"Head Hunger"

So, I am 20 days post op and am experiencing a lot of head hunger. I try and distract from it but the only thing that seems to work is watching food network, which is really weird. Is anyone else experiencing this and what do you do to help get rid of it? I have one more week of full liquids and I think I might die! Help Please!!!

Lots of people have this. For me, it went away as soon as I was able to eat real food again. It's the toughest part. Hang in there, it will be over before you know it...and you'll be on your way to a healthier life.

Thank you!

Head hunger hasn't gone away for me. When I recognize head hunger, I drink something instead and it goes away. That's not exactly useful when you're on the liquid diet, though!!

When I get head hunger, and just can't escape it's nagging, I eat meat, chicken or pork first to fill me up and retrain my brain to associate meat with head hunger. After eating protein, and I still have that nagging little voice, I will allow myself a small portion (remember I'm physically full from the protein), about 1/2 a coffee cup (a real coffee cup, not a Starbucks Grande!) of whatever I'm craving. I'm normally satisfied after that.

I had mu operation on August 13 and im still on liquids. Head hunger is constantly there, also the smell of food my family makes is killing me. I feel hungry and i try drinking broth or water w/Juice. They help a bit, but soon i feel my stomach is 'empty' again

It's not weird at all!! I'm 4 weeks post op and I was home from work for 3 weeks and all I watched was the food network!! It helped me ... Crazy I know!!
