I'm on vacation for a week in foreign land. I have been able to maintain my Protein and daily Fluid intake. But not having a scale to jump on every morning is making me nervous. I have two Protein shakes daily, one as soon as I wake up and one in the late afternoon. It's freezing up here so I'm drinking a lot of herbal tea without any sweetner and my hosts are pretty healthy folks who make me a veggie and apple juice every morning. As far as my diet goes I'm following everything I am supposed to a T. I hope when I return home to my scale, I will not be disappointed when I step on it.

Rodney Transformation.docxJust a short posting that will hopefully motivate some and confirm we can go LONG. December 9, 2009 was Bypass at 305 pounds with all the co-morbid boxes checked. I have now completed over 30 marathons and ultra runs, 2 Iron distance races, and now race recumbent bikes at up to 400 miles per event. Took a long time and a lot of experimentation to home in on fueling that works after GBP to avoid dumping, cramping, and sugar spikes. I currently use UCAN powder while doing any endurance events, but see several products on here that may fit the bill too. I have a pretty full racing schedule for 2016 so I will try some of the Protein based shakes…

August sleevers - How are you doing? It's been insane how the weight has come off and how my health is recovering. I'm down just over 60 lbs. I just bought a size large dress today and a pair of size 10 Levis today. It's really fun shopping but a bit overwhelming at times since there are so many choices.

I had the lapband 6 years ago and I thought everything was okay. I did yearly an EDG for any complications and all was clear. June of 2015 I started having lots of indigestion and had several barium swallows and no slippage or any seen problems. They removed the filling and I went 5 months with no reflief. It was determined then that I needed to have my band removed for relief. This was done in October 2015 months after this all started. Still no reflied and I have been on every kind of acid reflux medication and I stay with 24/7 heartburn. I recently underwent and EDG and found that the flap is weakended, thanks to the band and that I have a hernia. The GI doctor…

Well, I finally had surgery yesterday. Surgery began at 7:30, I was in my hospital room at 10:30 and by 11:30 I was up walking the halls. Pain was minimal, no nausea, heartburn, etc. the hardest part was nothing to drink the rest of the day. Started today at 5:30 am walking the hall. By 8 am I started the phase 1 liquids. One ounce every 15 minutes has been no problem even threw in some broth and couple of Popsicles. Walked the halls so much most of the staff and half the other patients knew my name. Met with surgeon at 4 pm who said I was doing excellent and let me come home. Feeling blessed not to have any complications so far. Thanks to everyone here who have shared…

Coming up on my one year anniversary of Sleeve Gastrectomy. Thought I would post an update. Weighed 348 on day of surgery. Been steady for a month at +-210. Down from 3-4X to L-XL in shirts, and from 48-50" pants to 34-36". Went from being a daily, heavy drinker and a glutton (of some renown!) to no drinks for six months, and 1-2 a week since. Started a walking program immediately after the surgery, then started a C25K app, and ran (jogged) my first 5K on my birthday in May. Moved on to a 10K trainer app, and have since run (jogged) 4 10K's, each one posting a better time. I exercise frequently, and for the first time in my 45 years, I don't mind it! (Honest…

Hi I am new to Bariatric Pal. I am a almost a year and a half out from my surgery which was on June 13, 2014. So far I have lost 120 pounds from my highest weight of 309lbs which was in December 2013. My stats are: HW 309lbs SW. 272lbs CW. 189lbs GW. 209lbs I am 5 ft 9inches tall. I went from a tight size 48 pants to a loose size 32. I went from XXL shirt to a loose M shirt. At first I was stressed out because I thought I was loosing weight too slowly. Now I am happy that I did. I have very little sagging skin. I am almost toned. In this time I had a chance to really change my life style, eating and exercise habits. I took what I thought was a minus and ch…

I'm fairly new to gastric sleeve. I had surgery on 7/20/15. I was about 250 pre-op, I am currently 221. I lost most of the weight in the first month. I am so discouraged as I have not lost a lot of weight like I had expected. Up until about a few weeks ago I was being compliant. However due to the lack of weight loss I kind of gave up and started giving into my cravings. I'm not an expert, but I feel I can fit more food in than I should be able to. It's so very hard for me to tell when I'm full. I am frightened to think that my sleeve has failed. I just staring eating better the last couple of days. But not seeing the results I was hoping for is very stressful. Does anyon…

I can't believe I'm 6 weeks post-op. I have mostly felt good. Had a couple weeks with some real fatigue and a 3 week stall with no loss. Things are moving along again and I'm feeling pretty great and I made it to onederland - barely - but it counts. 199.7. I'll take it! 30lbs gone. I am so happy I did this. And I can have faith that I'll survive future stalls. It helped to stay off the scale for a couple weeks. Aren't we lucky we have this chance?!

