Greek yogurt

Cottage cheese

Beef jerky

Almonds

Beef jerky, almonds, taco seasoned ground beef with salsa, turkey pepperoni.

I'm a huge fan of all greek yogurt. I try to watch the sugar and fat content. My fave is plain or vanilla yogurt mixed with fresh or frozen fruits. I have the Chobani Apple and Cinnamon fat free for desert often. I also discovered the Yoplait Greek 100 calorie greek yogurts. They're lower calories and have less sugar than Chobani and taste pretty darn good.

Beef jerky is also a snack I enjoy often. My personal fave is Perky Jerky.

Anyone have any snack ideas also for someone who is 3 weeks out (still on pureed) too? I am so done with yogurts, applesauce and Protein shakes :(. I can't wait until I am able to snack on those things when I'm 6 months out.

When I want a little something I have a wedge of 35 calorie cheese on a couple of lo fat crackers. It's only around 100 cals and quite filling.

This is gonna sound strange, I admit it.

I plan my food, and do not snack unless on the plan (I am an addict).

When I get a craving, I drink Water. Helps me feel full for a little while!

Sometimes if I have a higher calorie day and feel like having something in the the evening I have a low sugar hot cocoa made with Water. It is about 25 calories and satisfies that sweet craving. Also sipping something hot takes awhile and can curb your appetite.

Have you tried Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt? Great flavors (my favorite is pineapple) and only 80 calories.

My favorite snack is carrot chips and protein dip. Carrot chips are carrots sliced like crinkle cut potato chips, I find them next to the baby carrots in my produce dept. I make protein dip by mixing a container of low fat cottage cheese, my favorite dip mix (ranch, French onion, etc) and a little bit of milk or sour cream all in the food processor until smooth.

How is the beef jerky on your sleeve? It sounds great but I am worried I might not tolerate it.

7 weeks out; no problems with jerky. I carry a package of turkey jerky in my car for emergency meals!

Pacific Gold Teriyaki Turkey Jerky (Costco), Old Wisconsin Turkey Sausage Bites (Walmart), almonds are my favorite but almost all nuts are healthy (watch the portion size - they are high in calories), yogurt, cottage cheese, decaf coffee, fresh cauliflower, broccoli and/or carrots (love the idea above for making your own dip from cottage cheese!), just about any kind of fruit (have to be a little careful with the sugar - I dumped once on red grapes), cantaloupe, honeydew melon, pineapple, Quaker Popped Rice Cakes (they come in sweet and savory flavors) - Snacks do not have to be synonymous with unhealthy!

I've got some new Snacks.

  • Saffron Road Falafel flavored chickpeas. Yum! I have around 3/4 of an ounce for a snack. My new favorite in the afternoon.
  • Simply Protein chips
  • Dry roasted edamame (I used to have Crunchamame brand but switched to Wasabi flavored from World Market - much better)
  • Swiss Miss diet hot cocoa (25 calories a pack - less calories than the sugar free Swiss Miss) it's really good with an extra shot of sugar free Torani chocolate or mint or orange or caramel or hazelnut or other flavor. You can up the protein with 4 oz. of hot skim milk added to it, too. I like this in cold weather.
  • Low carb quesadilla: I use a Carb Chopper low carb tortilla with an ounce of shredded cheese, maybe some salsa or jalapeno.
  • Low carb pizza: I use a low carb tortilla or flatbread, add a smear of Pasta sauce, a sprinkle of Italian seasoning, an ounce of shredded mozzarella, and some sliced mushroom or pepperoni. Split it with a friend if it is too big.
  • Tzatziki dip with veggies. I get the tzatziki from Trader Joe's but you can make it from greek yogurt very easily. I dip with veggie stix.
  • Hummus dip with veggies. I get the individual packs from costco. I can only eat half a pack at a time so I save the other half for tomorrow's snack.
  • Mini antipasto plate: a couple of roasted peppers, a thin slice of cheese, a thin slice of salami or deli meat, a couple of olives.
  • Deviled eggs. I'm buying the pre-made hard boiled eggs at Costco now for convenience. I pop out the yolk and mash in a touch of greek yogurt and some Worcestershire sauce and then pile the mush back into the whites. I also buy pre-made deviled eggs at Whole Foods on occasion.
