Hey you guys! My name is Salina! I am 28 and I have done months worth of research (books, websites, forums, blogs and YouTube) and I am SO ready to get sleeved. I have been over weight my whole life and have had two babies. I am 5' 10" and almost 300lbs. I have my seminar and consultation January 27th and 28th but I have to wait to schedule the surgery because I am trying to figure out how we (my husband and I) are going to pay for it because insurance doesn't cover the surgery. I just can't wait! I am praying that we are able to figure out how to pay for this surgery!!!!

So I'm new here. I had gastric bypass surgery on February 7th 2012. I had decided about a year prior that it was the best decision for me. At that point in my life I had attempted every type of weight loss aside from illegal drugs or starving myself. I was a gym addict. Portion controlled. No snacking. I was seeing a dietician. I had been checked multiple times to see if there was anything health wise that was hindering my weight loss. Nothing. Couldn't lose a pound. So at age 23 and 311 lbs. I had RNY. It was difficult at first. I remember the miserable feeling when I woke up that next day. The first time I tried to eat something my stomach didn't agree with post surgery…

My weight loss story started sep.2013 i can't say that I’ve been heavy all my life just 15yrs of it when it started. after having children i picked up a lot of weight and as time went on i got really sick and was diagnosed with chf (heart failure) then came diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis in my spine then depression and that's where my problem came in. i began to eat to keep myself calm when i became unable to work because of my back it got worse. Hi. I'm writing about my upcoming surgery and would like to share about it with you all. I'm a 25 year old woman from Rhode Island with a starting weight of 345lbs. I've began this process earlier this year and finally got my surgery date set for December 2nd. I'm currently on day two of my pre op liquid diet and so far so good despite being a little bit tired. Thankfully I have a great support system consists of close friends and family. I can't wait to get this over with and start on a clean slate.

  9. Hello, This is my first post on here. Ive been reading everyone's journeys as I prepared to embark on my own. I am 22, male, 370 pounds. I am getting surgery done in December on the 28th in Mexico. Very nervous, but excited to start getting healthy. I plan on making video logs and posting them on YouTube as I progress through my journey. I've always been overweight and I'm tired of standing on the side lines watching my friends and family live life. It's my turn. I record music as a hobby and would love to make music and preform someday. I'm hoping to find some friends on here to form a support group.

This seemed like a better place to post than in post surgery questions.. So today is 3 weeks for me. I've got a cruise scheduled for this coming Saturday and pre-surgery was pretty nervous about it.. I'm feeling pretty comfortable with it now and I'll be at day 26 when we leave.. I'm not saying I don't have some nervousness about it but I sit on my ass programming all day long already so not much of a change, just a different locale.. It's going to be challenging walking on the ship and not being drunk though.. I'll have no natural balance. I haven't had any booze for 5 weeks now and not that I'm not interested but my stomach is constantly busy.. Either full of Wate…

  11. Excited and yet oh so nervous! Hope I can sleep tonight. Prayers and positive vibes please.

So this thursday i am going in for my blood work as well as a chest xray and an EKG for my surgical clearance. All these tests are being required of everybody in my Options class. On 12/15 i will have a 40-50 minute meeting with a nurse to go over my results and (hopefully)get the medical go ahead on my surgery. Really hoping that all goes well, i really dont want any kind of delay to get in the way. Im not worried about the blood work or the EKG, but after years of being a smoker, even though i have quit for some time now, i will either be really relieved, or find out some really awful news. Loosing my brother in law to lung cancer a few years back really took its toll o…

  14. I had gastric sleeve surgery on 11-16-15 and am 51 pounds down as of today. I am happy about the weight loss but I am having extreme buyers remorse now. I can't get in all of my fluids because I am always nauseous my nausea medication makes my heartburn worse and me extremely sleepy. This is beginning to feel like a nightmare I cannot wake up from. I don't eat much because of the nausea I don't really know what to do starting to get depressed feeling alone in this battle seems like everyone else is breasing through this.

It's funny, I didn't think I would be affected by the holidays in terms of temptation to overeat... Boy, was I ever wrong!! Doing everything I know to stay away from overindulging--for me, one bite leads to a whole slice! I'm working on that, but I'm a work in progress. Haven't gained any weight but struggling to lose. Still working out. Fighting the good fight! Don't count me out quite yet... Any words of advise from our veterans? A before & after of me. I've come so far but I'm not stopping until I hit 160!

So Monday 1030 I go for surgery. I'm super nervous..somewhat about the procedure because I've never had surgery but mostly I'm worried about still not being able to lose weight or stick to the diet! I've done 1 week liquid protein and cheated twice..and in my 6 month work up preparing for surgery have only lost 12 pounds. I don't want to have this done for nothing or always feel like I'm on a diet post op..I feel like I should be having brain surgery to get my head right instead of sleeve surgery but I keep telling myself one day at a time and slip ups are inevitable and as long as I don't fall into old habits and follow the guidelines (protein, don't drink with meals, et…

I had my band surgery in May 2010. I started at 289 till dropped down to 198 after 2 slips and set backs. The last slip was May 2015 since then I've gained back 30lbs. I am now at 243. I am so off track and discouraged it's crazy. Work, having teenagers and premenopausal (only 38 yrs old but mom had the same issue) symptoms is a extra challenge. I recently joined a larger gym. I've not done hot yoga which I love for a year now. Any encouragement or following is greatly appreciated. Looking at pictures is awful. I am getting back to that ugly fat person I don't love as much and that is bringing me down. Signed failed band Patient

I am new to this group, and so happy I have found you all. I have struggled with my weight for many yrs, and finally decided to do something about it. I recently started the process to get the gastric sleeve. My BMI is 35.9, I have pre-diabetes, and other weight related issues. My insurance requires 6 months of nutrition visits which I have completed 1 so far. I'm nervous that my insurance (Highmark BCBS, Community Blue Flex) will not approve, but my Dr seems quite confident that it won't be a problem. Has anyone else had low BMI and approved coverage.

Hopefully with all this support it will help!! I have never been skinny and right now I am at my heaviest of 314 lbs 6'0 tall. My goal is to lose around 120 pounds. Not sure if that is realistic or not. But I just want to feel healthy again and start working out and working on myself. Currently 9 days in on my 3 week journey on Optifast, and have lost about 15 pounds already. It really has been a bit easier then I thought it would be, but the cravings for carbs is still a bit overwhelming. What was your experience like? I am doing it to try to get the boost of energy people claim they get.
