Purée (stage 2)

Smooth, no-chunk puree recipes for stage 2 after bariatric surgery.

  1. Started by BeGuiled,

I am pre-op, I'd thought since I had been experimenmting doing Puree I might ask here where people who might like to cook and probably have been there can let me know some real tips, I am thinking of getting an immersion hand blender hoping it works better than my blender and Nutri bullet which can mix nice clear alike liquids as long as I add much Water or something. I am not into making slush for this at all times, I think I'd rather have a smooth dryer like mix but slush is what I started to get trying to add liquid and get the darn thing all pureed. Whats good ingredinants and method and tips you think better. Please, do me the favor, I'll pass it on where I…

I'm new here an hopeful to a February surgery date. I've been thinking ahead and wondered if anyone stocked themselves up with their own puréed meals and froze them in an ice cube tray for easy meal planning postop? I made ham and Beans tonight and thought how great it would be to try this. Freeze ice cube trays and then pop them out and put into a labeled freezer bag. Other ideas to make eating and meal prep easier?? I'm just worried I won't give myself enough time to have something on hand if I don't preplan this out now! Thanks!

A while back I came across the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury recipe for chocolate Peanut Butter balls. Tonight I made what I will call 'mud'; almond butter mixed with chocolate Protein powder. It is very dense and satisfies my craving for dessert. The chocolate flavor does not come through well because there is not a lot of moisture. Not an award winning recipe by any means but will get me through the 'Christmas goodies everywhere' season. 9. Sleeved last week and after brief pre op diet am already sick of protein shakes! We just bought a vitamix today for about $400- and I am certain that this blender is gonna be the key to this diet being doable. My wife has already used it twice today to make two of the best soups I have ever tasted, and they are high protein and low fat! I can not believe I dropped that much $$$ on a blender, but it is likely the best money I have ever spent. So buy one, even if you have to scrounge the cash- it will be worth it- especially during liquid and smooth phases. If you read reviews you will notice that I am not alone in my wonder- and I am not normally easily impressed- especial…

My wife is in the puréed stage and needed just a few grams of protein to hot the goal for the day. She grabbed some peanut butter (apparently a very bad idea). Does anyone have tips on simple things that she could grab that last few grams of protein that are within the diet regs, that are basically no prep, just grab and eat?

Well I made some pureed taco meat by cooking lean ground beef, then adding a can of diced tomatoes, a packet of taco seasoning and 2/3 a small can of tomato juice. Whizzed it up in the blender, put shredded cheddar and smashed avocado on top and yummo!!! My husband ate traditional tacos. It was the first meal that we've had together that felt normal. Making a roast from a recipe I got off of the world according to eggface. It's a great blog and website. You should check it out!!

I had tried making Protein off Eggface's Blog before, and was so not happy with it. I tried to split it up into different little containers and freeze. I didn't want to have to thaw out a whole batch to eat some of it. Ended up having to falling out of my freeze, uneven melting, etc. So I gave up on it. That was until another another sleever told me "oh, I just pour mine in popsicle molds". Holy S**T, I said to myself, how come I never thought of that. So if you are having trouble with protein ice cream or storing it, try freezing it in popsicle molds. Then you just pop out one at a time. Portion control and a nice yummy, creamy treat!!

I am finding all the sweet shakes a bit much on full liquids so I made a tzatziki inspired lassi shake which is pretty good and has 30g Protein. This is going down MUCH easier... 1 small tub of Fage 0% yogurt (10g protein) 1 scoop GNC whey unflavoured Protein powder (20g protein) A teaspoon of Lea and Perrins cook's helper add-in garlic paste Mint leaves Quarter of a cucumber- deskinned. Thin slightly with Water. A squeeze of lime. Salt to taste. Puree in blender.

Then I put some tomato paste on it and added water and salsa. Once it was all done, I pureed it. Put in a bowl and top w/ sour cream and guacamole.
