Hello! I've been working on getting my surgery since last October.  I've had to change doctors a couple of times. Then I was referred to my current endocrinologist, and everything changed. She listened to my symptoms, and, through testing, a lot of testing, I finally had another diagnosis; PCOS. It explained why I had gained weight even though I was watching what I ate, and why it was so hard to lose it. One day in September of last year, she suggested I think about getting bariatric surgery. At first, I said no. But after doing a lot of research, I decided that this surgery, gastric bypass, would be the right tool for me. Now I'm in the last leg of the journey. I'm waiting to schedule my first appointment with the surgeon. It's been frustrating to get this far, but I'm happy because I'll be having my surgery very soon, within the next few weeks. It's nice to have a place to go to get support.
