Hello everyone I am from the sleeve forum and since they combined everything I figured a topic I started over there would also help out here. I am making a list of companies that will send out free samples to anyone that requests them. Here is the link: http://www.bariatric...g-free-samples/ The list is growing as I fine and others fine new companies willing to give out free samples. This is great for new people and anyone wanting to try some new things without spending the money to do so. Hope it helps a few people.

  3. Hi guys, I thought I would post this thread for others like me that are getting contradicting information from the assigned Dietician. I want to be as successful as possible on this diet. Well I guess I shouldn't say diet because it's going to be a lifelong thing but, my questions don't ever seem to be answered and the only thing that I have been told is to stay away from carbs and eat Protein. But then it doesn't make much sense when they promote Adkins bars or other Protein Bars and they have 20 something are grams of carbs and then… It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I would rather get more quality carbs or quality protein. I know different doctors say different t…

I like coffee. Never been more than two cups a day, but lately I've been drinking 2-3 shot 12oz latte's half in the morning and half in the afternoon. It's the only caffeine I drink and hardly have an issue cutting out the caffeine. My problem is finding a hardy decaf coffee that imparts good flavor in the grocery stores. Any help would be appreciated.

It’s here already, the grocery store aisles filled with a dozen kinds of cookie mixes and holiday breads, candy canes and chocolate santas, fruit cakes and eggnog, chocolate oranges and marzipan, hot mulled wine, catalogs filled with gourmet baskets and all sorts of treats. Help! I don’t want to eat this stuff. I’ve had 52 holiday seasons to stuff my face, it’s OK to miss this one. Please give me some support to get through this difficult time without giving in to my food addiction. I’m afraid if I start I won’t stop. Thank you friends!

I really don't like meat or eggs. I never have. After being being sleeved I dislike meat even more. That being said I don't know how to get my protein in. Cottage Cheese and Yogurt are tolerable, but boy that gets boring. I have refried nonfat beans almost everyday, and protein shakes. I am almost 4 weeks out & starting "real" food. Any suggestions? Have any of you tried quinoa after being sleeved?

I will be 15 days post op tomorrow and I go for my two week check up. I lost 17lbs thus far but I stalled out this week with only losing maybe 2lbs at the most. I blame it on not being as active as I was last week. However my question is according to my post op packet I was given I will be given the go ahead tomorrow (if all goes well) for the soft food stage. Any ideas or suggestions on meals? I see tuna and flaky fish as one of the items anything else. I am also confused do I eat 3 meals a day or little small meals thru out the day? I know I can ask at my appt tomorrow however I would like to get some feed back from my fellow sleevers on what worked for you.

  12. I had surgery 5 days ago and I am having a really tough time not only getting in fluids but definitely nutrients. The protein shakes, the gummy vitamins, the yogurt, the applesauce... Everything is so sweet! My new tummy doesn't seem to like it and it all leaves such a nasty after taste in my mouth. Anybody have salty or spicy food suggestions? I am on full liquids.

  14. 6 days post op and feeling better. Those post op blues were intense! I hope that is over! I'm craving a cup of coffee today, but know it might not be good on my pouch. I think I'm missing the morning habit of something warm and yummy. I tried decaf green tea yesterday and that did not go well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I need some help here. I was banded on October 4th, 2013. I had my first fill on Nov. 6th. I am always hungry. I don't know what I need to do. Maybe I need to drink more Water in between meals, I just don't know. I felt a slight resriction right after the fill, but nothing now. I know my doctor said it might take 2-3 fills to start feeling the restriction.. He told me not to eat between meals, but I am hungry. Is it ok to eat fruit or veggies between meals? Or any other suggestions would be great. Thanks

I KNOW I can always order anything on the menu and ask they bring a to go box at the beginning..... However I want to take advantage of my "I can order children's menu items " card.... So please share with me what restaurants have good children's menus. Like I know Joe's Crab Shack has a children's crab pot, but a lot of other restaurants have chicken fingers and hot dogs.... Can I please have your input as to what restaurants have children's menus that reflect the rest of their food?

