Hi. I had my surgery on sep 14. Lost 30 up to today . I am stalling for 3 weeks maybe more. I meet my nutritionist for the first time after surgery . She told me I should take fruit and vegetable with my protein. My surgeon was so against fruit . She told me no fruit or just few berries only. But the nutritionist said the reason I do not Loos weight is because I had too much protein and no fruit or vegetable . How about you guys? Do you eat fruit ? How much a day ? Thanks

So tomorrow is my surgery. I'm beyond nervous. Never had any kind of surgery and never had to be put under or stay overnight in a hospital. Everything has gone so quickly. My initial appointment was with my surgeon back in August. I have United Healthcare and thought that the 6 mos of supervised weight counseling would be necessary.....it wasn't so I was approved on my first try to the insurance company. Things at home are falling apart and I'm just praying that mentally ill be good through tomorrow. I have to be at the surgery center for 7:30. Today is all clear fluids. Not too too bad. I have a minor hunger headache but pushing through. I'm planning on going bowling…

I'm three weeks today and I want solid food. They said I could do string cheese and deli turkey and chicken. I am not drinking my two protien shakes a day because they are making me nauseous I have to drink so much. What do I do? Also I can mashed potatoes and yogurt, Jello pudding, you know the same as the first week or two. But, they don't have protien and I'm worried I'm not doing it right. And I haven't had a bowel movement for like 6 days but I got a really bad hemorrhoid last week so I've been healing. I started my Vitamins sat to help with fatigue. I haven't lost for a few days. What can I do? Just such it up and drink? Am I eating enough? Am I eating too much? …

I have what I need for the hospital packed (or I hope I have everything!) Finishing up work so others at my office can continue my tasks. Just waiting for scheduling to tell me what time to be there in the morning. Surgeon states normal inpatient time is 30 hours if no complications. That means home Friday afternoon or evening. I have decided (LOL) not to have any complications. Wow....almost there!! Am so stoked. How am I going to sleep tonight??

  10. Started by Chazmataz,

I had my gastric band revision last Monday the 16th. They removed lap-band thank god, that was a huge mistake. So glad to have that stupid thing out of my body. Feeling ok each day is getting better. I'm anxious to start soft food. Been doing liquid and Protein shakes. Stats: Age - 41 Highest - 270 Lost 30 with lap-band Surgery weight - 238 Current weight - 228 First goal is to fit into size 10 jeans. I gauge my success not so much on the scale but on how I look in my clothes. I've always weighed more on the scale than I think I look so if I went by just the scale id be so depressed.

Now that I have finally had the gastric sleeve surgery, I'm still in shock that I got it! Like, I can't wrap my head around the fact that my stomach is now really small. I'm doing pretty well by my standards. My left side is bruised so bad it looks like someone painted me purple. Eating has been going really well. I haven't thrown anything up (knock on wood). I'm very sensitive to pain medication because I have chronic migraines, but that actually hasn't been too bad either. I am having the Post-op blues though. Was this pain worth it? Can I really change my diet? When can I just eat solid foods again! And I'm really done with sugar free things! Did anyone else have…

Dec 30, 2013 was the day i thought my weightloss journey would change my life for the better. As soon as i awoke, my life was changed, i was in excruciating pain in my chest that they thought i was having a heart attack. I ended up staying for 1 week n a day. It would've been longer but i was scared of getting a feeding tube do i forced myself to drink. To make a long long story short, I'd end up having an egd monthly, upper gi 3 times, sent to specialists to figure out what happened to me. I've been on so many meds, throwing up most nights anything that I'd eaten that day to present, acid reflux an understatement ! Ph tests, swallow test, had 3 different sur…

  14. I'm a year a three months out of my surgery, and I figured this is as good a time as any to share my story. I always found other people's journeys so helpful, and I hope someone can benefit from hearing mine. I definitely struggled a bit with my weight when I was younger. Even with playing sports I was heavier than my friends, and I have a critical mother who frequently put me on one diet after another, fostering some pretty unhealthy feelings about food. My weight didn't really become an issue until my late teens, when I struggled with some mental health issues that resulted in a weight gain of more than 50 pounds in a year. In between high school and college, I we…