Hi, I would like to introduce myself. I am from Poland 44 year old woman and had my gastric bypass surgery 14th of October 2015. Bariatric surgeries are not as popular in Poland as in US and finding information is really difficult. I couldn’t find any polish supportive groups as well. I find your forum really helpful and it’s my base source of information about post op proceeding. Hope with you support I will manage to achieve my goals. I am also wondering if someone from Poland is on this forum. See you on the forum !

I'm 2 days pre-surgery and have a sinus infection. I am starting antibiotics today and my nose isn't clogged up, it's further back. I'm so afraid they will push my surgery back. To make things worse, my insurance won't pay for the surgery after the end of the month. Help me calm down, please!

This month will be 2 years I have been banded. I am in a constant struggle with my thyroid. For the past year I have just STOPPED LOSING. I am not gaining but I can't lose a pound. My doctor is frustrated... my endocrinologist has been trying everything. I am exercising. Only taking in about 1000 calories at the most. That's all I can eat and I burn on average 2100-2200 calories a day. I am frustrated...feel like a failure and am now depressed. I am at a loss for what my choices are.

I'm preop. There have been a couple delays in the process but I can deal. I've done the orientation session and started attenging a support group and have been hanging out with all you lovely folks here. So, back in October, I decided to start tracking what I'm eating in preparation for both my RD appointment and my postop life. My goal wasn't to even pay attentiion to whether I was gaining or losing, but simply to track as honestly as I could, every choice I made about food, good, bad, or indifferent. And my other goal was to pay attention to when I was comfortably full, and stop there, instead of continuing to eat simply because something tasted good. This morning…

Hi everyone! I live in Fort Worth Texas and I am in the midst of my pre pre op requirements. Hoping to have my surgery at the end of January or beginning of February! I'm about 301 but my weight fluctuates up to 306 and back down depending on the time of month. I am at my biggest. I've been trying to lose weight for 5 years ever since I met my fiancé at 245lbs. Yep, gained 50+ pounds in 5 years. Depressing. Although I have been the most active I've ever been these last few years and eating fairly well, I still gained. I knew there was an issue so I sought out medical help and found out after blood tests and doctors appointments that I have PCOS. Anyways, my questions are:…

Im so glad that Thanksgiving has come and gone now. I was dreading this day... I always seem to gain about 10 pounds this time of year. This year I gained 4 pounds the week before, but that was do to other issues not related to thanksgiving and not going to the gym for over a week.... But, now Ive got over that turkey (lol) I cant get back to my regular scheduled program. The stress that was going on in my life the week before has been settled, thank GOD and now I have NO excuses!! Ive done pretty good overall in 5 1/2 months I have lost 74 pounds. 15/20 more pounds and I will be at my goal weight. This has not been an easy journey by far, bit it has sooo been worth it. I…

My name is Kenneth and I am currently 3 days post op after a Lap-RNY. My preoperative weight was 298 and now I sit at 293. I'm sure it's mostly water weight. I have had no issues so far and overall feel pretty good for 3 days postoperative. The majority of the pain I am feeling is from the remaining pockets of gas from insuflation but it's not completely unbearable. I'm supposed to start puree foods today but I am hesitant. The thought of puree food makes me ill. I almost want to just stick to protein shakes, jello, broth, and popsicles until I can eat solid foods. The only craving I have so far is coffee. I miss it so much. Lol. That's about it for now. I look forward to…

Have had my band since 7/14/14 and lately I'm feeling a lot of regrets. Probably more than half of the time I feel like I can't eat. The "stuck" feeling, and/or pain when I do get something down. Been like this off and (mostly) on since like January of 2015. I've had a few deflates and it seems like I'm back in the sand state after a few days. It wouldn't be so frustrating if the suffering had a little weight loss pay off, but I've only lost like 15 pounds in 8 months. I'm following all the rules when I actually can eat. I feel like I'm fat and starving. Im so SICK of protein shakes and puréed soups!! Anyone else felt like this?

