I was about to answer someone’s post when I thought I'd rather not derail it and instead start my own. This is hard for me as I am not usually a person to open up to strangers so please bear with me. For a long time, even in my teenage years I would be a bit ‘chubby’, not fat but a little over weight. When I look back I can laugh, as my idea about dieting and losing weight, was to drop the 4 or 5 lbs I put on over Christmas or family holidays. I was about a UK 10 which is a USA 8. I heard from my Mum all the time, “If you could only lose a few pounds you’d be happy”. That confused me as I always thought I was happy!! My Mum had a 24 inch waist when she married and …

So, I am 20 days post op and am experiencing a lot of head hunger. I try and distract from it but the only thing that seems to work is watching food network, which is really weird. Is anyone else experiencing this and what do you do to help get rid of it? I have one more week of full liquids and I think I might die! Help Please!!!

Hello all, I'm new to this page and to this whole experience. I just had the sleeve performed on Wednesday morning. I have been morbidly obese since at least 7 years old. I remember earning the name "miss piggy" in my 1st grade weigh in at school when I weighed over 100 pounds. I have struggled with weight my entire life. I still remember going into junior high and asking my mother if I stayed a size 18w for the rest of my life if I would be normal some day. I think of these events and my heart breaks for my own kids. I love my parents but they held great responsibility for my weight issues at such a young age. Anyway, I have tried every diet and have even lost over 10…

Hey friends, just wanted to connect with you guys because you are the only people that truly understand what I'm going through. Just a little update, I'm 19days post-op rny and down 36lbs...so the weight loss is amazing. But on another note I had some really bad cravings today and it was so hard to not give in and just deal with the dumping. I'm glad to say I didn't give in ....but it was hard. I guess I Literally just have to take this thing one day at a time. Hopefully tomorrow will be better????

Hi there! I just found this forum site yesterday and didn't hesitate to join. I am 12 weeks post-op (RNY) and so far things are going pretty well. My starting weight was 250 lbs and I've just hit 199 lbs so I'm down 51 lbs! I'm 43 with 3 young children (6yrs, 4yrs & 3 yrs) and have been overweight and obese for most of my life. I've lost weight many times in the past, only to gain it all back (and then some) over the years. Many health issues on both sides of my family (diabetes, heart disease, cancer), and the fact that I want to be an active, engaged mom to my kids were the underlying factors for me deciding to go ahead with gastric bypass surgery. So today …

I had surgery with a weight of 240 after the diet. My rny was fine at first but I started having complications. To this day we aren't sure what caused them, but after four months in and out of the hospital I had my surgery reversed and had gastric sleeve instead. It's very rare to do this but this was my surgeons suggestion. My first surgeon was a total jerk and was very unsupportive. It was a tough experience and very scary. I had two pic lines and went days without eating or drinking. After my sleeve surgery, my major complications stopped, but I have never been able to transition to solids. My sleeve surgery was March 2015 and I've never had a full meal. I …

Hey everyone. I had bypass surgery on 7/28 and am almost 3 weeks post-op. Lost 30 pounds from surgery date to first appointment afterwards, only 10 days! Handled clear and full liquids pretty well, finding it challenging to get enough fluids, however, just not that thirsty. Anyone having trouble with cravings? I'm not hungry, so it's clearly in my head. Any tips on keeping it off my brain? I have no problem during the 60+ hours away at work, it's just at home. Thanks!!

Hi everyone I have been viewing all the posts on here for a couple months. So after I was given my surgery date I thought it was a great time to jump in the conversations. I live in Hampton Roads Virginia and Dr Anthony Terracina will be doing my surgery. I will be 49 in December and am overjoyed with the possibilities of turning 50 with a healthier happier mind and body. At this point the only feeling I have is of excitement and almost a feeling of giddiness. I am actually starting to think that maybe I should feel scared or nervous or something other then excited. 17. I can't believe I'm saying this, but having the VSG was one of the easiest things I've ever done. Surgery went as good as it possibly could have and I passed my leak test. I am 6 days postop and have lost 10 pounds! 14 pounds total since my preop diet. Dr. Joya was absolutely amazing. Nathalie, Dr. Joya'a Nutritionist and coordinator, walked me through every single step of the process. Before surgery, each member of my surgical team came to visit me in my room which lessened my anxiety. Amerimed Hospital couldn't have been any more perfect. So far I am down 87 lbs but ran into some real difficulty about six weeks after surgery by becomming SERIOUSLY dehydrated, even though I was drinking a minimum of 64 oz. of Water each day. This led to disc problems in my lower back and it has taken a loooong time to recover from this pain. I needed far more Fluid than that. I could not DRIVE for about 6 weeks and was on a walker with nurse and therapists each coming three times a week. Did anyone else encounter thi…

I have had excellent support from the staff to the doctor. They help me with what I should eat and not eat, as well as making sure I am getting what I need accomplished so the surgery will go off without a hitch. If you are looking into changing your life and need help, as we all do now and then, then this would or could be a place to start. They are here to support you and answer any questions you may have, to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. They are very professional here at this organization.
