Well I've been wanting to post a #transformationtuesday for a while but just haven't done it.. But here it goes.. In the last 7 month I have transformed a lot. From a whopping 380lbs person to the 238.4lbs I weighted this morning.. It's been a long long road but dropping 142lbs has been well worth it.. Many people have asked me how I have done it and for a while I chose to keep it private but what's the use? Back on September 10th of 2014 I made the decision to enroll in a weight loss class at Kaiser just to view my options about how to control my weight. They were very helpful and I gained a lot of knowledge on what to eat and basic nutrition. But they also informed me o…

No need to be afraid, this will be the best decision of your life. I had my surgery on the 10th of August, and actually my expectation for after the surgery was worst than what I have received. The operation is very easy, moderate pain, the only thing you will be facing, watching food in front of you that you cannot eat. Other than that, it's a piece of cake. Good luck

Hi All - Normally, I lurk and respond to posts, especially to offer encouragement. Today, I want to share some successes for me. It was an incredible day. Almost brought tears to my eyes. I am a 56 yr old male. VSG surgery on 16-April-2015. Heavy Weight right before surgery 2-week preop diet was 387 lbs. Some notable SVs and NSVs to share: SV --- Today I was so excited to see my weight was ... 299. Down 88 lbs since my surgery. I honestly do not remember the last time I weighed in the 200's. I suspect 15+ years ago. NSV --- Just this last week, I was amazed to find that my pants size is down from 60 to 50. Thats so hard to believe!!!! The bottom l…

I've been reading many of the post here, and I see that many of you are extremely knowledgeable and well educated regarding this permanent procedure we have all elected. Before having surgery I felt like I knew everything there was to know, I constantly tried to educate myself, and still do daily, but now not even 3 weeks out I feel completely LOST. The first week post surgery everything went great, I was able to drink Water and eat with no problems, now almost 3 weeks out it seems to be getting harder to keep anything down. Today everything I ate I immediately threw up ( including water) is this normal? Every time I eat I feel as if I'm having a heart attack. I get this …

Hi! I'm a 32 year old mom of 3 from upper east Tennessee.. I Had my vsg on Feb 2 in Nashville, tn. So far I have lost 87 lbs! I feel so much better but I still have problems eating the amount of protein that I should. Any suggestions? I also went to the dr today for an infection under my loose skin on my belly. I look forward to body contouring when I lose all the weight cause this hurts! I will post some pics from before and now. :-)

A month ago today, I was having my RNY. Now, a month later, I am down almost 15# since surgery, for a total of 55# pre and post-op. I am really starting to feel the impact of my weight loss, and it is fantastic. I have had no complications. The process has been smooth sailing, although I'm still learning how my new tummy reacts to certain foods. This was a great decision.

Hi all. So I've spoken with 3 people I know that have had gastric bypass and they said that they did not exercise at all and still lost weight. One of them lost 80 pounds in 10 months. Why do sleevers have to exercise to lose? What is the difference between the two? Not making excuses, just want to know why?

I still feel weak. I drink my protein shakes and water and I still feel weak. I have no energy to do anything. I'm on puree diet and 8 still feel like this. Sometimes I wish I didn't do the surgery. I was active always on the go and now I'm a total different person. I hope things get better.

@@babbittmom @kittybabbittI am 10 days post-op RNY and am doing really well. Its hard to tell, though, because I dont have any frame of reference except my sweet husband who did not have surgery but has managed to lose about 18 lbs since we started the Liver Shrink together. . I have seen this before. We decide to diet together and then he begins losing weight at twice or sometimes three times the rate of me! I am so glad for him - inspired and pissed at the same time. He has always had a lot of will-power and when he sets his mind to do something - rarely does he fail. Since I worry about his Blood Pressure, sleep Apnea and energy level - I am grateful that he is …

My name is Toni and I have a rare story I would like to share and need insight on what to do next. I had the sleeve surgery Nov 5 2014. My starting weight was 241, on Jan 6 2015 I was at a 32lb loss. Except on that day I was sentenced to 195 dys in jail. I didn't lose another pound in those 6 1/2 mths. I came home 2 weeks ago at the same weight I was at in Jan. I can eat more than when I went in now and wonder have I botched surgery and will I begin back to losing now that I'm in control of what I eat again? Can we shrink our stomachs? And how much should I have been down 9 mths post op?

