I just bought my first package of tofu (I bought the firm type) but I don't know how to fix it. I know that what ever it is mixed with it picks up those flavors. Other than that, I'm lost. I will start the purée stage this week and decided now would be a good time to explore new food options. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I love Beans and have read that manysleevers eat them post op in soft phase. They have so many carbs though. Even when you subtract out the Fiber the carbs are usually high 20, 30 or mor grams. Is this ok?

I measure amounts but hit the cramp long before by designated three ounces are in there. How do you know when to stop?

Everyone knows these are not healthy. Cook your own meat and slice it up. I know lunch meats and jerky are easy and I get why they are allowed (the assumption that none of us can eat correctly and to re-educate out habits) but the chemicals and nitrates in this stuff is terrible. Boars head all natural turkey is fine. Also Perky Jerky is ok, no nitrates or fillers at all. Get healthy, not just skinny! Stay healthy, not just thin.

I have my protein shakes for at home chosen, but I'd like to also have a stock of "grab-and-gos", ready for when I'm on the run, especially since I work nights and will be in college full time!! I live in a very small town and would prefer to buy in store vs online. I have a gnc and a Walmart, other then that its pretty limited. Thanks!

Looking for some group thoughts since it's the weekend and surgeon's office is closed. I took omeprazole twice a day for 4 weeks post surgery, finishing up two days ago. Since then I've noticed more gurgly, acidy feelings. Of course I also transitioned to pureed food, which could be muddying the issue. But I'm feeling nauseous too. Would it hurt to take one pill a day, you think? Just to make a gradual transition to full acid production ... What are others doing? I've never taken the stuff before so don't have a good idea of normal results with it. TIA! Lisa

I am always on the hunt to make yummy, yet Protein packed dishes for my wife since her surgery on July 1. Tonight we are having Health Nachos before watching some football! Ingredients: - Ground turkey - Spices - Beanitos chips (4g of protein for 12 small chips, no sugar, 140 calories) - Fat free refried Beans - some fresh salsa - Fat free mexican cheese - Fat free sour cream I am assuming for her small portion, we are looking at at least 35 grams of protein. Plus it will be yummy!! I am excited for her. I think this might be a football season staple

For anyone trying to do a low carb/high Protein diet, whether pre or post op, these meals are heaven sent! They are in the deli area and they have 20 to 30 different varieties. They include chicken permasen, bbq chicken, beef fillet, pancakes, omelettes, fish tacos and lots more. They all include the main meat or protein, veggies, and a side like potatoes, rice, or noodles. They all vary in calories, carbs, and protein but most are about 400 calories, 20 carbs, and 40 protein. They are about 10oz each so bariatric patients can eat one throughout the day. They range from $5.50 to $8.00 each. These meals taste great. I am still on liquids but my 14 year old…

I had my sleeve 12-jun-13. I have only lost 40 lbs. because I have not been able to exercise. I was so dehydrated, I was having dizziness, low b/p and fell-getting staples in my head after passing out and falling on the tile flood. .My cardiologist changed my meds a few times times over the phone-no results. Went to an appointment, found out I was dehydrated. Dr. Advised me to drink coconut water, within 3 days I felt better than I have in a month. If you are dehydrated coconut water is the best better than Gatorade, only draw back it is quite pricey.

My surgery was on 8/6. I have moved into the soft phase of eating foods and increasing the Water intake. I have no problem drinking water, although the quantity is a lot right now as far as how much I can handle at once. I am having a very hard time not talking normal or even big drinks of water. I drank a lot of water before surgery and now I pick up the bottle of water and find myself drinking it as I used to. Does anyone else drink as they used to post op and just looking for any words of advice. Am I risking damage to my stomach or staple line 22 days out of surgery?? Thanks All..... Joan

  41. Alright. I am seriously confused. Maybe putting this out here will only add to my confusion, but I desperately need SOME kind of clarification before I lose my mind. PROTEIN: What kind, what source, what... what.... WTH??!?! What I've learned so far in the bariatric world is that getting your daily Protein intake (especially post-op) from anything but whey isolate is a NO-NO, because only whey isolate gives you all the complete EAA's (essential amino acids) needed by the body. True or false? Collagen, casein, soy = BAD, because they don't fully supply all the EAA's even though they do supply other aminos. True or false? From my very personal experience, I witnesse…

I was wondering what various nutritionists and surgeons have said about Protein requirements. I'm 7 weeks out today and am on a regular diet. My nut said we should be getting between 60 and 80 grams a day. She said for a smaller woman, the goal is closer to 60. I'm 5'3" and a woman. I usually hit between 60 and 70 grams a day, without any supplementation. The reason I ask is because it seems like lots of people have higher requirements.

I usually do at least one race a year but I am already on my 3rd with 2 maybe 3 more this year to come. I am actually riding Expert (level below pro/elite) which is far past my expectations. Between the gym and riding with only 1 off day a week my fitness level has sky rocketed since surgery. God bless the sleeve!!
