I had my Vertical Sleeve on 8/31/10. I am 5 years and 4 months post op and I remember the day like it was yesterday. I still struggle with my past of obesity. I feel pain after every meal. I go through slumps of not losing any weight no matter how much I workout. I have excess skin in my midsection as well as my thighs. Everyday is a battle against obesity.

I am so sick of protein shakes, pudding, jello and yogurt... I can't stand all these sweet tastes. I just want something savory... I know I can have chicken broth but I am so looking forward to something else!!! Who can relate and what are the first things you ate on the next phase?

This is my 3rd time feeling like this and I'm wondering why and if anyone has experienced such. First I was sleeved 3mts ago with no complications, nothing!!! Until recently I have experienced chest discomfort with hot flashes that last about 5min or so. I usually take my ometrazol and feel better. But this time it was more severe and traveled to my stomach and lasted longer. I'm sure it had to be something I ate but I can't be certain. Just concerned????

Hey everyone! I'm a 35 year old beautiful wife and mother of 4, I'm new for the most part. I'm scheduled for surgery on January 27 and I was hoping to find someone who was having the surgery around the same time that would want to talk. For motivation, worries, support, someone who is literally in this process at the same point in time as me.

Officially lost 20lbs now which puts me under 300 for the first time in a long time! I know I still have a long way to go, but it's really encouraging. It's amazing what a difference 20lbs can make in energy levels and stamina. 2016 is off to a great start!

Greetings fellow sleevers! am 28 years old 5'3 with a hw of 217lbs. So yesterday was the DAY! I am a self payer and went through a lighter me in Mexico. Everything is wonderful so far! I'll give a recap of my experience. When I got to the border i parked in the US and was picked up by a driver who took myself and a couple other folks to the hotel. The hotel was beautiful! The room had two twin sized beds and a comfortable and spacious bathroom made for people just coming out of surgery. I had been so tired from just drinking clear liquids and knocked out right away. The next day we were again picked up and taken to the hospital with the other couples (as a side…

Hey, my name is Joe, I am a 46 year old man in Granada Hills. I will be having the gastric sleeve at Kaiser West LA. I was 422 at my highest. I have completed the options program required by Kaiser, and I am 10 pounds away from meeting my 10% weight loss required by Kaiser. I have my first appointment with my surgeon on January 6, 2016. I am busting my butt this week to get closer to my goal prior to my appointment. We will see how close I get. I also took my "Before" pictures at Picture People. My daughter works there, and wants to document my journey. I will post them soon!

Hello everyone I got my sleeve done on November 17, 2015. The only complication I had was a bad migraine that didn't allow me to eat like they wanted me to, so I stayed an extra day for more fluids. I have been reading this board for months now, and I must say, you all are such an inspiration!!! Reading here helped me get through my six month insurance required diet, the liquid pre-op diet, and then the surgery itself. You all are wonderful people! Thank you for not being afraid to post how you feel about everything. My journey has been really great so far. When I hit my heaviest, I was around 275. I am only 5.2 so I was always so embarrassed. I remember one …

Hi! I'm hoping to learn a lot of information as I begin this process. I had my first appointment at the surgeon's office this week. I'm having the required tests completed as I wait for my March appointment to speak with the surgeon directly, but the nurse practitioner seemed to think I am a candidate for the surgery. I'm excited and slightly terrified. I'm primarily considering the sleeve because I'm concerned about malabsorption along with the restricted caloric intake. I'll consider whatever options the surgeon offers, if any, but will make my decision based on what I feel is right for me. I've been working hard this year to lose weight. It's more difficul…

Has anyone had issues with non-diabetic hypoglycemia after having RNY? This is not the same as dumping. Sometimes after eating my blood sugar drops low, recently down to 47. I get lethargic and cold and sweaty. I eat something sweet but not too sweet and some carbs and in about 20 minutes it will go up to the 90s. I'm working with my dietician to see what is triggering this. I find that it happens on days when I don't eat enough calories or not enough carbs. Any info or advice would be great! I am am 13 months post op and this has been happening for about a month

I'm coming up on my first surgiversary next week and will have a more substantial progress report then. But in the meantime, I've updated my progress picture album with the latest and greatest. I've taken pictures each quarter, so you'll see 3-month, 6-month, 9-month, and finally 12-month updates. Life is pretty great.

On Monday I had a chemical stress test so that my cardiologist could look and them and see if he would clear me for my surgery that was scheduled for Jan 26th and I was very excited and anxious since I started this process 8 months ago. June 2015 I started the process of getting qualified by insurance, this required 6 months supervised dieting, clearance from my cardiologist and psych evaluation. August 2015 My cardiologist requires that I take a chemical stress test, which finds that I have something that looks like a blockage. He urges me to have a heart catheter and they find two blockages and place 2 stints in my heart that I never knew I needed. Low and behold …

Hi guys. U are all my only hope now. I had my surgery August 1st 2015. It was all well until I started getting very ill around 4 weeks after the surgery. I felt terrible and docs thought I had gall bladder problems as it had mud in it. During this time I stopped eating all together and slept all the time and vomited over and over. Anyhow. By October 15th I got better and all better since. Yet. Once I got better I started eating lots of cold cuts and cheese and all wrong good. I stopped loosing weight for around 4 weeks now. I do try to maintain 1200 calories a day. But I know I am high on fat and in some occasions sweets. I think I am in some rebound from being so sick. I…

