Ive read about the stall on here and thought well I hope I dont get one of those or if I do it doesnt last too long.... When I 1st started reading about the 3week stall I was like 'Nooooooooo'... And now going on my 3rd week Im mordified!! Ive been at 162lbs it seems as if forever. I was really hoping to be down to 155lbs or less by now. And I kno there's no time frame or exact amount of pounds u'll lose by a certain time BUT the way I had been going. I was just hoping to be a certain weight by my BIRTHDAY in 7 days. Dont look like thats gonna happen. Damn stall!!! Nonetheless, I look and feel great. Just wish the scale said the numbers I want to see and not this darn 162…

I was banded 1year and 12 days ago & it was the best thing I ever did for myself! I'm not where I want to be but I'm closer than I used to be. Down 91 pounds & every day I remind myself that this process is different for everyone. It's been a learning process--everything I knew at 314 pounds has been banished. New habits, new outlook, new me. I had to change & do the work--it's not always easy but I stick with it because come hell or high water... I'm going to reach my goal weight of 160! For anyone feeling discouraged (it happens!), take a look back and remember that every pound lost is something to be proud of.

Well I'm 4 months out hair is starting to really come out and I've got to find some protein I like. Was down 5 weeks due to knee surgery now I'm back at work so time to get my butt in gear and start exercising just knee isn't totally there. Any ideas on easy good exercise. I have to get this weight kick started back today. Didn't go thru this to not be a winner. I can do this but need ideas. Thank you in advance for all your input. Couldn't do this without everyone's help.

I recently downloaded this app, as another resource for me to gain information, on the steps I'm about to take for the rest of my life. I am a happily married, mother of four and a cancer survivor. Right there are reasons enough to celebrate. After I had a life-saving surgery I gained over 100 pounds the first year following my surgery. As I was gaining the weight so rapidly it didn't really bother me. I have always been a little larger than most girls. And while it is not something that I celebrated being overweight, I have a husband who loves me genuinely the way I am and my children are so pure of heart and had never said a word about it. I have always worked very hard…

Hello all! I'm a newbie to the boards, I just signed up tonight. My journey from initial consultation to surgery has been a short one, so I haven't had much time to prepare! My best friend had rny in November, and after watching her lose nearly 100 pounds in 9 months, I decided that I no longer wanted to sit on the sidelines as she shrank... I wanted in too! It's incredible to watch her journey as she is rediscovering herself and her body. I began the process of researching hospitals and bariatric centers and found an incredible center and surgeon on my first search. My initial consultation was on 8/12 and I walked out with a surgery date of 9/24. So far I have met …

  12. Started by MrsKitz,

So I had my surgery this past Tuesday. All went well. But I had a really bad hiatal hernia that was way up in my chest cavity and my stomach was severely twisted in two places, add in a lot of scarring and deteriorated mesh from a prior repair, and yep, it was a mess. Yesterday morning I woke with severe pain and was rushed to the ER. They did a ct scan and found a collection of fluids at my esophagus due to all the swelling. They managed to get my pain under control and I was able to keep down sips of clear liquid. So they released me. Now it hurts to take a sip of water, and it really hurts to get in the liquid pain meds. I'm getting up and walking as frequently as p…

I got an incomplete roux-en-y gastric bypass on 9/10/15. I was in surgery for four hours, instead of the usual 90 minutes (apparently). My surgeon said he could not see, because of my anatomy, to continue the surgery and he was getting tired. Basically, the wall to make the pouch was only half-completed. He also said if he continued he would have risked killing me. There is some leakage into the old part of the stomach, though it all ends up in the intestines. He said it was not because I was too fat, so I am left wondering why he could not see? Far more importantly, has anyone experienced this? What can I expect? Surgery was only 2 days ago but I am fearful for my li…

I am trying to decide what I want my long term diet to look like. Everyone's doctor seems to have a different take on their eating guide. I'm confused about what's best for me- I'd like to open this up for debate and to see what others think. What has worked or is working for you? Any long term maintainers out there who can pitch in? What do your doctors say?

