This one is great paired in small amounts with seafood, chicken or on a cheeseburger (no bun of course). Don't overdo it though or you will drown out the flavor of your food. This is one of those where you have to tell your brain that a tablespoon of something can be a really good addition. (I still struggle with that, it never feels like enough to look at, but is more than enough to eat). Again, this one can be bumped up with half a scoop of unflavored Protein powder if desired. Ivy's Tangy Avocado Sauce Submitted by: LADYIVY79 Has good spice and tang. Great paired with seafood. Minutes to Prepare: 5 Number of Servings: 6 Tips Adjust Spices to ta…

Another dessert recipe I tried and turned out scrumptious! 1 teaspoons vanilla extract 24 ounces of Greek yogurt 1 tsp unflavored Gelatin 3/4 cup Splenda Combine vanilla extract, Splenda, and Greek yogurt in bowl. Mix well. Add unflavored gelatin. Mix until smooth. If you have an ice cream maker, pour in all ingredients and follow ice cream maker instructions for frozen yogurt/ice cream. If you do not have an ice cream maker, place in blender. Puree for about 1 to 2 minutes of until texture is a little more liquid. Freezer for 2 to 3 hours. Remove from freezer and blend again. Pour into freeze-safe container, wait about 1 hour to set completely. Enjoy! This is …

not only do I use this every day to make my protein drinks . I also use the blender to make my ice cream with. My one problem was not getting the mixture light and airy enough before it went into the ice cream maker. I HAVE FOUND THE SOLUTION !!! use the cookie dough paddles and whip it up. it makes it so thick like pancake batter. Best ice cream that I have made as of yet !!!

Hey, it's pretty much what a savory smootie is, right? Call it thick Soup, a meat base - whatever, its gruel. Lol. With that said I give you "its not as bad as worse could be" gruel: 8 oz or so of cambells v8 butternut squash soup (this is a 1 1/2 worh of veggie servings) 1 scoop unjury protien, unflavored 1 can shicken spread (I use underwood) 1 can roast beef spread by same throw it all in a blender, mix till smooth. soup is 90 cal, 2g protien 18 carbs. can of roast beef is 260 cal, 16 g protien, 4 carb, chicken is comperable. so its about 610 calories, makes abotu 2-3 cups of thick gruel, about 52 g protien and 26 carbs. Not what you would want everyday…

Though not a recipe I wanted to share a product review that I just posted on my WLS blog: Product Review: Arctic Zero Gluten Free whey Protein Ice Cream! After hearing LIPO‘s Frank Surace rave about the gluten free, whey protein ice cream from Arctic Zero I asked him to write a product review on it. It’s also low cal! I SCREAM..YOU SCREAM..WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM..(a product review) Who doesn’t love ice cream? Frozen custard? Frozen yogurt? Sorbet? Gelato? I love all of these frozen treats, but since my weight loss surgery (Roux-en-Y) do they love me? Not so much. So I’ve been on a mission. Find a good tasting “ice cream” type of dessert that’s lo…

Ok so I was on you tube and saw these awesome recipes to kick up your greek yogurt. I had to go out and get the stuff from the video asap!! Hehe. My fave is the mixed berry one...mmmmmm....Ok so you take like a cup of your greek yogurt. Add a couple squirts of Torani sugar free Rasberry syrup. These syrups are calorie and fat free too!! =) Then you add about a tbsp of the sugar free strawberry preserves, mix it well and yummooooo! I even added like a baby spoon of truvia sweetener to it. This recipe only addes 10 calories(from the preserves) to your greek yogurt and it is so delicious. After searching like a mad woman,I finally found the Torani sugarfree syrups at Raleys. …

I made these cute little muffin sized cheese cakes. Here's the link for the receipe I used. I couldn't find the almond mill so I used walnuts for the "crust". I was able to make 12 regular sized muffins and 3 large muffin size cakes with this receipe. I haven't calculated the exact calories but, I'm guessing about 350. So, only for special occasions. I will freeze the rest. http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/31/Low_Carb_Cheesecake39603.shtml Here's a pic with the bottoms-up.

