????????starting exercising this week and seem like the scale would be moving but it's basically staying at a stand still on subtracting an ounce here and there. Guess I'm at the "stall" I've been hearing folks talk about????????????????if so hopefully my wt loss will double????

Hi everyone! My name is Meghan and I am 5 years post. I am a mom of 3 AMAZING children and am lucky to get stay home with them full time right now. The best part of losing weight is being able to walk around on the beach with them all day and not be in so much pain! I decided to join this forum to re-inspire me to keep losing. I gained a little weight since I've been at home more and I know I have the toolset to lose it if I apply myself. A little more about me, I had gastric sleeve surgery at a hospital in Tijuana Mexico (it was very safe and I would recommend it to anyone). A lot of people on here seem to be newbies. I would love to hear from other veterans about…

I am freaking out on the inside, but trying to look calm to everyone around me. I went through a three month program of psyc eval, dietician, supervised 1200 cal a day diet. After my last weigh in I was told by my Dr's office everything had been submitted and two weeks later I get my letter denying coverage. The reason is because Aetna said they didn't receive any proof of medical necessity. My Dr's office didn't meet the dead line. The appeal has been filed. I am ????

After attending the nutrition class a woman siting across from me said "I've been looking at you the whole time you are small why are you getting the procedure". I responded and said "it is a personal decision". Then the lady next too me asked "have you had your psych evaluation" I said "yes" then she asked "what did he say". I responded "nothing but I don't think no one's decision can trump the surgeon's". I am so upset and no one knows my struggle. I am tired of people placing judgment and questioning my decision with the procedure. I am so disappointed and really need some support right about now just because I don't look like I have a BMI of 36.6 I do based upon my he…

I have a few friends that are losing wait and as they do they give me their old clothes. My daughters keep going through them and trying to take things. Currently I have gotten rid of all my old clothes and have a very limited number of items to wear since I work from home I don't want to spend money on clothes till I get closer to goal. I am currently 195 and still have about another 30ish pounds to get to where I want to be. I have to go into there room and get my stretch pants back, I wear a L/XL, they wear a Med, I have to go into their room after folding clothes because they accidentally take my pants!!! Never thought that would ever happen!!!!

Well, I went through with it...lol On Wednesday October 21st I was waiting to be brought into surgery nervous and starving because of my 2 day pre op liquid diet. Now I'm barely able to get my liquids down and sore as can be. Now that the worst part is over, I am so happy too see where I will be headed. I can't wait for my life to change. I'm also doing this along side my close Aunt who had her surgery Monday the 19th of October. Seeing that she's already up and moving around frequently gives me hope. I've been trying to walk around as much as I can throughout the day. Let the journey begin...????

I just got my insurance approval for WLS today. It is something that I have been thinking about for 2 years. I tried the HMR diet and actually lost 35 pounds but as soon as I quit it all came back (plus another 15). I am now at my heaviest I have ever been (5'6 and 255). I have a hard time tying my shoes in the morning because I can't bend down to do it. I can't go out and play with my kids. I can't hit a golf ball as far as I used to. In general life sucks right now. My problem is like so many others...I am wondering what I am getting myself into. I know it is the fear of the unknown. I faced that before Basic Training for the Air Force and now I am facing it ag…

I had my surgery just over 10 months ago and today I hit my goal weight of 125! I chose that weight with my doctor because it's half my starting weight of 250 and a perfectly normal BMI at 5'0. My life has been saved and drastically changed FOREVER. I'm now the athlete I've always wanted to be, I can wear cute clothes and knee boots, my energy level is off the charts, I can cross my legs, I could go on and on. This was by no means easy. I had to completely change my lifestyle - I eat roughly 800-1000 calories a day getting in a minimum of 80 grams of Protein. I work out 6 days a week and on wednesdays I work out twice. I run 25-30 miles a week, do hot yoga and work w…

Okay, I've been forced to do a lot of soul-searching recently. Despite sailing through any pre-operative psychological assessment (in fact I was so convincing and probably 'cause I was self pay I wasn't actually referred for the full tests), there is a nagging truth which keeps tapping me on the shoulder and making me uncomfortably aware of the reasons as to why I found myself in this position. The position whereby I felt bariatric surgery was my only viable option to lose weight and take control of my diet. Or more accurately and for me; my portion size. Although I can intellectualise my way out of a paper bag (as was stated by the psychologist when I finally met the…

Hello my new friends! I'm posting for the first time in this fantastic forum! I've been reading you for a few weeks now, so I thought i'd better intruduce myself. I'm a 34 year old Mamma of a toddler, Italian, graduated in the UK, now living in Switzerland for the last 9 years. I had the VSG on October 31st at KCM Clinic in Jelenia Gora, in Poland. I had the lap band in 2006, through to 2012, when I had to have it removed because it displaced itself upwards. Then had my son and piled a lot of weight to reach 328lbs before the pre-op diet. Now I'm down to 302 lbs , and already feeling the benefits of a lighter me. ???? I decided to go to Poland to get it done rel…

So thru out this journey my relationship with my scale hasnt always been a good one. There have been times when Ive wanted to throw it against the wall... When Ive wanted to throw it in the trash. As a matter of fact, I did throw it in the trash. Only to buy another one 10 days later. My scale has made me smile and made me cry! My scale has been my worst enemy and my bestfriend at the same damn time!!... As u can tell me and my scale has something real ????. We are in this for the long haul... Lately we've been in good standings cuz the numbers has been going down and Im almost at goal. I really had to get it together tho. I kno I wasnt always doing things right or to my …

