  1. I was sleeved May 2012 and am now going for celiac testing. I have had the signs for years (but liked my food way to much to give it up then:( but since being sleeved my symptoms have gotten way way worse ( losing enamel on my teeth, ibs, bloating, high blood sugars, high cholesterol and of course inability to lose any more weight). I tried going glueten free about 6 yrs ago when there were fewer choices, so it didn't last long. Anyone have advice or tips on what is best to eat to get the most out of nutrition. I have reached my goal size and just had plastics done, so I'm not worried about losing much more than 10lbs. But need to find ways to eat to bring my sugar…

This morning was my 2nd day on soft solids. I made 3 small (whole)eggs with softened bell pepper and onion and a little mild salsa on the side. I figured I wouldn't be able to eat all but I have no clue how much I can actually eat. I ended up eating a little over half and stopped as soon as I felt any signs of being full. This seems like a lot..I have read about those who can only eat two teaspoons.. Yet I don't feel any discomfort at all..I just don't want to be doing anything wrong. Do the amounts vary from person to person? or should I be restricting more on my own? My doctors list on what to eat and not eat is minimal..so I feel a little lost.

I am just over 7 weeks out and had been dying for a salad. While I was out running errands my dad asked me to stop and get him a subway sandwich. While I was ordering his sandwich I noticed the chopped salad sign. They put what you want in a big giant salad bowl and then chop it up into little pieces with this big hand blade. It's perfect! I ordered spinach with turkey breast, bell pepper, onion, olives and banana peppers with vinegar instead of dressing. It's awesome. It's kind of big I finished maybe a third of it.

Ok so I am starting my 6th week and I have a ton of almond milk left over from my cream of wheat days. The nurses at my doctors office aren't awesome about answering the phone or calling you back. So has anyone tried a little bowl of cereal yet? I know most cereal is junk but has anyone tried the kashi or Special K cereals with protein in them?

Those are the only two meats I have limitations on at this point. That is what we are cooking for labor day. I did buy chicken for myself...because I wasn't sure. What do yall think?

I was addicted to Chick Fil A. Since being sleeved on 7/18/2013, I have been jonesing for one of their sandwiches. But, oy, the fat and calories! Fear not fellow addicts, I found a delicious substitute at Trader Joe's - Gardein Crispy Chick'n Sliders. Each slider has 190 calories with 6g fat and 11g Protein. And they are great. Satisfy the need for crispy. These are a good choice

Not purely raw, I love my meat! But does anyone eat "raw"? If not, there are a bunch of very cool raw websites/blogs that have the neatest recipes that use really cool clever ways of substituting healthful foods for junk. A few examples include spiral cutting zucchinis to make them look like noodles, instead of eating pure carb pasta, and "not fish" *fried* fishsticks, and low carb gluten-free "burger patties" or "taco" salad. Anyway, curious to find out if any other sleevers are interested in eating this way, if you already are, and how that's working out for you ...

So my first post got so many interesting answers that I couldn't wait to post again!!!! So I have a question for those of you who have been sleeved and have gotten to the point that you are eating solids again. I have heard from many that your taste for certain foods changes. Some things that you may not have liked before you may like now. I am sure this question has been asked before but... does anyone want to share their experience if this has happened? And if it has what foods did you find you liked more or liked less than before? Can't wait to hear the responses!

I'd highly recommend you begin using Morton Lite Salt if you aren't already. It has a good amount of potassium, which will help to keep your water weight down. Try it for a week. Even if you don't have a meal where you would use salt, pour a small amount in the palm of your hand and eat it once per day. It will also help if you are having leg cramps or headaches.

Hi everyone ! Im 3 weeks post-op and craving spicy food ! Especially buffalo chicken ! Is it bad to have spicy foods ? I dont remember my doctor ever mentioning this but my mom who had the surgery about 15 years ago said it was bad for me. Does anybody know ? ALSO, im at the gound foods stage. I have to measure 3oz of ground meat plus 1/4cup of mashed potatoes. Does anybody know if its okay for me to add like the broth over the meat to make it moist ? Bc i figured 3oz and thats it no adding anymore not even the broth.

I've been struggling with dehydration for the last few weeks. I had a kink (fixed with endoscopy last week) and some torsion in my sleeve (can't really do much else about that until I'm fully healed, so I need to wait it out a little longer). This is creating difficulty getting enough fluids to prevent dehydration. I got 4 liters of iv fluid last week. I'm refluxing when I swallow and my sleeve is taking it's sweet time to empty of fluid after drinking, causing some mild to moderate nausea when I drink (though I have so far been able to breathe through it and haven't actually vomited). The last couple days, I have managed to get about 40oz of fluid. I periodically watch t…

I just saw a recipe on Racheal Ray's show by Rocco Dispirito, the "pasta" is high in protein because it is made with chicken, and it looks so easy! Can't wait to try it! All he did was put ice in a blender, added cubed Frozen chicken breast an egg white powder. When he blended it all together it turns into a paste and he put it in a squeeze bottle. He had water boiling already (with salt) and he turned the burner off and started squeezing the chicken paste into the hot water in swirls and it looks exactly like spaghetti!! The recipe is not up on the website yet but as soon as I see it I will add a link. I just had to share... I'm so excited about this recipe

Hi everyone. I recently had my surgery so I am in NO WAY ready for anything on the "do not have" list but I find myself craving diet soda every single day and it makes me think about my future. I was told I can never have soda again and when I researched I found carbonation was one of the reasons why. That and it could be a "slippery slope" back to overweight-ville. Have any of you had diet soda since surgery? How does it make you feel? Can you "de-carbonate" the soda and it will be better on the sleeve? I used to drink 2 cans every single day for years (I know... how unhealthy) so it's weird. I can imagine living my life with modified "favorite foods" but I can't ima…

  45. Save the best bite for FIRST because it's highly unlikely I will get to eat it if I save it for last! I "blame" a lot of my weight issues on my previous tendency to make big luscious meals, pile my plate high and then save the best bites for last, ensuring that I will clean my plate. I've always done this, from my first PB&J (eat around the crust first, from the driest bottom side, all the way around the edge to the squishy under butt of the crust and then circling around to the fattest middle filled with squishy deliciousness), to a pan of brownies (eat all the gooey, slightly under baked middle first, saving the crispy edges for last). In my pre-op life I was trying to cut down on artificial sweeteners and just avoid sugary drinks by drinking water, tea, etc. Now I feel inundated with 'sugar free' and I don't like the taste and I don't really want to add artificial sweeteners back into my life. I'm still in clear fluids so I've been doing watered down juice, Gatorade, tea but I want to have regular Popsicles and jello (within normal limits- like 1-2 servings total daily.) any thoughts or anyone else not using 'sugar free'?