I'm scheduled for my upper GI tomorrow, and I'm a nervous wreck!!! I don't want anything to be wrong with my band or me! I'm just having bouts of indigestion, and I'm hoping for the best. And by indigestion I mean, burping. Nothing like acid or burning sensation coming up in my throat, no vomiting, no nausea. Just simple indigestion, well I guess just not that simple if my Dr ordered a upper GI, right? Can anyone tell me what this "barium" tastes like; YUCK!

OK So It is just a few days shy of 5 months since I had my surgery. I haven't posted on here in a while. After going back to work, I didn't have too much energy left to post and had got through the stage where I had a lot of questions. Today, I am at 210 pounds. I have actually been here for about 2 weeks, but that was to be expected. I had been doing mainly cardio when I worked out so I was losing weight pretty quickly. I did enough strength training to not lose muscle, but not really enough to build any. My gym has 2 parts. One for the everyday gym goer, who wants to use the treadmill and maybe take a class or 2 and another for the totally insane people that wan…

Hi All! I was one of the lucky ones who was able to get Apple watch in first wave of shipments arriving on 24-April. So, I have had it and been using it since then. Wanted to start a thread to solicit input and experiences on best way to use it in support of VSG. For me, I love the Utility watch face where I can use a timer set to 30 mins to keep up with when I can drink after feeding. My two most useful apps are Bariatric Timer and Lose IT. Both available in ITunes App Store. These are not Apple Watch apps per se, they use the Apple Watch extensions to enable the App on the Apple Watch to be useful, without having to touch iPhone or iPad. BariatricTimer let…

My journey has been so hard specially the 2 week diet. I did it and it was hard just the first 3 days. I had my surgery on 8/13/2015. At first I regret it but now I don't. Till this days don't get me wrong it's still hard but I have learned to deal with it. For anyone that is getting the surgery soon take it easy and get all the rest that you can afterwards. I'm still in pain but not at much the more you walk the better you will feel. Good luck

My story I guess isn't very long. I started noticing that I was bigger then other kids in late elementary school. Between 8 & 10. Others noticed too. My brother would stop them but then when I'd make him mad I'd get the mean comments from him. I went through high school which was h__l I was diagnosed on my 18th birthday with bipolar & forced onto Lithium. I gained a ton more weight. I was in a size 26 jeans. I isolated. I lost some of the weight but then got pregnant with my oldest. Lost 50 lbs after she was born but the got depressed & went back up. That's pretty much my life. I never thought this surgery was an option until my co worker had it done then othe…

I am a little over 4 weeks post-op and as far as my surgery is concerned, things have been great. I have lost over 30 pounds, didn't really have any problems after surgery, am walking over 1.5 miles a day and was able to start the school year by attending all of the work days ( even though I was exhausted when I got home). The fact I was able to go back to school was HUGE since I missed most of the 2nd semester due to problems with my abdomen. Monday was our last work day and I really felt like things were off to a great start, I was ready for the students to arrive on Tuesday and get things off on the right foot. I ate dinner Monday night and had a snack of sugar fre…

Well. I thought it was a hoax but they just called and said a months supply of protein drinks, bariatric vitamins, and a scar cream are in its way to me. I knew they said I was approved but I really thought it was a scam. I'm shocked they got my insurance to pay for all this stuff. That's a big savings to me.

My name is Jojo and I am 55 days post surgery. I had Gastric Bypass surgery on June 25th 2015 and so far i have lost 70lbs. I decided to have my surgery because i almost or literally died on August 31st 2013. I've always been big and have always been ok with myself and have felt comfortable but on this day it was enough.. i was rushed to UC Irvine hospital after having a seizure. Upon arriving at the hospital my heart stopped 4 different times in one hour, thankfully each time the Dr's were able to bring me back. Even though they were able to bring me back i fell into a coma for almost 2 weeks. The reason for my seizures was i went in to diabetic shock. My kidney's failed…

Had my yearly Barium swallow today. The radiologist says he wouldn't call it a "slipped" band but instead of sitting at a 45 degree angle it is sitting more horizontally then it should. He says it might be a precursor to a slippage. I haven't had any real pain, except when my stomach is empty. Then I have the knife feeling - like I have to get something in my stomach. Has this happened to anyone? At 7.5 years out I feel lucky that this is my first mechanical problem with the band (I've been tight before).