Hi, I am 6 weeks post op and I am unsure on whether I am getting enough calories on a daily basis. I usually have: meal #1 - 1 cup of oatmeal, 120 cal meal #2 - 6oz. yoplait light yogurt, 90 cal meal #3 - 4oz. del monte peaches, 60 cal meal #4 - 1/3 cup deli sliced turnkey, 150 cal meal #5 - 4oz. filet of salmon, 150 cal under 600 calories on a heavy eating day. All liquids are Water, I am not doing any Protein drinks at this time. (is this my answer?) I am at that stage where I can start exercising again and the last thing I want to do is pass out in the gym. Thoughts? Suggestions? misspelled calories, that's embarrassing!

Hi I am still probably a month to 2 months away from being sleeved, however I am trying to start now eating better and less. I was just wondering if anyone else out there is doing the same thing or did that a month or 2 before the pre-op liquid diet? I have been doing just ok with it. I get this feeling every afternoon like my body aches almost like I am getting a cold and I am wondering if anyone else has had that feeling, wondering if it is like some withdraw from the amount of foods I am eating or maybe because it is different healthier types of food? Any suggestions or experiences will be appreciated.

I am looking for some good detox recipes out there. Soups. smoothies. I'd like to stay as organic as possible withe recipes. I am still losing steadily, however, incorporating certain goods back into my like has awakened the sleeping dragon and I'd like to focus on lulling her back to sleep. I think several days of dedicated detoxing in a healthy nutrient rich way would be best. In addition to kickstarting a detox regimine, I would like to cut back, and ultimately eliminate, caffeine. I've stocked up on my decaff green tea.

Hello everyone! So I'm coming up to my 1 year anniversary very quickly (surgery date was 12-12-12) and I'm at goal weight. I've never been able to get down more than 850 calories in a day and I'm wondering what in the heck am I going to do to get to the 1200 calorie maintenance mark?? Also I think it's kinda funny but I live with mfp app in my hand. If I have food in front of me I have the app open on my phone. I know I'm a little obsessed but I also have OCD so I'm not too terribly worried about that part. I'm more concerned with what people do for maintenance mode? Food choices, calorie intake, work outs etc. Thanks for the help guys!

It has smoothie, ice cream, and Soup settings. You can make homemade Soups, purees and other creations in seconds. Toss some roasted chicken and almond milk with roasted red peppers and herbs for an amazing soup made in 90 seconds! Freeze for weekday meals! So easy! I'm serious, he made an "ice cream" which had: banana, spinach, plain coconut milk and ice - it was amazing and thick and totally healthy! No added sugar. 47. If someone has already posted this - sorry for the duplication. I just discovered a candy called Ice chips. Omg sooo good, and it is made with xylitol. I was in the local healthfood store, and I thought I would get some licorice as a treat, because I knew someone once who was type I diabetic, and she ate licorice because it was low glycemic. I am not diabetic but am staying away from sugar for obvious reasons. Well, the licorice I found....I did not like what I saw on the nutrition label. Then Licorice Ice Chips caught my eye. I was chewing some SF gum today and then drank some BCAA powder drink at same time. It tasted like donkey dung. Literally. I am not using hyperbole. Really bizarre. I went to work out and then tried the drink again. It was sweet as remembered. Why does SF gum mess around with the sweet receptors in the mouth? Very strange. I think this would help people who struggle with a sweet tooth. Chew some SF gum before eating Cookies, cake or ice cream and those will taste like like crap. Right? Anyone else experience this and know the anatomical reason for it?

  49. Do you guys count or care about these calories? For example, true lemon has 5 cals per packet. If drinking a gallon of Water a day, hypothetically, and you add 2 per 32 oz, again hypothetically, then that adds up to an extra 40 cal a day. Not a big deal and it has not ever affected my weight. What do you think?
