After a day of incredible pain, I called my surgeon. He told me told me to go to the ER, where I would have a CT scan to look for leaks. Sure enough, there was over 1.5 liters of blood in my abdomen. After another surgery, I'm resting in my hospital room, proving once again that Murphy's Law is still alive and well for me!

I am just about 3 weeks post op gastric bypass and looking for more ideas of pureed foods. I am so tired of eggs, refried beans and yogurt. I'm going to try the ricotta bake and smoothies tomorrow, but still need a few ideas to keep it interesting. Can't tolerate tofu or fat free gravy and not allowed to have meat yet. Thanks in advance Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

I am 2 weeks out and I am curious what everyone lost by this point? I am worried that I messed something up or I can't loose more etc (I know that it takes time but I feel Impatient) I lost 20lbs in week one and nothing since!!! Is that normal? I also have troubles getting hurt enough protein etc in daily, could this been preventing me from loosing more? I also have a higher starting weight. On the day of surgery I was 361, today I am 340....any suggestions would be great :-)

I had my 6 month check in today and they are happy with my progress. I'm down 84 pounds from my highest weight. But somehow still feel like I'm failing. I'm 266 and would personally like to reach 150. So that will have to be 200 pounds total loss. My surgeon thinks I'll only reach 180. I know not much difference but it just smarts I guess. My nut says I should still only be eating 1/2 cup food total per meal. But I can eat more than that and have mainly been eating til comfortably full. Is this truly what I should be eating per meal? My surgeon was surprised I was still feeling any restriction with my sleeve this far out and that really confused me. I thought r…

My surgeon had me start on full liquids when I got home from the hospital yesterday. The list he gave me included grits, cream of wheat and mashed potatoes thinned. I keep picturing those tiny grit pieces getting stuck on my staple line. Is this a typical stage one diet or is it usually clear liquids only? I'm only 3 days post-op and am nervous about eating anything except broth, yogurt and water.

Hi gang! I'm doing pretty well, at least in terms of weight loss. I'm exercising every day, walking on my treadmill and swimming when time allows. I still find myself struggling with denser forms of protein. I am a little more than 8 weeks out. Sometimes I curse this difficulty but I know in reality it's my tool working for me. I can't do eggs of any style (I loved them before). My favorite meal is Zoodles with meat sauce (and protein powder). I have trouble with chicken especially white meat. The other day they served us paella at work and I took a few shrimp out of there and had that and even that made me gag. I can do ground up Wendy's chili and that goes d…

Hi, I'm two days post op and my throat is killing me. I'm guessing it was the breathing tube. But I'm on tramadol so I don't get why it doesn't kill the pain? Anyone else have this?

Hi all, I was sleeved Thursday morning 8/10/17. I am now on day three. I have no appetite so I am forcing down my shake. I really would know long long it took before you could drink normally without sipping. I know the purpose of sipping but not how long.

Hi Group, So I'm a month and 2 weeks post op. My doctor already cleared me to work out and do weights. I have spoken to a few people that said to stay away from weight as it may stall the weight loss process. Any recommendation or can anyone share there own experience. Im don't want to stall the weight loss but I think incorporating weights will help with the skin and muscle. Thanks

Hi all- I was sleeved on 7/31. Since Sunday night, I've had near constant stomach pain. It's not a throbbing pain, just a constant "punched in the gut" feeling. It's been very difficult to sleep and do much of anything during the day because of it. Doesn't matter if I'm standing, sitting, or laying down - nothing makes it more comfortable. I consulted with my surgeon yesterday and he didn't seem concerned as I don't have any symptoms of sleeve leakage (no fever, swelling, etc). Said I could restart the pain meds again, which I've done, and they have pretty much eliminated the pain, even if it's only for four hours at a time. I'm concerned because I felt pretty goo…

Has anyone had any issues with taste after surgery? I was sleeved on 7/11 and can't seem to tolerate protein drinks, protein powders, artificial sweeteners, dairy. Everything tastes so sweet or milk tastes so sour. I've ordered a protein powder made from egg whites hopefully that will be better. Even water doesn't taste very good. Hoping this is temporary. It has been a struggle getting my fluids in and I haven't met protein goals yet. Sent from my SM-G935R4 using BariatricPal mobile app

After being on liquids since July 7th I had my first puree meal. I've been waiting for this day. My stomach is talking to me, but all went down well and I didn't have any complications. I could only eat about 4 baby spoonfuls. This pyrex will last me forever!

