What are you planning on making/having for Christmas dinner? Will you just have some turkey and call it good? Will you experiment with high Protein dishes? So far, we are providing a turkey and that's what I will mostly eat. I'm making a quinoa dish with unjury cheese Sauce. I'm making a Waldorf salad with greek yogurt. And brussel sprouts with bacon and parmesean cheese. Our friends are making the dishes I can't/won't eat....mashed potatoes, stuffing, pies.

Which is not good cause its adding more carbs to my day than Protein... But pineapple is making my body sing with enjoyment (ate 5 small cubes of it over a four hour period yesterday) I thought I was doing good on protein but carbs (mostly from fruit) are still number one, apparently I am in the market for additional tweaking. Is fruit the devil now? Should I be labeling it as just sugar and Water and not consuming it?

Anyone has or had problems drinking reduced sugar drinks? My body and mind can't take the artificial flavors anymore it makes me sick. One sip of anything diet makes me nauseous makes me wanna throw up. I've since started drinking regular drink and diluting them to avoid dumping and 8 ounce amounts to avoid in taking too many calories. Seems to be working for me.

Hi all! Before I was sleeved my go to drink was water. I loved the taste and refreshing feeling. But since being sleeved (12/9/13), I cannot stand the taste of water. It leaves a horrible after taste and sort of tastes bitter. Weird! Anyone else have this happen? I'm trying to get my water in, and so I'm drinking it but not liking it! I'm really not into crystal lite or artificial flavouring as they have aspartame in them. Any suggestions for alternatives would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!

Just wondering what everyone's solutions are to beat the horrible and nasty dreaded stall. I stalled at week 5 and then again at week 11(this time it was for about a little over a week). Both times I just stuck to my regular plan with food and exercise and got out of it. Just looking for suggestions for the next time. Thanks guys!!

Hi all, Please visit these four threads and add your favorite and most reliable foods and recipes during each phase of the post-op diet after the sleeve. Links to recipes you found elsewhere would be great too. This is the number one question asked by new pre-ops and post-ops and we would like to have lists available to them. These threads can be found in Main Gastric Sleeve Forums -> food and Nutrition -> Pre-op and Post-op Diets, and they are pinned so they are easy to find. Thanks for your help! http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/292196-staple-foods-for-pre-op/ http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/292197-staple-foods-for-the-liquid-phase-phase-1/ http://www…

Had surgery 12/2 and invited my niece and nephew over for a sleepover. I should have prepared in advance as I had nothing in my cabinets to feed them but Soups, Beans and protein! So, we ordered pizza and I made the decision to have one slice for dinner. It was delicious and I still finished my day under 600 calories. My Protein intake was low as I didn't have my usual Protein Drink at night due to being full. Now I'm starting to worry that this was a bad decision and my first step on a slippery slope. Is it possible to enjoy a treat now and again and still be diligent about my diet?

Has anyone noticed when they increase their calories occasionally they actually lose weight? I have been in a stall for about a month now. Yesterday I ate more than I normally would have (still not a lot by normal standards) and when I got on the scale this morning I had lost 3 lbs. just wondering if anyone else he noticed this when increasing calories on occasion?

So tomorrow i technically start mushies foods. Today i did very good around my wifes italian family i stuck with my yogurts and protein. Since i start mushies tomorrow i ate some ricotta cheese filling and sauce from the stuffed shells. It was delicious and made me feel like a real person again. I actually ate something valid. I know some of u are going to bash me because i did it a day early and maybe cheese wasnt the best way to go but if u were around that table today u would have seen it as a win as well. Merry christmas everyone!