I changed OBGYN and she told me that she would refer me to a fertility specialist, but the first thing that he would want me to do is to lose weight. Good afternoon so one day i went to the doctor office and i was 297 lbs. I became depressed because i don't know how i allowed myself to gain so much weight. I stop going out because i felt ugly and i felt that bigger people was looking at me with disgust. I felt that heavier people like to make people feel bigger in order to draw attention from themselve. i tried weight watcher's, walking and change in diet, i lost and gain back. I did not tell anyone about my choice to have surgery in order to avoid everyone opinions. I had the surgery july, 6 2015 and so far i lost 31lbs and a lot of friends weird. Can someone tell how was the first six months please?

Hi everyone, I've been lurking on and off for a long time, and now that I'm getting thisclose to pulling the trigger on have sleeve surgery (in Mexico! (gulp!)), I thought I'd better come out into the open and introduce myself. I've been considering this surgery for YEARS. This board is kind of complicated, and it's easy to get lost in here, like a huge house with lots of different parties going on... lots of mingling. So, here's the deal. I'm trying to decide between Dr. Kelly and Dr. Ariel Ortiz. Dr. Kelly sounds superb, so does Dr. Ortiz. The difference is about $1100, as far as I can tell (that includes Dr. Kelly fixing a hernia), with Dr. Ortiz being the high…

Hi, I had my consultation in April but with a 3 month overseas holiday it wasn't an option to do it earlier. But today (after a very lovely holiday) I have been to my appointment with the Surgeon to lock in a date- 12th November!! However due to a disgustingly long and indulgent holiday (Austin, Texas- so lots of cocktails and BBQ) I have put on 10kgs more since my original consult in April... I'm not incredibly happy with the weight gain. But it is what it is! I now have to lose 12kgs before the surgery and it has been recommended 6 weeks of Optifast. However right now nothing could possibly make me feel any less than fantastic! I am so excited and I know I am going…

I was dreading it and excited at the same time. What an awesome time it was. What amazed me is that I was the only one who hardly aged ???? But there were a couple of odd things that happened...more than a few people commented that I was slimmer and taller than in high school (slimmer, yes about 25lbs), taller...no. Several were asking about health tips...exercise, etc. (I was the "fat" shy kid you picked on!!!). Many just couldn't believe it was me. (Thanks?) I only had one close friend there who…

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen! My name is Brenda and on September 2nd I had the gastric bypass surgery. It took me a few years to get myself to admit I needed this, and I am happy I made this decision. My surgery took longer than the surgeon anticipated due to scar tissue from a previous surgery. The surgeon was still able to do the surgery laparoscopic after cleaning up the scar tissue. After one setback due to diarrhea and dehydration I pray I am on the right path now. Discouraged at first because of an 8 lb weight gain(which the surgeon said was due to all the intravenous fluids I was given) I am happy to say in a week I've lost 10 lbs! Prayers for great success for all o…

Hey everyone! I posted in another section before I realized this one made more sense, so I'll post a little more in-depth here! I started my weight loss journey a long time ago but the insurance company denied me for about a year. It was a struggle and really disheartening, but I was finally approved and had a surgery date in mid December. I guess it's been around 9 months now and I feel fabulous. You lose a whole lot in the beginning then it slows. One thing I will say is it is very hard to get in all the nutritional necessities. I felt sluggish even though I looked better. I did some searching around because I didn't want to be on supplements or pills or anything but I …

  32. It is almost four months to the day that I had my surgery. I weighed 397. Today I weigh 297. After 20 years over 300 pounds, I am finally in the 200's, I am so, so thankful that I jumped through all the hoops (and there were so many), had the surgery, and am where I am today. At times I didn't think I would make it. I got denied over and over again by my insurance company. Give us 3 more months of attempted weight loss. Give us 3 more months. Try again. And again. And I did - and I kept at it - and FINALLY I got the ok. I am so grateful to my regular doctor who kept encouraging me and writing letters to the insurance company for me. Hello! I am Cathryn and I live in Georgia! I am a 'Lightweight' with less than 100 lbs to lose. This post deals with my reasons for VSG. In my opinion my weight problems are genetically predisposed, although lifestyle can and does change that outcome. In my family we ate when celebrating anything family related (birthdays, holidays, promotions, graduations, everything). I think it's on me that I eat when I'm bored or stressed. My mother was overweight and had gestational diabetes while pregnant with me (I'm the youngest and she had me in her early 30's).
