July 2013 - Post Op Thread
My taste buds have changed too. Some days I feel I can't find anything that tastes good to eat. What I think food use to taste like doesn't for me anymore!

Surgery Dates for July
You might try increasing your calories. I had a stall for a few weeks and read that anything under 800 calories puts your body in starvation mode. I also started doing some cardio which helped too!!

Bladder Infections
I have not had a uti, but I am really worried about this because I sometimes have a hard time getting all my fluids in. A friend of mine that has been struggling with this started taking cranberry pills- buy them in the vitamin section- and she says that this has helped. I need to get some but just thought I'd share- maybe this will help!

What surprised you?
I would have to say a few things- 1- how hard it was to drink liquids after surgery for the first six weeks or so. I just thought it would be the food that I would have to worry about but that went down great! You have to continue to sip sip sip all day long. First few weeks are rough! Also I expected to be up and running like my normal self a few weeks after surgery- but not the case!! It took me about six weeks to actually heal and literally on that six week mark- it was night and day!! I would just recommend that you remember to rest and let your body heal and that it gets better!!!

Still no solids, am I alone?
- Still no solids, am I alone?
Don't get discouraged! I know exactly how you feel. I was the same way at that time- called my dr and he told me to double up on my antacid Meds- I did and in a few days felt completely better and could hold food down. I say the first 6-7 wks are really hard no matter what. I'm 7 wks and can actually eat and drink without discomfort now. You might want to look into the antacid.- What ya eating tonight?
So I have to say I had an amazing day!! I'm 7wks out today and finally feel like I can eat and drink with no pain/discomfort. I went to a conference today- I was initially worried about the lunch but had salad (for the first time) and a baked chicken breast, then had a taco salad for dinner- it was great not stressing myself out whether or not my pouch would agree with me today!!! Those little milestones really make a difference!!!!- What ya eating tonight?

That sounds delicious!!! I haven't tried pizza yet, and am def missing it!!!- concern?
I would call your dr - Still no solids, am I alone?
