Has anyone have had their surgery at the Micro Surgery Center in Dallas near UTSW? I am possibly going through the Nicholson Clinic.

If you're talking about the Microsurgery Institute on Forest Park, then yes. My husband and I both had our EGDs and our sleeve surgeries there.

I was given the option of having my sleeve done here which is out of network versus an in network facility. And some how this is supposed to be the cheaper option? Not sure how that works.

I don't know how it works either, but I loved the place. We went in that morning around 7:00, had surgery around 8:00, and got to go home that evening around 5:30. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the nurses were great. My out of pocket for the microsurgery center's portion was around $1,100.

Did you have a additional fee for the surgeon, anesthesia, etc?

The surgeon, yes. Nothing extra for anesthesia. My surgery was billed to insurance as a hiatal hernia repair and I paid extra for the sleeve. My grand total out of pocket for the surgeon, the surgery center, the EGD, and the meds to take at home afterwards, was just under $6,000. That also covers follow-up appointments for a year with the surgeon and with the nurse practitioners in his office.
