Woo-hoo!!!!!!! The scale gods smiled on me today!! hee hee!! Down 4 lbs total. But better than that I feel back in control. I am excited about eating right. I have actually been craving healthy foods. Yesterday I had 2 scrambled eggs for Breakfast a Fit Frappe mid morning and you would think I would be tired but no...I had the best 5K run this year breaking a new record for myself. lunch was salmon, dinner I cheated and went to a firm protien and had chicken. I spent some time on this site and have learned more about this 5:2 plan that some of the veteran's follow. I really like the idea and think it fits with my lifestyle. Basically the two liquid days I had e…

My doc (not surgeon) just prescribed a steroid dose pack for me b/c of my back but he mentioned possible weight gain! Well that's the last thing i want! Has anybody had to take something like this? I am debating if I should just wait out the pain and skip the meds or take a chance but I would freak if I gained weight!

I am going into 6 weeks out I can eat 3/4 cup homemade chili...I can eat 2.8 ounces of tuna with lite mayo along with 10 thin triscuts. I have been tracking and I'm averaging about 600 to 700 calories a day. I can even eat a whole pro choice protein bar with no problem. I haven't lost weight n a week as a matter fact I gained 3pounds. I get most my water in at least 50 oz a day. I do good on protein most days anywhere to 45 to 80 but that day was a 1000 calorie day..

Yesterday was harder than the first day. I really feel for the newly sleeved on the all liquid diet. I forgot how hard it is. I had 3 protien shakes and several cups of chicken broth. The scale went down 1 lb this morning however, my rings are super tight and I'm holding lots of Water because of the sodium in that chicken broth. I'm pretty sensitive to salt so I can put on water weight easily. The good - I feel in control!!!! I feel so much better. I woke up this morning feeling energized. I ran and hit a PR (personal record) of a pace 11:47 avg mile for my 3.11 mile run. I am pumped about that. Then I got to work early and ate a scrambed egg at my desk. Ahh…

Hi Everyone Was wondering if anybody has experience with Chia Seeds? Do you use milled or whole? How do you use them? Have they had a positive impact towards your nutrition macros? I was reading a bit of research on them earlier and think nutrition wise they seem to have lots of benefits. Just not sure how to incorporate them.. The recipe I saw and that was very non specific said chia seeds soaked overnight, coconut cream, and a sprinkle of cocoa nibs. To top it there was a juicy raspberry on top. Looked delicious, and right up my street! I'm cleared to eat seeds etc so there are no issues there. Many thanks for your input in advance -

I decided to do that 5 day pouch test I've heard about over the years. I don't think for a minute that my pouch is "broken" but I've heard from others that this 5 day plan gets you mentally and physically back on track and since I've gained 20 lbs over the past couple of years I figured I needed to try it. I've noticed over the past year I have a bad binge cycle. I eat well for a few days and then go crazy. This probably scares the new sleeve patients and it should....bad habits lurk around the corner and our sleeve is a tool only not a miracle cure. Anyway, I am now an endurance athlete cycling long distances and running half marathons so I eat ALOT. I should ch…

I started pureed foods today and my husband went shopping for me and came home with Laughing Cow. I have never tried the stuff before. OMG!!! How do you eat just one?!?! I'm sure part of it is just the sheer joy of having something other than Soup or Jello in my mouth but it is absolutely heaven and we've only been able to find the plain stuff so far. I think I'm going to enjoy this part of the diet. (That and I was *so* sick of everything tasting SWEET. Give me SAVORY!!!) I'm a happy girl tonight! Now if only my antibiotics didn't taste so ghastly. Ah, well. I'll save myself a laughing cow for after.

I am almost afraid to ask this for fear of being chastised by the sleeve police.... but due to my profession I spend a tremendous amount of time in my car and stay on the road for several days. I have been packing a small cooler with Protein shakes, Protein Bars, Water, tuna packs etc. I have been stopping at grocery stores for meals and getting things like deli meat, cheese, egg salad, etc. Problem is most grocery stores are not near interstates so occasionally due to time constraints I need to eat at a (gasp) fast food restaurant. Soooooo that being said.... What are some "good" (or at least tolerable) fast food choices? All I've come up with so far is: Small Wen…

Hey y'all! I'm only 7 days post-op, but I'm making myself a food journal to have bound so that I can carry it with me everywhere. I also have MFP, but I love to write things down and see patterns! I'm an OCD list maker!!!! In my food log, which nutritional facts are the most important to track? Right now, I have listed: CALORES, CARBS, Proteins, FAT, & SUGARS. Are any of those not necessary or somewhat unimportant? When I come to a stall, I want to be able to look back and see where the intake numbers have changed to help me get out of the stall. I just don't want to waste time counting sugars if its really not a necessity, you know?