Starting weight 410. Current weight 250. 60 more pounds to go. This surgery changed my life & I'm not thru yet. I'm no longer diabetic. My sleep apnea is gone. My neuropathy in my feet is gone. I've lost 16 inches in my waist. My blood pressure & cholesterol is in check. I can choose a booth instead of a table because I'm too fat to fit in it. My energy is incredible. I'm now addicted to exercise. I walk 3 miles 4 days a week. I lift weights at the gym 3 days a week. I look forward to what lays ahead next year. My dog has even lost 25 lbs from all the walks. It was the best thing I've ever done for myself & also the hardest. I look forward to being under 200 …

Hi everyone. I'm new on BP and am struggling a bit with everything. I'll just lay out my whole story in one go and hopefully I don't sound too crazy. I'm 22 and live in Melbourne Australia. Was sleeved on 19-October-2015 weighing 131kgs or 289 pounds. I'm 12 weeks and 1 day out and am 102 kgs which makes for a loss of 29kgs or 63 pounds. I don't feel like I've had a journey like anyone else so far, or at least anyone I've watched or read. After op I was on liquids for 10 days the was able to go on to solids no problems. No puréed food at all. I dropped 10kgs in the first week then have lost a few kilos a week since. I was able to eat more to start off with but …

Hi everyone, I literally just turned 40 2 days ago and I have 5 kids. I am a 5'3 frame weighing 210. Those friends that I have confided to about sleeve, think I'm crazy and going thru a mid life crisis. They don't seem to understand that I am only getting older and my metabolism doesn't run like it used to and that I just want to do this for myself. They think I'm crazy to go to Mexico and get surgery. Is it crazy for me to want this when I don't have a huge issue to start out with?

Exactly one year ago, I was at my heaviest weight. I have no idea why no one ever told me I was that huge, but I don't think I even saw it myself. While I'm embarrassed to post this, I've never been prouder of myself. I began taking my health seriously in June and have lost 90 pounds since the photo on the left. I'm not yet at my goal but being able to compare two photos taken on the same day, just a year apart, gives me the motivation to keep going. Looking forward to what 2016 has in store I was sleeved June 15th 2015. The photo on the left is Dec 30th 2014 and the right is Dec 30th 2015. I still have a long way to go but I have never been happier nor have I ever bee…

I'm not sure how I am just now finding out about this app the day before my surgery, but just from an hour or so of reading though some posts, I am already thankful that this community exists. My initial message after signing up said I should introduce myself, so hello! My name is Sara. I'm 29 years old, 5'1 and weigh 225lbs. I am having the VGS tomorrow morning, December 28th. I started dieting when I was 12 years old (weight watchers, Adkins/South Beach, Curves for Women, personal training, and more pills than I care to admit). I've had varying success over the years, but have never been able to keep the weight off. My mother approached me with the idea of WLS back…

I'm almost there! My surgery is Monday! Anyone else scheduled around January 4, 2016? ???? I'm so excited! I still need to lose another 125-150lbs. My highest weight was 315. My current weight is 274. Goal weight is 125-145lbs. I'm 5'5" and hourglass shape.

HW 254 SW 248 CW 233 GW 140 Ht. 5'5". I have been taken off all diabetes medication. I have also had the doses lowered on MS medications especially the steroids. I'm feeling better. Sticking to the eating plan (liquid/puree diet) I walk everyday and I try to stay positive. I live with junkfood junkies. But they can have that.. I'm glad I don't have to stick myself with a needle full of insulin that is victory enough. I do thank God and all the people who are supportive towards me on this journey. Losing is winning in so many areas. Thanks y'all.

Hi Everyone! Happy New Year! I'm scheduled for the sleeve tomorrow at 9 AM. My doctor ordered me to have a light Breakfast this morning and Clear liquids for the remainder of the day. So, I just had my "last meal" of scrambled eggs and some fresh fruit. The doctor's office and the hospital gave me tips on what to pack... Any suggestions? Thanks, everyone!

I jumped through the hoops and had my sleeve surgery scheduled for October 21. Then early September through a CT scan for some abdominal pain (which turned out to be an intestinal infection) they found a solid mass on my kidney. So instead of having sleeve surgery on Oct 21, I had kidney surgery on Oct 20. The mass on my tumor did turn out to be malignant but the good news is, they got it all. I talked to the bariatric surgeon's office and if the kidney surgeon is ok with it, we can reschedule the sleeve surgery for early February. I see the kidney surgeon next week so we'll see what he says.

I am a resleeve. Got the first one done in Feb 2010 @107 kgs. Got down to 67 kgs by Feb 2011 and then got pregnant. Ate with pregnancy and reached 84 kgs by the time baby came out. Again stated at 84 kgs till the next pregnancy in 2013 and delivered at 92kgs in January 2014. Nothing changed thereafter. Net net: 1. Had 40 kgs weight loss post sleeve in 12 months 2. Got pregnant comfortably and delivered two children naturally post sleeve 3. Gained weight inside the pregnancies and then did not lose any Started gaining weight back around mid 2015. Got to a heavily controlled diet though just enough to not increase the weight. At 94.8 kgs I went back to my doc and cons…
