I remember being worried about whether I'd be able to eat out after getting a Lapband. Not only is it easy, but I'm now an incredibly cheap date. Today my husband and I went to an Asian place, which for me is one of the more challenging venues. These days I don't eat rice, and I am picky about MSG and that sort of thing. So no sushi for me (not a huge loss -- if I really wanted it I'd have sashimi, which for me is really an excuse for Wasabi), and no Chinese dishes with pre-made sauces. They just hold no appeal for me now. I've discovered the best thing for me in an Asian restaurant is a Bento Box. I order the salmon, which I love, and I ask for it with no sauce. …

Hi - I am still pre-op but trying to understand all the changes I will need to go thru after having bypass. One of the things that confuses me is in the packet of info given to us by the WLS nutritionist, it repeatedly lists only sugar-free stuff, fat-free stuff, etc. I've been a life-long dieter, and have probably lost & gained over 1000 lbs over the years, but one of the things I learned finally was that "diet" foods don't really help you lose weight, often because they aren't as satisfying and you tend to eat more. Also, I am a bit worried about all the chemicals in the "fake" food. Some of it I don't mind, like I love Crystal Light, but some of the fake sugar-f…

I still find it funny when I find myself finally getting hungry and sitting down to eat and after 5 or 6 bites I am done. I have been traveling all week so I have been eating out and they keep bringing me these huge plates of food. I am at the point now I tell them to only bring the meat. I get the strangest looks but just assure them nothing else will get eaten, ever.

Omg I ran out of the house this morning not even thinking about eating. So I'm trying to stay on my 1200 pre op diet. I was doing grocery shopping and realized I hadn't eaten anything. So I grabbed a protein bar. So I on my way home and realized it was doing bad things to my belly. I have been in there at least 5 times. Guess I need to stick too real food.

Have any of you cooked in the Tupperware vent and serve containers? I recently attended a Tupperware party and purchased this product. I have had trouble with meat the last few months. I was skeptical at first, but after cooking in it I'm amazed. I have cooked chicken, meatloaf, turkey burgers, venison, shrimp, fish, eggs, veggies and some diet friendly desserts. Everything is extremely moist. It also cooks most meat in 2-3 minutes. I'm not a Tupperware rep...just and extremely happy customer passing on a tip. Have a great evening!

Some of us wouldn't like if someone got in our personal stuff, I consider my surgery personal. When I go out dining with people who aren't close and don't know about my surgery I have to make excuses of my food portions (usually I go with heart burn) what do you usually say if you've been through this?

Hello, I just had my surgery July 23rd and I am only drinking protein and crystal light. When can I start my puréed stage. When can I start adding oatmeal and baby food. And when can I start adding real food into my diet. My booklet is not really helpful. I am 4 days post op and already having normal food cravings.

Hi all! I am considering joining Costco and was wondering if anyone knows their prices for ready to drink high protein low sugar shakes like premier protein. I have a "rule" that I won't pay for than $2/shake max ever and I try to spend $1.50 or less most of the time. Target's own brand is only $4.79 on a 4 pack and taste great but they only have chocolate and vanilla.

I was sleeved in April,& have lost over 90lbs. 2 years ago I was diagnosed with ADD & started vyvanse. I went off the med a few month later, because I didn't think I really needed it. I started back on vyvanse a few weeks ago. I feel like it doesn't work the same way it did before surgery. Do any of you feel like medication effects you differently since surgery? Do we absorb medication differently with our new stomach's? I'm thinking my dose is just too high. Suggestions please. Thanks!!

I was wondering if there were anyone out there who had the VSG and is vegetarian or vegan? Before the surgery, I was vegetarian for over 3 years. I have recently returned to the vegetarian lifestyle. I wanted to gain other Protein ideas & general food ideas. Thanks

Earlier this week the local TV nutritionist shared her recipe for a breakfast that tastes like cookie dough, but made from Greek yogurt. I made it this morning with a couple of changes ( I used plain fat free yogurt mixed with Torani SF vanilla syrup instead of vanilla yogurt. )http://m.channel3000.com/donnas-cookie-dough-from-greek-yogurt/26540886

Two words Trader Joes. Omg, the one with honey (0% fat) added is superb! Yes, it's higher in carbs and sugar than plain, but so so good. I ate 2.5 ozs and feel happy that it agreed with my belly. Does anyone add their own touch of honey or other stuff? Trying so hard to keep everything low so plain will prolly be the one I go to most.

When it comes to weight loss, there's no lack of diets promising fast results. There are low-carb diets, high-carb diets, low-fat diets, grapefruit diets, cabbage Soup diets, and blood type diets, to name a few. But no matter what diet you may try, to lose weight, you must take in fewer calories than your body uses. Most people try to reduce their calorie intake by focusing on food, but another way to cut calories may be to think about what you drink. What Do You Drink? It Makes More Difference Than You Think! Calories in drinks are not hidden (they're listed right on the Nutrition Facts label), but many people don't realize just how many calories beverages can contr…

I'm supposed to have one "liquid Protein in Water - Proti-diet concentrated drink or similar" per day for two weeks following surgery (which is Monday) so I was online ordering them when I looked at the ingredients ,,,, and the very first ingredient is Hydrolyzed Gelatin. There is no way that is going into my mouth. Ever. I need another product. I've Googled it to death and can't find one. Help! There has to be one without this ingredient!

I was wondering if someone knew of a good interactive menu planner that they like to use. I don't know if what I'm looking for actually exists, but if not, it should :-) I want a tool that will give you a daily menu to follow with recipes that you can customize based on the amount if people who you are feeding. I also want it to track the calories and be able to set a calorie/fat/carb etc target range. I believe there are tools similar to this, but I would like it to go a step further and allow you to indicate ingredient preferences or dislikes and have it adhere to those guidelines. For example, if it tries to give me a recipe for a ham based meal, I want to be able…

Hello all! I am beginning my final stages of pre op and getting the sleeve on June 23rd. I am an every day girl who loves to cook and have big dreams of writing a cook book for my fellow WLS peers. Here is where I would love YOUR help. I would love to hear what your favorite meal is post surgery so I can play with it and "recreate" it if you will. I want to take this year after surgery and be able to say "yeah you can do this and eat wonderful food. These are favorite meals from other WLS friends from around the world. Don't give up now!" Thank you everyone!
