Canadian sleevers self pay Mexico
I did have it in Puerto Vallarta on self pay. I think there is Medicard you can get for the surgery in Mexico or anywhere. I paid about $7500 CDN after exchange to USD, as the hospital (Amerimed) is American owned.

Pouch test
Should I do a pouch test? I am 7 months out, and lost 70lbs and have 20 left. I have stalled but workout about 6 days a week. I eat well and get my protein in. Not sure if it's weight training or what...maybe exchange of fat for muscle??? Super annoying to bounce between 158 and 160 over and over.

The fear of regain is REAL!
Surgery is a tool, not a cure all. If I you don't change your lifestyle with exercise and good food choices, it is a no brainer..:.you WILL regain. The choice is yours, and yes, the fear is very real.

Jump start weight lost
Same boat here. I have been between 159-161 for a month. I exercise 6x a week and do intervals etc. I'm thinking my protein has been lacking a bit. I am going back to tracking with my fitness pal and getting my protein in before anything else. Stalls are no fun.

Metamucil
Will Metamucil stretch the pouch? I find that the iron supplements make me have some bathroom issues.

Working out?
A number on the scale is just that...a number. Exercise is a must for healthy lungs and heart. I did up my calories a bit when I started working out...I just don't ever see how it can be a hindrance. It is about lifestyle change for long term.

Packed up a huge number of clothes today that still fit!
When I was overweight, I lived in tunics or tanks with cardigans. Now even putting them on 60lbs lighter takes my brain and self image back to 240lbs! Funny how that happens. Purge purge purge!! Get new stuff that fits and flatters!

To tell or not to tell
I didn't tell for the same reasons. But none of my inlaws know either for the same reason of judgement and saying it's the easy way out! We all know otherwise!!

Calories and workouts
I am losing, but it's slowed since I started working out more often a month ago. I have always lost about 2lbs a week and every 10lbs it slows for a few lbs and then picks up again for the next 6-8, rinse, repeat. I guess it just sounds like a lot compared to the past 3 months of 600-800 cals. Unfortunately, I had my surgery in Puerto Vallarta, so there isn't a lot of post op support.

Calories and workouts
I do 30 minute weight training (21 day fix) about 3 days a week and alternate with light jogging for the other 3, and usually yoga or Pilates on the 7th day. I track with my fitness pal and get about 1000-1200 cals a day with 90g protein minimum. Is this too many calories? I am 4 months out from surgery and it seems like a lot to me.

Protein Bars?
Bake the quest bars...cut into 6 pieces and bake at 350 for 10 mins or so. They are like mini cookies!

What do you tell people?
I haven't told people anything other than that I am watching what I eat. As far as cake, I avoid it. I have however been in one awkward situation where I took a bite and then acted really full. Everyone knows I love(d) cake and packed it for me to take home. Once home it hit the trash. At least no ones feelings were hurt.
