Too skinny?

Hi everyone,

I literally just turned 40 2 days ago and I have 5 kids. I am a 5'3 frame weighing 210. Those friends that I have confided to about sleeve, think I'm crazy and going thru a mid life crisis. They don't seem to understand that I am only getting older and my metabolism doesn't run like it used to and that I just want to do this for myself. They think I'm crazy to go to Mexico and get surgery. Is it crazy for me to want this when I don't have a huge issue to start out with?

Totally do this for you! Once I hit 40 I saw my blood pressure and blood sugars start to creep up as well as my weight.

I want to be healthy before I hit 50. I"m going to Mexico as well. Jan 20th. Good luck!

That is awesome, which dr did you go with and have you started pre op diet yet?

Do not let others control your thinking. You know what's right for you. I'm 37 and was 259 standing 5'3" and would hear the same thing. Weight just doesn't come off as easy or at all once you hit your 30's.

My only regret is not having done my surgery sooner like the two years I spent listening to every one else's opinions.

"Only in this day and age is being 5'2 and 215 not a "huge issue". We are so used to seeing so many obese people, we've lost perspective. I used to say the same thing at 5'5" and 235 with a BMI of 39. There was no getting around it, I was fat and unhealthy. Just like being pregnant, there's no such thing as being "a little obese"."

I completely agree. I think we are surrounded by an obese population and don't realize we "blend" because everyone is so overweight!

I've done some traveling overseas, and I'm ALWAYS struck by how lean everyone else is, and when I come back to the U.S. at the airports and see the super-heavy general population -- MAN, it's a culture shock, for sure!

Our local 6 Flags adjusted all the seats on the coasters to only fit "normal" BMI riders, and whoa, what a change in park population! Now the only place for anyone heavy to go is walking as a spectator or in the Water park. It really is a difference in the people you see walking around in terms of size.

IDK how or why our country is growing so big, but it's not good:-(

Sleeved August of 2014.

Yes, some days it can be hard not to eat. But being fat was much harder ;)
