  1. I was just wondering people's experience with the Pure Protein bars (Costco). Why do they suggest on the package to drink 8oz of water with the bar? I'm 7 months post rny and was able to eat the whole bar (did not follow the package and did not drink water)... It was pretty tasty too.
  2. Mine checks in the OR while we are still under. Then later I had to drink blue apple juice and check my drain line... No swallow or anything else.

  4. I just asked them to break it. I took a forth starting week two and just made sure it really melted before swallowing.

  6. I'm still a newbie but you look amazing!!!
  7. following. You are not alone.
  8. Thank you... I think I was afraid of that answer as being able to drink a little more at a time gave me hope on someday soon making my fluid goal. I will slow it down.
  9. I have had zero issues with eating when I do too. It seems a little weird really. My only intake complaint is that it's really hard to get enough fluids in. Physically it's been easier then expected (well days 2-4 were brutal but it was my drain), emotionally and psychologically it's TOUGH.
  10. Hey there. I'm almost 3 weeks post op rny (12/16) and I just wanted some input on a few things. - Is it ok that I can take almost normal drinks? I'm not talking gulps by any means just normal drinks at a time. I still don't take more then one drink at a time but should I still be taking baby sips? - It takes me a long time to drink my shakes. So long that I really have no time to eat. Now it doesn't hurt to drink at all but I'm not pushing it by drinking a lot at once so between my shakes and trying so very hard to get enough liquids in slowly I just don't really have time to eat. Is this normal and ok? Thanks for any input

  14. My surgery was 12/16 and I went home the next day. Had some pain from my drain but once that was removed I was fine. I have little kids too 1 and 5 and I totally understand what you mean. It's hard! I haven't had any issues tolerating anything either. I wonder if I'm doing something wrong. It's a project getting in enough fluids. I tolerate them just fine but the small sips are killing me. I am so thirsty!!! I have really been doing my protein shake in the morning with vitamin (that takes 3 hours) then just a little soup juice for lunch. And another shake in the evening with sipping water or G2 in between. Glad your overall doing well! What are you eating? Just curious for ideas. I'm still on full liquids.
  15. How are my 12/16 friends doing?

  21. My doc removed the drain on Monday (5 days post op) since it was causing me pain. I was scheduled to have it out a one week post op. I'm so much better since that drain is out!!! But it did get a ton of excess fluid out so I guess there's that... I don't miss it a bit!
  22. Hey 12/16 Surgery twin! How are you doing? Tonight I have soreness in my abdominal area... Not pain anymore. I feel I am getting better every day! There is a light at the end of the tunnel. A beautiful rainbow awaits us after the storm. How are you?! I'm doing MUCH better! No more pain, just sore and tire out easy but I'll take it!!!
  23. I didn't get a morphine pump! That sounds fabulous though!!! I'm actually feeling MUCH better today. I was able to get some gas out of my tummy last night and today I saw the doc who said my drain had dropped inside my abdomen and that's what was causing most of my pain as it was touching other things inside of me. He removed it and..... Oh so much better!!!
  24. Update: so I've turned the pain corner and today and feeling much better. I saw my dr today and apparently my drain dropped inside of me and that is what was causing so much intense pain. He removed it and I feel much better. I was also finally able to get some of the gas out of my tummy last night ???? super gross but oh so necessary. I'm snuggling my 1 year old right now!
