I would STRONGLY advise you to check out the Self Pay & Mexico sub-forum and do very rigorous research before choosing to go with Almanza, or any surgeon for that matter. There are many great surgeons and facilities in Mexico, but just like in the US, there are good options and bad options and it is best to do your research!

I did. I had surgery with Dr Almanza in March 2013. You are going to get a lot of advice, stories, tales of horror, and warnings about both Mexico and about Almanza.

Don't buy into the negativity. Dr Almanza is very capable, professional, and of all the people I met while I was there not one of them had anything bad to report.

He did a great job, charged me a reasonable price, my sleeve works great, I have nothing but good things to say about the Dr, his staff, his facility, and the outcome of my surgery. I give him a big thumbs up. I did not have even one small issue - it was a pleasant experience.

I went to Puerta vallerta with Dr Hildago. Him and Almanza went to school together both very good. The airport is in Puerta vallerta so I picked Hildago and it was all great.

Yes Mexico with Dr Hector Perez

Yep, I went with Dr. Alvarez

I am scheduled for June 9th with Dr. Ariel Ortiz with OCC. It was difficult to get past having surgery in Mexico, but after a lot of research I feel as comfortable as is possible. I am getting SUPER nervous about the actual surgery.

I've had surgery in Mexico twice now and I assure you, there is nothing to worry about. You will be well taken care of.

I am scheduled May 20 with Dr Joya!!

Scheduled June 2nd with Dr. MaMaytorena:)