Hello I was banded in May of 2013 and was doing great until I got stuck and had to go to the hospital. My doctor told me he wanted to see 5 pounds back on as I had not eaten in 10 days. Well since then May 2014 I just can't get back on track I stared at 350 and was down to 268. I have not weighted myself in months but would guess I'm back up to at least 280 or more. I have not had a fill in a very long time and just made an appointment for next Tuesday I'm so embarrassed to go back and have gained so much weight and embarrassed to have been banded and still be fat. How do I get back on track and make this band work for me. Help please

This past week marked my six month anniversary of my LapBand surgery and really could not be any happier. After year after year of watching my weight go up and up and my waist getting bigger and bigger. That is all ancient history. After these past six months I watched my waist go from a size 58-60 to a 42. So far in these six months I have lost 97 pounds. I am putting this out there so all you newbies not to feel discouraged at first. As long as you follow your dr.s orders keep your caloric intake at 1200 calories and some exercise you will see amazing results as well. Enjoy your journey and expect great results on the way!

For those who have gotten pregnant after surgery, what has your experience been with this? Did you gain a lot of weight? Were you able to lose it again? Were you able to take in the proper nutrition? That is my ultimate goal. To have a baby. Which is why I need to get healthy. I just want to know if this has been a problem for anyone?

Hi There, I'm new to this site and am very excited that I've found this outlet. I live in a remote part of Alaska and do not have access to regular support group meetings. Online is the only option I have at this time. I would love it if someone in my area started a support group and would really like to connect with people in my area of the world. I have just completed my final test and am waiting for my surgeon to submit my claim to insurance. This has all been quite the process. I live about 6 hours away from my surgeon and had to go through a six months of tests and appointments. I am very excited to be so close and cannot wait until I can finally take the le…

i have to admit. today was a regret filled day. it's when you're out to eat with work peeps - you're at your favorite restaurant....you can't eat shit. you're just sitting there picking at stuff....waiting for it to get unlodged from your esophagus so you can take another pea sized bite. can't even enjoy it. AND in the meantime, you're at a stall wtih your weight so suddenly it doesn't seem worth it to have done this. it's one thing if you're losing weight but when you're not losing shit AND you can't eat. it's like wtf did i do this for? would it have been better to just stay fat and diet again? not that there's anything to be done about it now - it's not a lap…

I am about 8 weeks out post op. I am suppose to be getting 90 grams of Protein in a day. I am lucky if I get to 70 grams. I just don't feel like eating. The shakes gross me out. I have lost 54 lbs since surgery but the doctor says I would lose faster if I get my protein goal. Just frustrated.

I'm 58 years of age, male, 340 lbs, 5'11.5" and semi-retired from teaching. I made the decision to have gastric bypass of some kind in 2014. During the fall of 2014 I made an appointment with my physician, actually I think it was my annual checkup! When discussing my health issues, i.e. pre-diabetic, sleep apnea, morbid obesity, osteoarthritis, and borderline high blood pressure I brought up the possibility of having gastric bypass. I was VERY nervous to ask about this as I figured he would treat me as a failure for not wanting to lose the weight the old fashioned way (which I had done 3 or 4 times since I was married 34 years ago). Shockingly, he was very positive ab…

I haven't posted here in forever but id like to give an update and some encouragement for the newbies here. My surgery was in March of 2014 and it's probably one of the best things I've ever done. I went from 310 at the time of my surgery and a size 24 to a low weight of 194 and a size 12. I have gained about 10lbs back but I've also added a lot of muscle and I'm still a size 12. I would like to lose more, but I'm happy for now. I run, bike, kayak, and travel a lot more. I did some of these things before but not nearly as easily as I do now. I exercise at least 3 days a week and I'm preparing for my next 5K now and hoping to do a 10k in the spring. The past year…

Hi, I am 3 weeks out of surgery. And I'm in pureed stage of my diet. I still want to go out and hangout with family and friends for meals. Some people think it's a waste if I go order a cup of soup n only drink the broth part of it. I'm not tempted when I see others eating nor do I regret my decision. I like the socializing part of eating out with folks. I understand it's not cost effective. But this is the new me. I will eventually be able to eat until then I don't want to miss out on social gatherings with family and friends. I can't shut myself in because I made this conscious decision to get sleeved to get to a healthier weight. I have yet to eat or drink anythi…

I couldn't believe it. I haven't been able to do that in 10 years. I am less than two months post op. I have lost 42 lbs since before pre-op diet.

I am 36, have a family and would like some real life honest experiences about bypass. I have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and I am on metformin, karvizide, and injecting Byetta twice a day for my diabetes. I have had a gastric band for 6 years now and successfully kept off my lost weight since the band was put in. I still have more weight to lose which may be why my diabetes isn't under control, and blood pressure still not stable. Today my specialist and gastric doctor said it would be a very good idea to have the gastric bypass to solve the problem of my diabetes. They said That it would either help a lot or cure it altogether. I am reading bits and pieces abo…

So I think I can "officially" call myself "pre-op". I met with a surgeon last week who recommended gastric bypass. I've toyed with idea for years and was inspired by an old high school classmate sharing her journey on FaceBook over the last 18 months. I started last year trying to get approved by my insurance (who does not cover WLS) for issues w/hiatal hernia, GERD, acid reflux. fast forward about 8 months (with still no luck)I sign up for my annual benefits for open enrollment & what do I see?? Starting Jan 1st UHC is covering bariatric surgery!!! I am over the moon! My weight has been an issues since puberty so I AM nervous about just being "smaller" in general…