So I'm almost 9 days post op! And up until today it has been really rough. Mainly emotionally rough. I cried all the time. I still am very emotional. But when I weighed myself today and saw 222.5 I was so happy. I've lost 35 pound since I started this journey. 13 has been since surgery. The shirt in my picture use to be snug. Now it's huge! So I had to tie it up to wear it! But this was a huge confidence booster! I didn't have any pain meds. No major pain like I have been having. Puréed food went down well. I didn't do so hot on protein shakes but Ima work on that tomorrow for sure. I never really felt full with the liquids. Even after surgery. But I feel full…

  20. So I am coming up on five months post-op now... (Surgery date June 10th) I had VSG done and I have never been happier. I have had ZERO complications, no throwing up, now problems drinking fluids, no adverse reactions to any type of foods (except of course anything with too high fat or sugar), and I just broke through today a seven week stall I have been in!!! My name is Judy Boris, and I live in Chicago. Two weeks ago, (November 5, 2015) I had gastric sleeve sugery. The first few days were rough, but after three days, the clear liquid diet was satisfying. However, now that I am going into my third week, food is starting to look good and the liquid diet is not satisfying. I have to be honest, the whey, Protein drinks and the Jello are beginning to nauseate me. I literally want food and am concerned that I am overthinking food. I started out at 207pounds and am down to 195 and holding. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me forget about my hunger (by the way, it really hits me at night)?

So on Sunday I hit 5 mths post-op. Overall, it's going ok. I'm down 71 lbs total, 60 from my surgery date. Some days I can really feel the difference, other days not so much. I've always been a bit of a shopaholic - that has definitely been more fun lately. Although, after having shopped in the plus sizes for so long I'm still trying to find my way around "stylistically." I constantly worry about overeating and stretching my pouch. Some days I really have to be mindful and not allow myself to eat over 1 cup of food, and feeling like I could eat more. Other days, a 1/2 cup of whatever and I'm stuffed. Kinda weird. I wish that would stabilize a bit. I've been tak…

Well fast forward 2 years and I could tell my weight was taking a toll on me and knew it was just a matter of time before I had serious medical issues. Before I went on vacation at the end of September I started kicking around the idea. Well soon after returning from vacation I decided I wanted to pursue it again. I really have to admit it was the best thing I have done for myself. But also the hardest. I am still learning, and I really hate that I can't eat much meat. Of course now that I am back on track this week I have lost 3 lbs. Feeling great. Not the end of my story just the beginning. Wish I knew about this place when I began my journey. I had my band fitted in 2007 and went from 258lbs to 156lbs. Was so excited. I maintained this for 6 yrs and then I started to gain weight at a very fast pace. My band then burst resulting in emergency surgery last June. By Aug it was clear the op had placed the band back together but it was now leaking. I started my journey in May. I did the 6 required medically supervised dietitian visits. Chest xrays, psychological clearance, bloodwork, EKG, etc. Got my approval through insurance 11/3/2015. Scheduled sleeve surgery for 11/19/2015. Today I had my last visit with my surgeon. Today I started my one week pre-op diet. 3 Protein shakes per day and all the Water, Crystal Light, SF Jello I can take. Been grouchy, irritable, and a splitting headache all day. 236 was my starting weight in May. Today 228. Hope tomorrow is better!

  40. My primary care MD told me five years ago that, in his opinion, I needed bariatric surgery. I was 6-1, and 325 pounds, and had just been diagnosed with Type II diabetes.. The trouble was, my insurance would not pay for the surgery, and being a home builder at the time (remember, this was during the Great Recession), I could not afford to self pay. At that time, I started looking at alternatives: Mexico, India, medical studies (plication), et al. None of them worked for me for one reason or another, however there was one solution -- if I were willing to wait a little while -- Medicare! I was 60 when I stared looking, and in just a short five years would be eligible …

I'm on day 2 of my pre-op diet. I'm going to say this has not been fun. It doesn't help that I have a sinus infection right now. However, I'm trying very hard to stick to my diet! Lord help me!! I have to drink a shake for breakfast and lunch. I get a snack in between both shakes. Then a sensible dinner which is very small as well. I am STARVING!!! Mostly I am legitimately hungry and some of it is me missing good food. I have experienced headaches and kidney pains (I don't have the best kidneys), and dizziness. I've been emotionally stressed over what I can eat and when I can eat it. Lord help me through this I just need to get through this now. Surgery is Nov. 19th.