I am checking out 2 programs for my WLS, and after first info session last week I was all for the sleeve. Then had info session tonight with the other program, and they made RNY sounded like a much more sound choice, given that there's 20 years of data on the procedure, most reliable loss, AND. The surgeon told us not everyone experiences dumping syndrome.....I thought ALL RNYs caused dumping for all patients??? The surgeon said only about 20% of their patients experience dumping.... Is this possible? Please tell me your experience with RNY and dumping syndrome? I really was leaning sleeve out of fear of living with dumping, but maybe it's not as prevalent as I feared…

Hi friends, Need advice from those of you farther out than me. I'm going on a work conference a little over a month from now. I'll be there for 4 days, and meals will be provided by the hotel. My organization is great, and are more than willing to make accommodations if needed. I just don't know what to ask for or what I'll be eating by then! What were you mostly eating at 10 weeks out? What should I request? I'm flying in a few days early to visit a friend and that will give me a chance to purchase a few things like protein shakes, cheese sticks, etc. I'll also request a mini fridge and microwave when checking in to the hotel. Any other tips?

I’m a newbie here, getting sleeve in September. Has anyone started vitamins prior to surgery and also, anyone using or tried the vitamin patches? Trying to get myself prepped and wondered if vitamins in advance would help boost my system.

I had surgery a week ago and have only lost 2 lbs from day of surgery!! My doctor has me on clear liquids the first week and I have been perfect - getting over 60 ounces in without a problem and no cheating. I see all these posts about loosing a ton the first week and it's making me worried. Anyone who has been around for a bit care to weigh in here??

Any suggestions on how to cook or season lean proteins that doesn't end up with them being super dry and boring? I mean, I'm super excited to finish the pureed stage in a week but the thought of eating poached or baked lean proteins sound dry and flavorless. Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app

Hello all- The only "rule" per say that I have been told about my vitamins was not to take the iron and calcium together. They need to be at least 2 hours apart. With that being said, can I take both multi vitamins together, both calciums together and the 3 irons together? That would make only 3 separate Vitamin times to remember, verses 7. I have been slowly starting the vitamins and tomorrow will be starting to take all of them every day. I started off by taking one of each a day to make sure I wouldn't become nausea.

Guys! I'm 10 days post op. I've been wearing a binder to the extent where it fits comfortably. I'm home alone with my two-year-old and my husband is out with my oldest girls. I was freezing so today was the first time I bent over to put my socks. I got the worst pain ever in the chest area. But it was not my chest it was my stomach.I ate a Fudgsicle about an hour ago. I have not had any thing to drink. Got up and walked around and that pain that made me feel nauseated and gave me a cold sweat and clammy hands is gone now. It really freaked me out. Imagining the worst keeling over with my 2 year old in the house. I burped a couple burps and that pain has subsided. Has anyo…

While I've lost 20 lbs on pre op and first post op week, my clothes fit fine. I'm wondering on average how many pounds one loses to need to go down a size. I know it is too soon for me to think of this, but some of you have dropped a LOT of sizes. When did it start? Was there a consistent number of pounds that slid you down the next size?

I live alone in an apartment that requires two flights of stairs, and has no elevator access. My 70 year old mother is going to be helping me after surgery but I really don't want to put her in a situation of having to go up and down the stairs to run errands or worse helping me up those stairs after surgery. So my current plan is to go home from the hospital to my parents home that is about a 3 hour car ride away ( I feel like its worth mentioning this would be mostly on I-95 through the DC metro area). At their home I would have a bedroom and bathroom on the first level of the home and would not have to tackle stairs until I was ready, I would also be around my family f…

I am on my way home after being at a work conference for five days. The conference was held at a hotel and all food was catered at a hotel. While I've gone to restaurants a few times with friends since surgery this was my first time being away from my kitchen and independently managing, cooking, and weighing my food for such a long period of time. A couple of things jumped out and just seemed so disconnected from what I am now accustomed to Huge plates. I mean huge. People filling their plates. I could not eat what I served myself that maybe took up 1/6th of the plate. 10 different selections. Two to three proteins, 2 veg, 2 salads and 2-3 starches not including the d…

List all of the different foods you ate during your liquid stage post-op (full or clear). Lets come together to create a master list of awesome ideas to eat during this stage of the process so we can learn from each other!

I have been having severe back pain since last June. I have been through a multitude of procedures because of my spine history. Although the MRI of my thoracic spine shows some problems they are not significant enough to cause this pain. In November I had surgery to remove a nonfunctional neurostimulator thinking the leads were impacting a nerve. Following that surgery the pain in my midback and right side including the ribs grew worse. They started me on Vicodin and kept me on it for several months now. It did not touch this pain. I had my shoulder repaired on 2/12 and they added MS Contin along with the Vicodin. That finally helped make me more comfortable. I was ref…