Dear sleevers, I thought of starting this new thread and please let me know if its already somewhere here on the forum. I got sleeved in Sept this year and though things have been fantastic the festival season is bringing its own challenges. Workplace is now filled with chocolates, cookies and mince pies. There are are at least 3-4 parties each of us has to attend till the 25 th and that adds more pressure. As most of us have struggled with saying no to food all our life i wondered if we could make this thread as a bank of information with techniques we can use to distract ourselves from food, deal with the stress, and keep on top of our sleeve. I would really appreciat…

So, I had my surgery on 12/16. I'm starting to add in some soft foods. Part of my problem this past week has been with all the sugar free stuff. Sugar Free stuff makes me so queasy and leaves the worst after taste. So, I picked up some regular jello and regular pudding and since I can only eat several bites, is it really the end of the world? I was planning on seeing what my nutritionist says when I go in, but thought you all would tell me your thoughts too! Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!

I saw a thread like this in the RNY forum and it had hundreds of responses. As a newbie (4 weeks out), I am very interested in seeing what other sleevers are eating, so I was hoping we could start one here. Pics and recipes welcome! I'll start: dinner is 1/3 cup of Hormel Turkey Chili No Beans w/ 1/2 oz of Cabot sharp extra light cheddar cheese. And I'll have low carb pumpkin custard for dessert (it's also my Breakfast this morning, too).

Having a pitch in/potluck at work tomorrow. I looked at the list of what everyone is bringing. Everything is either carb heavy or junk. So, in essence nothing I can eat. I need to sign up to bring something but I want it to be something I can eat. I'm almost 4 months out so I'm not limited by diet just by my sleeve itself. Any suggestions? My sleeve does not care for lunch meat or beef products so those are out.

Some people advise against drinking carbonated drinks... My dr said to drink diet. Only if your stomach can handle it. It doesn't stretch out your pouch...it would only hurt if you have gas issues...

Hi my name is jim and i had my sleeve done one dec 12th. So far things have been good and i have lost a considerable amount of weight for being 10 days out. My wife had the DS in march so we r on this road together. I just have a few questions at this point. 1 is i was never clear on how many calories i should get in a day im probably doing 500-600. So is that enough? My dr was very adamant on watching out for liquid calories. Also i know a lot of people jump phases even though we r all advised not to. Now im not trying to yet im not even in a full 2 weeks but i know soon ill be on puree foods and from my wife doing it i can tell its not fun. Food is not meant to taste go…

Hi All, I've been having an issue in the last month with what I suspect is dumping syndrome. I had VSG in August 2009, so I've lost all the weight and am below goal. That part is fine. I suspect this dumping issue started as the result of eating too much sugar after dinner. Last night and the night before, I ate what we call an Artisan Cheese plate. It's little tiny bits of different cheese (like an inch by an inch sizes) with a little fig jam and honeycomb (like a one inch sq. size of comb) with some water crackers. Not a lot of food at all, but man within an hour of eating I was getting not only the sugar rush, but rapid heart palpitations, adrenaline rush, sweating an…

For you pre-oppers and newly post-oppers worried about what post op life will be like, I wanted to share a couple of meals I've had recently - I'm 4 weeks post op and these are on my doc approved plan and sleeve friendly. pizza - Oh how I miss Pizza Night with the family. But I think we have found a great work-around in my house. Take a Carb Balance tortilla shell (I used the fajita size) and spread some pizza sauce it. Then get creative with your doc-approved toppings. I used turkey pepperoni and low-fat mozzarella cheese on one. I also made one with BBQ sauce (instead of the pizza sauce), shredded chicken and the mozzarella. OMG, delish. At 4 weeks out, I can e…

I read on a different topic page about how MFP and other calorie trackers don't take into account the (generally) lower metabolism of WLS people. I know my NUT told me that a year out, most women she sees need 800-1100 calories to maintain. MFP tells me that I'll weigh next to nothing if I keep that up. I wondered if anyone knew of an app that either takes into account our lower metabolism or can be manually tweaked? I was mulling this over at the gym this morning and it made me wonder further about the accuracy of the "calories burned" on my treadmill and step glider. For my weight, the hour I spend on those two machines, I am told burns 350 calories. I'm curious …