This is a full liquid recipe. Great for vegetarians but I love it and I hate vegetables. It is spinach (it won't always be dangerous LOL!) but you can change it to broccoli, beets, asparagus or even carrots. The regular recipe called for light cream but we used 1% (skim would be too watery, don't use skim) and served 8 people. DH cut it in half for the 2 of us. It can be frozen into individual servings. Cream of Spinach Soup Serves 8 people (but you can make half recipe easily) 5 Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and roughly chopped 2 lbs. fresh spinach 2 yellow onions, roughly chopped 3 garlic cloves 1 cup light cream (use 1% instead not skim) 1/4 cup grated Ro…

I used the following ingredients to make my husband a low-fat "homemade" potato Soup. I don't measure....so a lot of this is just "to taste." I used the following and he liked it: Harvest the potato meat out of 2 baked potatoes (Im a "lazy cook" and don't like to peel them. So I just baked a couple in the microwave.) Used about one-quarter to one -half can of Campbell's cream of potato soup. Added fat-free half and half and some Swanson's chicken broth. (The broth flavor susbstitutes for butter/margarine flavor.) Added potatoes to the mixture blended it all in Target's version of the Magic Bullet (Bella something...) Salt to taste.

I am sure most of you remember the good banana pudding!! with the Nilla wafers and banana slices and sweet banana pudding? I just stumbled on to a tasty yet safe way to simulate it!! You'll need: 1 box sugar free Jello instant banana creme pudding 2 cups 1% milk (or whatever milk you can use) Apple Cinnamon Soy chips (I found Revival Soy Oh My Apple Pie in 1 oz bags) Make your pudding according to instructions on box. Than simply layer it with the Soy chips as you would use Nilla Wafers. Or if you are feeling lazy like I do, DIP THEM lol It's simple, it's sweet, and it has about 15 carbs 3 sugars and 140 calories. Plus the soy chips have protien 7 grams per bag!…

So I just posted this on another thread in response to a question, but wanted to repost here in recipes. I haven't even had my surgery yet, but this is one of my favorite recipes. It's quick, easy, tasty, filling, just so yummy! It's PERFECT for the pureed stages, and even later with more goodies mixed in. I have to give credit to Amy W at the Land of cheese and Sunkist blog for this one a year or so ago. You can also make a batch, freeze it in little containers.....that's what I'm going to do right before my surgery date. Enjoy!! Creamy Black Bean Soup 1 onion, diced 2-3 cloves garlic 1 Tblsp oil (canola or olive) 3 cans black Beans, drained 1 can Rotel tom…

Ham & Pickle Roll Yeah I know this may sound really odd, but it is great!!!! You get your protien and your veggie!! I am doing this based on my stage in the post op diet, I am just one month out and only on 1 to 2 oz of food per meal. 1 slice of ham (3 g of fat or less per slice of course) 1 tsp of light cream cheese 1 dill pickle Simply spread the cream cheese over the ham and roll it up with the pickle!! Remember, CHEW SLOWLY If you are further along on your diet, you may use more than one slice of ham, just use less cream sheese per slice and cut the pickle in half lengthwise.

I have struggled with trying to find a way to eat greek yogurt. I can not stand the bitter stuff! Finally, today, I had a co-worker tell me to put some Swiss Miss in it. So I grabbed a pack of the sugar-free and dumped some in, stirred and WOW!! What a difference. It is actaually do-able. I am so glad because I wanted to like it. 5 oz has 15g of Protein. I had a few bites but I wanted to jazz it up a little so I decided to add some Peanut Butter, stirred it up quite a bit and viola - delicious and creamy snack Im eating it now lol I used about 4 or so oz of SF chocolate pudding with roughly 1 tbsp PB - about 150 cals total. It is SO GOOD You can also try eating it with a banana.

