August 6, 201510 yr What can I take daily so I can go to the bathroom every day without having to take a laxative every day or every other day any suggestions
August 6, 201510 yr Prunes have a lot of sugar and they didn't work for me. My doctor told me to be more aggressive with the laxatives and not worry too much about developing a dependence. Since I started taking his advice, I have been 10X more comfortable.
August 6, 201510 yr I also eat prunes daily but this doesn't always do the trick...what type of laxatives does everyone use?
August 6, 201510 yr I'd suggest a stool softener and Miralax. It disolves in water and should keep you regular.
August 6, 201510 yr I usually have half of a green apple and/or a coconut covered date as my sweet thing for the day. Seems to work like a charm. When I go off my plan and eat a standard American diet I get stopped up and miserable.
August 6, 201510 yr Taking colace, miralax, and other Fiber / laxative aids for a few months won't make you dependent on them for the rest of your life. And also drink more Water. When you're eating more, you can add more high-fiber veggies and fruit to your diet. Beans help a lot, too. So do whole grains. But all that comes in due time. Oh ... and adding a probiotic capsule to your daily meds will also help. Shockingly so, in my case!
August 10, 201510 yr lots and lots of Water and stool softener for me. I went from 2-3 BM's a day pre-surgery to 1-2 every few days.
August 11, 201510 yr I have the same problem so I use Enemia every other day that seems to work for me.
August 11, 201510 yr I HATE any kind of laxative! I use Wellesse Digestive Health. It's got fiber, aloe and prebiotics. Seems to be working well.
August 12, 201510 yr I like Metamucil. I asked my surgeon about drinking it and he said he was fine with it. It also helps get in a few extra oz of liquid and the citrus flavor tastes like tang, and the fiber helps you feel full in between meals. Plus it's not a laxative so it helps you go to the bathroom without making RUN to get there. Miralax is also good. My son has had digestive problem in the past and his pediatrician prescribed it. But it's more of a laxative.
August 13, 201510 yr I don't have the answer. About once a week I take a laxative. I did just recently find out though. Cherries seem to have the same affect. Going to see how that works.
