I'm so overwhelmed. My surgery is a little more than two weeks away. And I think it's all finally kicking in. I've been working REALLY hard to educate myself and i literally feel like I couldn't be anymore prepared. But it's seriously emotionally draining. I KNOW I'm making the right choice so I don't really know why I'm this overwhelmed. I think it's because I can't believe I'm actually doing it. I never thought it would come to this. I just can't believe that I didn't take care of myself. How could I do this to my body? I put on weight physically but I've also put on weight mentally. I'm prepared to take the weight off all aspects of my life but just thinking about …

Hey Everyone, love the site and find it full of great information that I will use as I embark on the journey of a lifetime! I am excited to say that I will be having my sleeve done on October 22nd. To make things even better I will be taking this journey with my best friend that also happens to be my wife, she will be getting sleeved in a few weeks and we will be starting a new chapter in life together.

I was losing great the first 3 weeks and now NOTHING!!!!!!!!! And I mean absolutely NOTHING!!! What am I doing wrong?!? I follow my meal plan, taking in the right amount of protein, trying to up my water intake, I'm exercising 3-4 days a week. I'm getting very depressed, anger, and frustrated!!!!!! Please someone tell me if this is a "stall" how long will this last?!?

  4. Hi All, I will be calling the doctor but wondering what everyone here tiinks too, I was sleeved on 8/10, so I am a month out today, I was starting walks outside and have increased my general activity at home ( have 4 kids) and just general bending over, well the last two days it has gone from small discomfort when I come up from bending, to now my incision site is painful like the first week, and I having trouble sleeping, can't sit without feeling burning, I am definitely going to lounge at home today (no cleaning!) Hello I am 28 years old. I have always been overweight. I have also tried every diet with no success. I married my husband 8 years ago. We have been trying to have children since with no luck, was always told my weight was the problem. I found out in June I had PCOS and was told I would not get pregnant at the weight I was. So my doctor suggested surgery. I started this journey in June and weighed in at 346. My surgery is set for September 16th. I am excited and nervous. I am 7 days into my pre op liquid diet. It is going good for me, was a little ruff at first, I have not cheated. When I started the liquid diet I weighed in at 326. I walk/jog at least 2 miles a day. T…

Every time I drink or eat anything I get this intense pain in my stomach that's lasts for a few minutes. Today is my two-year surgiversary! I started my pre-op diet on 9/1/13 at 237 pounds, went into surgery at 228 pounds, hit my goal weight in April of 2015 at 129 pounds, dropped to 126 pounds, and for the last several months I have floated around 129-132. I went to a surgery consultation the last week of August 2013 and decided I wanted a sleeve immediately. I was self-pay, so 2 weeks later I was in the OR. For the first 2-3 weeks I thought I had ruined my life, however slowly the weight came off, I got back to regular food, and life went back to normal. Last year I had three different plastic surgeries and I am just a little bit over a year out from the first one, 9 m…

HI everyone. I had my surgery on the 27th and wanted to share my journey and hear about your journey. Feeling better everyday. I had some gas and nausea the day of and after surgery. Still feel the gas, but not the nausea - thank god! I have no problems sleeping, walking or sipping Water. I have taken no meds since I have been home. Determined to not over do it, even though I feel good. I have wanted this so badly, so I am trying to stay positive mentally. But of course you hope that this process helps you be healthier long term and that the short term aches and pains are worth it. Have any of you driven yet? I want to, but I am going to make myself wait until …

I have been overweight all of my life, even as a toddler and I was a big baby. I've gone on just about every diet, exercise plan (including a gym with a personal trainer), and I've had some successes, but mostly failures when it comes to my weight. I was almost at a healthy weight right before getting pregnant with my first child (of 5), but during the pregnancy and an abusive boyfriend I gained almost 100 lbs. I lost most of it in a couple of years and got pregnant again and gained, again. I ended up marrying the love of my life from jr high and together we've had 3 more kids. He never says a negative thing about my weight. I've had a lot of battles throughout my life, i…

  18. I have a silly question...did anyone save money on food after the surgery ... I'm spending sooo much money on food and snacking all day...

