Hello, I'm excited to have found this forum! I have lots of questions all the time and I can't attend the support groups offered in my area because they conflict with my work schedule! I have been dying to talk to someone that has experienced the same things I have! My sweet husband is trying so hard to help but can't give the advise I need! I had my surgery (RY) on September 2nd! It has been a mixture of sad, mad and happy emotions. I could of used this forum along time ago. One month later and I am still unable to eat anything solid! Protein drinks, broths, yogurts and soup with very soft veggies! I am so sad I can't eat normally, food was such a comfort thing for me. I…

Hello! I just joined this forum yesterday and am excited to learn more about everyone's experiences. I just had RNY this past Monday. It was a rough couple of days at the hospital, but thankfully I was released Wednesday afternoon. I started on full liquids today and feel so much better compared to the past couple of days. However, I am craving so many things! It's so difficult! On a different note... My right eye has been twitching for a couple of days and was wondering if it could be surgery related and/or if anyone else has had the same thing happen to them?

I'm Anna, married, and the mother of three grown daughters, and one twelve-year-old son. I'm also the grandmother of two. I've been trying to qualify for my surgery for five years, and I finally have a date! October 26th. When I started out, I needed six months of medically supervised diet. I did that, only to have our insurance change before my surgery could be scheduled. Then the new insurance said my BMI was not high enough without two or more co-morbidities, and I only had one. Then I developed breast cancer and uterine issues. Resolving all that took another two and a half years. I developed the second and third co-morbidites, and managed to stay at the required B…

I had to cancel my October surgery due to an infection! I will reschedule once I am off my antibiotics... Hopefully 7-10 days. Should I continue on my liquid diet during these weeks or should I eat some bland foods for a few days and then go back to my liquid Protein drinks until surgery? I have mild diveliculitis and was asked to eat bland foods to help with healing . I never have had this colon issue!

I am having trouble getting back on track and getting my weight off. I gave a few other medical conditions that could be playing a part but honestly, it is mostly me. Can anyone offer some advice to help me get back on track and get some weight off

Of course I expected ALL of this to be stressful for my husband and I but I had no idea that not even a week after surgery that we would be screaming at each other. I'm beyond knowing how to feel. Am I in the wrong for wanting to be taken care of? I feel like he thinks now that I'm home everything just goes back to how it was and I should be taking care of him, the children, the dog plus all the house chores. The most pain is from the liver biopsy my surgeon did at the same time as the bypass. Im not hungry at all... Which may be related to the pain meds or the surgery itself. Only time will tell. .

Hello all! I am almost two weeks post lap band surgery. I have done well with the weight loss so far. Two weeks prior to surgery I weighed 302 lbs, the day of my surgery I was 295lbs and today I am 280lbs. I know that is a great accomplishment and I am so thankful but I underestimated my relationship with food. I am having such a hard time with this post op diet. It's really taking an emotional effect on me that I'm on the verge of being depressed. I'm so ready to be able to chew food. Just curious if anyone else is struggling with this. I tolerate ALL foods, but don't indulge much. No dumping. My stomach holds more food than I was told it would. I can eat a cup and a half or more of food at a time. I realize this needs to stop. I get full way quicker than pre surgery, I love that. And I know when to stop so that I don't get too full. Learned that early on. But I'd be lying if I said it doesn't bother me that my tummy is large. I thought my tummy would hold MUCH less food. It's in my hands how much I put into it, but I got …

My first memory of being overweight is in 1974. I was 10 years old, in 4th grade and I wore 13/14 size pants. It was just normal in my family. We were all big, except for my oldest brother. He could eat anything! My four sisters and both parents were heavy. My brother is the first child after a long history of miscarriage for my mother. He was adopted and then the pregnancies came rolling in. Six kids in just over 9 years! Yikes! I remember in 6th grade watching Miss America, the winner weighed 13 lbs more than me, but probably had Six inches of height on me. That's when I started my first diet. I would lose a little then gain a lot. By the time I graduat…

The only form of exercise that I truly enjoy is cycling (real bikes not stationary) or swimming (in lakes not chlorinated pools). But because I'm from the Great White North (Canada) where we have winter for like 6 months a year, cycling is limited, as is swimming in lakes. The gym I joined is a little pricey, but it comes with a personal trainer which I really think I need as I don't do well with "doing it yourself" initiatives - especially when it comes to personal life matters.