Ok folks...This really does taste like Frozen Yellow Cake Batter! I was just trying to make frozen pudding and up the Protein and lower the carbs...but apparently combining these specific flavors turned out to be a DELICIOUS treat that will now be a staple in my home. (I dont know how these will taste if you use different brands of products because I believe the distinct cake taste came from a combination of all the ingredients...and in turn made it taste like cake instead of pudding....kinda like the "chocolate Cake Vodka Shot" Same concept but way healthier. haha) Combine and whisk till smooth: 1/2 Cup Non-Fat Milk 1 Cup Unsweetened Silk Soy Milk (mak…

I have one small sugar pumpkin left and I googled for ideas of something healthy to make with it and I came across this recipe. Any ideas on what to replace the sugar with??? My recipe binder has several versions; all basically crustless pumpkin pie. What makes it “light” is the absence of that crust, plus the use of Fat Free Evaporated Milk. Make this some time with fresh pumpkin when in season. For now, I don’t think it is too early for holiday flavors like Pumpkin Custard (and it’s great Breakfast food). Larry knows better than to take more than one serving. It’s really, truly all mine! And it is all gone. Light Pumpkin Custard 1/2 cup sugar 1 teaspoo…

Ok, I've done lo-carb on and off thru the years and am doing it again now with my sleeve with huge success. Anyway, I've also tried a couple of lo carb cheesecake recipes over the years and was mostly disappointed. Until last night - I got the urge to try it again and SCORE! I can't even believe this is sugar free with 2 yes TWO carbs. I was skeptical of course but this one really is delish!! This kinda thing makes me remember the glory of eating low carb - bacon and cheesecake -YES!!! http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/desserts/r/lcarbcheesecake.htm :bounce: p.s. I doubled the crust - just because. amazing. I also did the dry, 400/200 version.

My absolute favorite Tex-Mex restaurant is Chuy's. They serve a Creamy Jalapeno dip (Creamy "J") and since I moved away from TX, I crave it often. I did a search for it and tried out one of the copycat recipes, and this tastes really close! I like to use lowfat stuff in it and eat it over refried Beans (and other mexican dishes), but with refried beans is a quick snack and it really gives them a kick! You can adjust the heat by adding less jalapenos. I think this is pretty similar to the Ricotta bake that eggface does that I've seen in several forums, but I made it my way and loved it. 1 c ricotta cheese (I used part skim) 1 c spinach 1 c cherry tomatoes 1 egg I used my food processor and blended the veggies then stirred them in with the ricotta and then stirred in the egg. I then cooked 3 jennie o extra lean italian sausage turkey links (they are fatties like a brat, and as a side note are yummy on the grill) in a small amount of olive oil and 1 Tbs of minced garlic. I spread the ricotta mix on the bottom a small square baking dish and then sliced the sausage and placed on top of the ricotta. I chose to pu…

I really get tired of sweet stuff so I had been looking for something to do with Greek yogurt. Ran across this recipe and I love it. I made this today (super easy!) and it actually had some flavor! Old El Paso Refried Beans-I did not buy the fat free ones. I needed some flavor. I ate 1/4 of a cup. I've been feeling guilty about having sf pudding as even with skim milk, it doesn't have the Protein amount I'd like. I tried sf pudding with Protein powder but together, they made a Soup. Today I made sf chocolate with ricotta: In blender, place: 1.5 cups skim milk .5 cups ricotta 1 package sf chocolate instant pudding - blend until smooth - refrigerate The consistency is a little stiffer than that of regular sf pudding. I find I can't eat as much of this compared to the plain.

So I figured I'd look up a good pumpkin custard recipe. Here is what I found and it got really good reviews. I'm going to try it tonight and I'll let ya know. Ingredients 1 cup pudding mixture among four 5-oz microwave safe custard cups. Microwave on medium (50 percent) 2 to 3 minutes or until puddings are barely firm. Okay - I finally found something to make Isopuke taste better -- I made Jell-O shooters. I had purchased the Raspberry Ice (or something like that) -- it was NASTY NASTY NASTY! So, when I was at the grocery today, I purchased some sugar free Jell-O. One of the flavors I bought was Raspberry. I boiled water, used 1-1/2 C of water (instead of the 2 C called for) mixed it with the Jell-O, then added the bottle of Isopuke. Mixed it up and poured it into little quiche size pans with cupcake liners and put in fridge to set-up. THEY ARE WONDERFUL!! I bought the pans (foil) at Albertsons and they came with the liners - I think it was right around $4. I'll have to buy mor…