  19. Hello! Heather from Tampa here! I will be 37 next month and today is my first full at home day post-op VSG. I had my surgery 4 hours South in Boca Raton Area by Dr. Shillingford. I have a medical background, so I understand most of what is going on and understand it, but it still doesn't change the fact that I am actually living it. The biggest issue I am having right now is the swollen abdomen and gas that is left to come out. I am on Percocet for pain, every 4 hours. They wanted me on a liquid pain med, but I do not tolerate that well, so it was either deal with a pill or throw up the liquid, so of course we opted for the pills. I had a rough day after surgery when I th…

I'm 6 months post op and not sure what is going on. I am experiencing major exhaustion after I eat. It doesn't matter what I eat, fruits, veggies, chips, doesn't matter. I HAVE to take a short nap. This started a few weeks ago and it seems to be getting worse. My desire to eat is getting worse too. I force myself to eat but things that I enjoyed even a few weeks ago taste bad. I literally am getting to the point to where I'm going all day without eating. It's either crash or not eat. I'm worried that it's becoming a major issue. Anyone else have this? I'm losing weight and things have been great until now. Please help

I had my surgery Friday, 9/4, and was a model patient in the hospital - walked my laps, sipped water and ice chips, was in great spirits overall. Discharged yesterday afternoon, I headed home and experienced intermittent highs and lows since. Expecting all food would turn me off at the thought - I was surprised this was not the case. My family has been eating and it all looks and smells so delicious! I have a feeling I may be starting to mourn food as I used to have it at my every whim and I'm trying to stay aware of this so I can deal with it in a healthy way. Countless times I've been inclined to taste a bite of pasta, take a nibble of cheese, tear a piece of tortilla.…

Background: I thought this would be a good place to start the story of my sleeve. I had my first appointment 8/20 (after being rescheduled from 8/27 due to an opening). I am 5'2 and weigh 225.8. I have no comorbidities but have had a BMI over 40 for the past 5 years. I work in a hospital that has a weight management program and by default have to use their services for insurance purposes (I'm fine with that). I am a married 47y/o female and have two younger children ages 5 & 7 as well as an adult son 27 and a 1.5 year old grandson. I have tried every diet out there and have been overweight since I was a child. I finally told my husband about scheduling an appointmen…

I was still asking myself if I really should have the surgery. I just wanted to let you know how I feel now, almost 3 weeks out. IT WAS THE BEST THING I COULD HAVE EVER DONE FOR MYSELF! Yes, I had the blues the first week or so, and the liquid diet has been the bane of my existance. But, I have to tell you, when you can visibly see the weight just dropping when you used to struggle so hard to even maintain a steady weight before - it's worth it. I also used to suffer from chronic fatigue. I would go to bed at 9pm, st…

This is the 3rd day of protein shakes and I have a wicked headache and of course, I am starving, lol. While I was at NYU yesterday ( I requested to meet with Dr. Ren one more time before I go in), there was a woman who was at reception and overheard her saying how happy she was with her results. I approached her and asked her if she got the band and she said, "I had the band taken out and had the bypass..the band doesn't work and didn't work for my friend..don't do it." I walked out of the office with tears in my eyes. I just need some reassurance from…

I think my depression is rearing it's ugly head even though I am on medication. It's like a switch has been flipped. I was so happy to have lost 50 lbs and now that the scale isn't moving anymore, I am self-sabotaging. I am also not able to sleep more than 4 hours a night so I know that's not helping. I got my lap band at age 20. I'm now 24. 4 months after I got my band my clinic closed and I lost a lot of support. My journey with my band has been rocky but I persevered and have kept off 70 lbs over 4 years. I lost all my weight in the first year. It's been a challenge. There has been tears, starvation, over indulging, and panic. But, with each new experience I became more educated. I would love to share my experience /stories with fellow 'banded` people as we are all living through this experience together and I never got the opportunity to connect with other 'banders'.
