Hi folks, I've been doing some research on various Protein formulations, whey vs soy vs casein vs whey protein isolate ... I have read that whey protein isolate has the highest bioavailability among the different subtypes. It is also on the higher end of the price range. I think the Premier Protein ready-made shakes (a mix of whey and soy Proteins , I believe) are quite tasty, actually tastier than the more expensive 'Oh Yeah!' whey protein isolate shakes (except strawberry - oh yeah ready mix is the tastier ) I wonder about the bioavailability of Premier Protein ... Eg what percentage of the protein delivered is the gut able to absorb? I haven't been able to fin…

I am curious to know why some people can have protein bars and others aren't allowed. I'm not allowed as I am only allowed 15-21 total carbs a day. Are there any that are actually good for you ? They all seem to be so high in carbs , but have lots of protein. Any advise appreciated . Thanks.

Hello everyone. My father had lap band surgery in July of 2013. He has lost 55 pounds. He has been having trouble finding foods to eat. He is getting choked and throwing up alot. He just doesn't know what to eat and he is about to give up. I cant let him do that because he has come so far. Can anyone please help me find foods he can eat. Any help would be much appreciated.

I am really excited about the Breakfast I had this morning. I made pumpkin spice steel cut oatmeal in the crockpot overnight. I had it this morning with a couple of ounces of vanilla Greek yogurt and a half tbsp of pecans. It's a keeper. The whole meal came to 141 calories, 17.3 carbs (a little high, but really not bad for oatmeal.) 9 g Protein Much better stats and taste than the instant.

I had to share. Oscar Mayer P3 Portable Protein Pack. It's a small serving of meat, cheese and nuts, packaged kind of like a Lunchable. Perfect size, 13 grams of protein. FYI - Target's cartwheel app has a coupon for 50% off, combined with a manufacturers coupon that's stuck on the package makes these little treats about $.40/each! https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cartwheel-by-target/id659563061?mt=8

I had been a vegetarian for 3 years, then I stopped for 3 years..now I feel like it's time to return to a vegetarian diet. however, my nutritionist strongly advised me not to go vegetarian until the summer. she said i need to get in a lot of protein once i'm sleeved and it'd be harder as a vegetarian. I'm at the point where just looking at meat makes me want to throw up. I'll grill some chicken and stare at it wondering how the hell am i going to eat this. anyone else have this problem?

So I know lots of you can't do steak. But for those that can, you should try this. I found it in the freezer section at WalMart. I try lots of fully cooked frozen meat (mostly Tyson) because of the convenience and this one is my new fave. It's really tender and well seasoned. I made lettuce wrapped steak tacos tonight. So good. Each 3 oz serving has 150 calories and 18g Protein. Try it and let me know what you think.

This is sort of what is already recommended so idk why many ppl turn up their nose at "Atkins" IMO Atkins is not a "fad" since I know many people who have lost weight this way. I don't plan to follow rules to a T so I'm bit going to say I'm following this diet. My problem was always that when on this diet I was so hungry then last time after losing 15lbs I found out I was pregnant... Idk just looking for input

Hi everyone! I am really confused right now. I am two years post op and I have lost a total of 140 lbs. I am very happy about that (ecstatic!) but I am trying to get those last pesky pounds off. I 'fell off the wagon' for awhile and I am trying to get back on track. I lost all the weight practically without trying (other than focusing on walking and getting my Protein in) I have a Caribbean vacation coming up in 8 months and I want to wear a bikini comfortably. My question: What should my caloric intake be? After calculating my BMI with my base metabolic rate it says that I should be eating about 1450 calories a day to burn fat, I should also work out 3-5x/…

Hi everyone I'm 8weeks out and I want to know if I can take tablets yet? I have researched and I feel opti woman is one of the best. Can any agree with me and are they safe for sleevers to take? Thanks in advance.

  23. I'm not a huge fan of artificial sweeteners. They taste ok and I'll use them but I'm fearful my consumption of chemicals is gonna go way up post op. My pancrease is happier I'm sure but I'm having a hard time reconciling all the other stuff in the "sugar free" versions. I'd have chosen the coke over diet coke preop (before preop I guess) because of the chemicals but now I'm too conscious if the calories. I usually just drink water anyway but I'm just using that as and example. For those who have studied this, what the word? Is there a safe one (or safer one)? Do you limit?

Hi! I am 6 months post sleeve. I have been having protein shakes for breakfast since I was sleeved, but my dr isn't a fan of shakes and wants me to try to eat real food. He also believes in low carb and no white stuff. I get sick of eggs quickly. And while my sleeve and I are getting along fairly well she gets a little testy in the morning so I can't eat anything too heavy. Also my dr doesn't want me to eat anything mushy like oatmeal or yogurt. Anyone have any ideas? I am nut-less because the one I had was useless. Thanks.

Hi everyone! I am new to this site and am 12 days out from Gastric Bypass. I had surgery on 2/5/14 and am down 20 lbs so far. I am starting to feel like my body can handle something new but have run out of ideas for the modified liquid diets. Just seeing I'd anyone has some suggestions or maybe even favorites they remember having? I am trying to get in protein with every sip/bite but am missing the chewing motion. My vitamins help with that a lot and so do the sugar free Popsicles. I have been adding some seasonings to my soup broth, like a little hot sauce to add flavor but I'm not sure if that is ok. Honestly any suggestions would be great!!! Thank you so much.

I don't have much time to cook so I plan to pre-prepare most of my meals for the week. I am spending a few days fending for myself so needed to come up with something shamelessly easy, yet tasty. 1/4-1/2 cup canned chicken 1/4-1/3 cup light mayo 1/4 teaspoon sweet curry powder Sliced almonds. Pulverize it in a bowl with a spoon or fork and you have a high Protein meal with a slight Indian flavor. Pretty good if I do say so myself and ready in 1 minute.

I did read about them and my biggest concern the is will stretch my new stomach. because I still eat small portion after all this time.

As anyone tried the system body by vi? It consists of shakes, cereal, etc. One of my friends is pushing the product so I am interested, but is it a scam? If someone forces a product down my throat I tend to resist and wonder why they are promoting it so much. Maybe because they are selling it? Is it just protein shakes? I am 9 months post op gastric sleeve, down 76 lbs, but I still have another 30 to go. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I liked the idea of it, looked around and realized they had some better options and lots of variety. I get sick and tired of the same thing day in / day out - unless it's scrambled eggs.