Hi everyone, this is my first post so please be kind! ???? On March 5th, 2012 I had lap band surgery. My HW then was 371lbs., SW was 350 lbs. And within a year I lost about another 72lbs. After that, I seemed to hit a brick wall, and had issues with keeping things down. Long story short, I went to see my surgeon after another vomiting episode and had emergency gallbladder removal the next day. Ever since then, I had more and more issues with my band to the point where I had to go to the ER and have all my fluid removed due to constant slipping. Since that point my weight gain has sky rocketed from 384, to 391, and now 398! My heaviest weight ever! I have taken full respo…

Hi, I am now 4 days post op and still feeling quite tender. I really have 100's of questions just to sound off to see that others have/are going through similar incidents as I am. I find the site of where I can only assume my new stomach is quite tight internally and stitch like sensations that come and go, is this usual? All of my bodily functions are signed off as normal and I'm only taking paracetamol during the day. Trying to leave the stronger stuff for bedtime for a good nights sleep. I try to sip fluids throughout the day with a soup for dinner and thinned custards and yoghurts. I just don't know if I'm taking in too much or not enough and why these "stitches" are …

Hi, my names Leah I'm 20 years old and I'm thinking about getting the gastric sleeve surgery and I just want to see how it effects your daily activities and habits. I know that the few months following surgery you need to eat liquids and semi solid food, but I want to know about what happens long term. I would really like to hear others tell me their journey. So I'm 5 weeks post op and I'm finding that I am struggling to eat protein sources. Fish, shellfish, meat, cheese, peanut butter, eggs, yogurt and the dreaded protein shakes! None of them are appetizing anymore and I'm having to force myself to eat them. I made some crust less quiche which helped for awhile but one can only eat so much of the same thing. Does anyone else have this issue and any advice or recipes that might help! I'm not one for bland foods so I need flavor. Thanks!

I had VS surgery almost one year ago on Aug 4, 2014. It's been quite a ride and I've fallen off the wagon more times than I'd like to admit, but I wouldn't go back for anything! I'm 5'8" and weighed 265 at my highest. Today I weigh 178. I still have 10-15lbs to go-- by far the hardest pounds to lose! Here are my before/after pics.

Im not sure where to post this but to save someone else from what I just went through... I work from home and was feeling fairily good today so I put in a 6 hour day. I was pretty proud that I was able to drink more and before I knew it, I was feeling sleepy so I got done and took a nap. My belly felt swollen but I figured that was the norm. I woke up about 2 hours later in EXTREME pain. I could barely move and was very swollen. Thats when I realized I had walked MAYBE once that day. So lesson learned...I now have my alarm set for every 30 mins to make sure I get up and walk. Im still only able to walk on my treadmill about 3 mins at a time and up and down our hallway b…

Hi Sleevers! I'll be sleeved one week from tomorrow. Before I start with the point of this post, I want to thank everyone who has posted on this forum. Boy have I learned a lot from all of you! I have never felt so prepared and well informed about a procedure before. Ever. So a heartfelt thank you to you all. And now I'll get to the point. I made the decision in April to get sleeved and since then it has been smooth sailing. I checked my insurance and they covered the procedure. I interviewed surgeons and found a team I'm really happy with. I was not required to do a 6-month supervised diet. I was not told to lose weight before the procedure - just not t…

Hello everyone, I had my sleeve on June 4th and I'm down 115 lbs. Never in my life did I think I would lose the weight so fast. I started my diet 3 weeks pre op so the weight has come off in about 13 weeks.ive gone from a size 50 waist to a 40 waist and a 4 xl shirt to a xl. I'm struggling though with fatigue . I'm taking vitamins and I've seen my DR. But no mention of anything . I Aliso found myself a nutritionist and her advice was protein 3 times a day no matter what. As a lot of you know that is easier said than done. Any advice that's worked for others?

So it's been about 24 hours. Still in hospital, feeling pretty good. I haven't had anything to eat since Saturday. Just liquids on Sunday. I'm hungry, but feeling anxious about drinking Water later. Should do my leak test some time this morning. My pain tolerance is pretty high. It just feels like I did a bunch of stomach crunches. Not too much gas either. That feels more like a sharp cramp, but it passes. Hoping this part of the journey will continue to be this tolerable!