Hi all, my name is Julia. I've been on here for a little while now and have really enjoyed reading everyone's post. I am writing this from the hospital bed. I was sleeved this afternoon. So far, all is well. I went in at 1 and was in the recovery room around 3. Made it to my room around 5. I have had some pain on my right side but the nurse said that is from the hernia that was repaired while he did the sleeve. The only gas pain I had was when in the recovery, it has gone away since than. I have been getting around pretty good by myself and have even walked the halls a few time. The one thing that has just about drove me crazy is the fact that I can't have any liqui…

I'm 48 and have been overweight/obese most of my adult life. I was considering band until I attended a WLS seminar in July. Then I changed my mind to gastric sleeve - it made more sense for me. Since then, I've had bloodwork, group dietician meeting, full history with the resident doc, 2 one-on-ones with NUT, upper GI, abdominal ultrasound and met with psychologist once so far. My abdominal ultrasound found cysts in my right kidney so surgeon referred me back to my PCP for follow-up. PCP ordered an ultrasound of both kidneys. Voila, cysts on both kidneys. No I get to go see a urologist on Tuesday, do some testing for the psych doc and see him again on Thursday. Next …

I have had my band since April 15, 2015. I am down 30-31 lbs. I had my 3rd fill on August 20, 2015. I have lost some weight but I still feel like I can eat anything I want. I have a total of 4.25cc, with my last fill being 0.25cc. My doctor said for me to come back in 1 year unless I am having a problem. I am feeling like that is too long and I am not losing the weight that I thought I would lose by now. Another person who had the same surgery (lapband) and same surgeon on the same day has lost more weight ...44 lbs and he told her to return in 8 weeks. Why is that? I am frustrated. 8 weeks and 1 year is a huge difference. What to do? I considered switching doctors altoge…

Hi everyone, I've started hanging out and reading/learning here. I'm on the way toward having VSG. I've had my testing and approvals done by my PCP, have had my first appointment with my surgeon, attended a required day-long nutrition class, made the appointment with the psychiatrist, and scheduled all of the monthly appointments with the nutritionist It will be April 2016 before I'm done with all the appointments, and probably May before I can hope to get my surgery. I'm 56 years old. I've developed obesity-related issues over the years that have gotten gradually worse each year: HBP, high cholesterol, borderline diabetes, GERD, arthritis, really bad knees, e…

Greetings! This is the super short version. I'm 45. I'm married. I have one 20 year old daughter. I was diagnosed in 2011 of colon cancer and I've had to battle it twice. I did 2 six months bids of horrific chemotherapy. Some days, I honestly wanted to die. Since my initial dx, my health has gone downhill. Diabetics, High blood pressure, sleep apnea, blood clots, anxiety, depression and excessive weight gain. Not to mention chemobrain which has clouded my speech, my reading comprehension and writing skills. (so please excuse the typos in advance) My doctors believe that getting the sleeve can possibly jumpstart some things that would help pimp slap the other …

Here is a picture of my yesterday on Thanksgiving, giving thanks as this is the first time since maybe middle school since I have worn a size large!!!! I was so excited/worried when I bought the yoga pants earlier in the week that they would not fit. I bought them as motivation as I was in a stall. Most people wear their fat people clothes on Thanksgiving, but I tried them on and they FIT!!! I was excited!! Then my family(mom, dad, aunt, oldest daughter, grandson) showed up and they all said that I was doing awesome!!! Gave me some motivation and encouragement like never before since I am normally a Yoyo dieter. But I got a little bit of everything and shared my plate wi…

Hello everyone! I'm a 33 yr old female that has been over weight since the age of 7. When I finally had had enough with dieting my ENTIRE life, I had just had my son, was 190lbs and at my short stature of only 5'0ft, feeling horrible with lugging around so much weight. Happy to say I'm down 51lbs, 5 months post-op! Can't wait to see and feel my new body when I reach my goal weight of 110lbs!!!! Progress feels and looks sooo good!
-
Hey guys. I try to post on a monthly basis just to keep you guys updated on my progress!!! Hopefully it's motivational for someone. Well, today marks exactly 4 months since my life changing surgery.