I used to love eggs! Now I can't stand the taste of them! I thought I'd try some the other day and couldn't stand the taste then. So I waited again today and thought mmmm maybe with some cheese! Still a no go! I'm on pureed foods but this was one that I could have that wouldn't be pureed. Oh well - eggs off the list! I have been making a pureed chicken salad and it is such a hit in my house I am lucky to get any! Tomorrow I will try Atlantic Cod. Does anyone have any recipe suggestions? No one likes this so it could be all mine! lol

I'm in my 7th week post-op. I recently discovered an intolerance to dairy (milk, whey, etc.) and eggs. My first 5 weeks of cottage cheese, yogurt, and whey Protein had me in a worsening dizzy brain fog. Once I gave that up, my brain and energy felt much better. I can't really eat that much, so I'm not getting enough protein. Egg protein powders make me feel woozy, too. Soy protein concerns me (I'm a male and Soy can give me too much estrogen, so I've heard) and Brown Rice protein is plain ol' undrinkable. shakes were my snack, I didn't have to give up drinking for an hour to have them, and they have me the protein my 6"1' frame needs. I lost twice as much as u…

I am finding lots of foods my Sleevilla will tolerate but not many that sit there and make everything feel all peaceful and happily satisfied except beans and crab. Is it humanly possible to just eat these two things? (Not really serious, but kind of.) What foods make your sleeve happiest? I know my tolerance will grow, but I seem to be stuck in the soft food stage.

I am considering gastric bypass. One concern is that I'm very likely to overeat when the wrong foods are in the house. Have regained 90 pounds lost through diet since my remarriage a few years ago. My husband is.supportive, naturally slim, but loves to have goodies and starches available. How do some of you.manage to eat so differently without frustration, conflict, or failure to lose and maintain that loss? This scares me...meals have been my responsibility since he works full time. Thanks for any advice on this!

Hello everyone! Went to the doctor for my 3 week follow-up this morning and everything checked out fine! He cleared me for everything and I feel good (except when I eat of course. Still getting "the slimes" pretty bad). Anyway, I'm back to work and life and everything else now, and wondered if you guys had any suggestions of Snacks and/or meals to take. I know I need to eat pretty frequently, but I don't always have a fridge or microwave to use. What are some of your "go-to" snack and work lunches? Thanks for the suggestions!

My family loves homemade pizza!! But the carbs are of course not good for us fellow bypassers, so I tried the cauliflower pizza crust. I must say it was amazing!!! It's filling, flavorful, low carb and low calorie!! It was a winner!!! I put a little sauce, some low sodium ham, beef, onions, bell peppers, and low fat cheese! I didn't even miss the crust!! As a matter of fact, we went to a local pizza place tonight for a party and I ate 1 very small piece of cheese pizza thin crust...I have felt yucky ever since!! This cauliflower crust will be my new go too!! My kids and dad were just pulling it apart eating the crust with no topping!! If you haven't tried it and you miss …

He gave me some medicine for that but he also asked me about my calorie intake which I told him it's 600-750 he said its too low I need to eat 1000-1200 a day. More now that I'm thinking at the gym. Now I have a hard time eating 750cals as is can't imagine what to eat to get me to 1200cal He also put be back at eating every 2hrs no exceptions. Can someone that is eating that much give me an example of their menus please.... Thank you all :-)

My goal is 80 grams daily. But how much is too much? I know body builders that ingest 300 - 400 grams daily - egad! I do not aspire to be a body builder. Just want to know if there is a recommended maximum for sleevers?

I was originally to have surgery at banner gateway but had to reschedule @ scottsdale. Was to have clear diet, then full liquid, pureed, soft... But @scottsdale, at week one they want you eating soft and you can start veggies and fruit and 80 grams protein. Tried that yesterday and my bladder has rebelled. Could hardly per today. I think it's too much too fast. I drank water with lemon today. Took a couple of cranberry capsules and went back to broth. I gained 4 lbs! Obviously it is water weight but Suresh!

We are traveling to Jamaica next week, and I am trying to think of easy things that we can pack in our luggage for meals when we are in transit or at the resort and don't want to spend an arm and a leg at the restaurants. I was thinking some Quest bars, some Protein shake packets. Anything else? What travels well? We are staying on a resort for a work trip and there is no way to get off of the resort for a grocery store. It is all inclusive, so I guess room service could help, but I am not sure. There are some planned meals/dinners and Breakfast is served everyday.
