Just beginning to investigate the sleeve. Have a couple of acquaintances (older women) who have had the band. They both lost considerable weight, but both have problems throwing up and getting food stuck. I do not want that. I am in my very late 60's. Being rather short (4'10"), I have had considerable problems losing weight. I have been holding steady at 164, but for me that is very heavy. My BMI is just about 35 and I have a couple of health issues I think would help me quality for something; type 2 DM and obstructive sleep apnea. Had successful spine surgery 2 years ago and can now be more active, especially in a pool of recumbent bike.

Of course, I get scare stories from those who don't understand how hard it is to lose considerable weight, especially since the advice is given by those without a weight issue. I've been a little heavier than this, but when I went on metformin for dm, I immediately lost weight without even trying. The sleeve is probably the best, but I don't know. Reversible sounds the least problematic because it is reversible. I wouldn't even consider a bypass because of the malabsorption issues.

I have an appointment with Dr. Raul Rosenthal at the Cleveland Clinic for a consultation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
