually" eat in a meal setting? Thanks a bunch!

I stumbled upon a pretty tasty treat when I combined 1/2 cup Fage 2% Greek yogurt with 1/4 scoop of Syntrax Cappuccino Protein Powder. The tangyness of the Greek yogurt paired perfectly against the cappuccino Protein powder and actually made it taste like creamy mascarpone cheese. Topped with a sprinkle of cocoa powder, it makes a pretty delicious Breakfast.
