Okay so I am 16 weeks Post Op and feel like I eat nothing. Everything sits funny except for cheese and shredded chicken. But every 2 weeks or so I go through a few days where anything and everything hurts. Drinking water (flavored because plain water hurts) even feels like I have swallowed something wrong. It lasts about a day and a half then goes away. Kinda feels like morning sickness in a sense (Not pregnant I have done tests) I can't drink protein drinks. I know I am not getting enough protein... can anyone offer any advise as to what I can do? Or if this uppity tummy is normal and will pass?

What are alternatives to walking after surgery? I have peroneal tendonitis and am currently in a boot to restrict movement. I will force myself to walk at the hospital, but I won't be able to take walks on a regular basis. I do have a stationery recumbent bike. Would that be okay to use? I'm going to talk to my surgeon on Tuesday but also wanted to get thoughts and suggestions here.

...I'm wondering if I can take my liquid hydrocodone slightly more often than recommended on the label. While I was in recovery at the hospital, I was on IV dilaudid and was in GREAT shape. Got up to work every hour with no problem, drank baby sips of water and vegetable broth and tolerated both great. I was released in the afternoon (paying out of pocket, os no overnight stay) and sent home with liquid hydrocodone. The intructions say to take every 4-6hrs, but Im finding the pain returning right around the 3rd hour. My dr said i should always try to get ahead of the pain. Depending on how I do tomorrow, I may switch to liquid tylenol instead. A few mo…

So I haven't got my surgery yet I still have 9 days [emoji16] but I have a question regarding working out. I am aware while you are in the hospital they give you this type of girdle thing to try to keep you together for the pain. After the 4 weeks have anyone try to use one of those workout waist trainer things? I workout regularly now but I wanted to sweat more in the stomach area but not sure if that will affect my incisions. Any advice?

My surgeons office has a generic calorie guide of about 600 calories for my stage (3 months post op). I struggle to go that low- I generally end up around 800-900. I am still losing... Should I be limiting myself more? I am eating healthy- non starchy, high protein, low fat. Thoughts? I just want to make sure I am making the most of my honeymoon period. For some reason the search isn't working for me right now, it just makes my page crash. I did try to find this before I asked! I had my RNY on Thursday last. Everything went perfectly, and I came home yesterday (Saturday). I'm working on fluids and protein. I have a G tube for some reason I can't remember (those drugs are STRONG) so I can put liquid protein straight into Q-bic (my pouch) if I get to the end of the day and I'm behind. So all is well. Except I have this annoying dry (regularly productive at first, now rarely) cough. It started in the hospital and no one seemed bothered by it. They said it's normal, cough it up and get rid of it. Okay. I can do th…

So I'm starting week 3 post op tomorrow. But I'm heading up to the lake for a few days. So I did some meal prep here. First off. I'm so done with chicken broth, cream soup with all the good stuff missing, popsicles and jello.... I've eaten so much jello... ugh... But I just quickly made up that Ricotta cheese bake and what I call my Ground Turkey Burrito Casserole. And HOLY. Real food tastes so damn good. I'm a day early but snuck a bite from each and I thanks God for a solid 5 minutes as I just let it sit in my mouth. I know 2 oz. is only like 5 bites, but I'm going to milk the **** out of those 5 bites. The hard part is over. Loosing Weight an…

Hello! I'm three weeks post op and just started the soft foods phase. I can get down maybe a tablespoon of egg, 3/4 of an Oikos Triple Zero yogurt and a cheese stick all day. Is that enough? I'm also taking my vitamin and trying to get all that water down.

I return to work Monday night and I'm a little confused as how to manage my eating/protein/water and vitamins/B12/calcium schedule. I've been following a schedule now since I've been waking up in the morning and going to sleep by 10pm. Can anybody share their schedule with me ? Pleaseee. I got sleeved on July3rd . So I'm week post opt . Im looking for anyone who basically want to be there for each other with support and questions that normal people (ones who didn't get surgery) wouldn't understand. I feel like I always do my best when I have motivation and a support team there for me . I made a Instagram account strictly for my sleeve stuff because i didn't really tell anyone i was getting it. I hate when people say its the easy way out because there is nothing easy about this. So i kept it to myself . So if anyone wants to be friends feel free to add or message me . Im 23 from ny , Im really nice lol and I talk to like everyone [emoji846] My instagram n…

Just curious if anyone drinks coffee and if so, how soon you were able to start after surgery? I usually enjoy decaf but its always been hard on my tummy so I haven't even tried. Its not on this list of things my dr told me not to do, so I though I would ask others. School starts next week and I wanted to know if I can partake (I will be 3 weeks post op and on soft food by then)

Wow! What a difference! Day 1 2 and 3 were painful and horrible. Finally today I'm feeling 1000x better!! I was able to eat 6 Oz protein broth and 2 TBS Greek yogurt + a bit of water. I'm down 20 pounds since my pre-op liquid diet. Going back to work Monday and feel like I can handle it. Whew. I was miserable for a few days. Good luck all!

I was sleeved 7/1/17 and it's been about a month now since my surgery. I used to weight myself every single day until I started loosing less at about 3 weeks post-op. I am now at the solid foods stage and noticed that I'm probably eating more than I should. I also noticed that I can eat a lot of chips (which I know it's not good, and I stopped already.) but I weighed myself on Thursday, 7/27, and noticed I had gained 2 pounds! I really started freaking out. I'm kind of scared that I'm over eating and starting to gain...?! Is that possible?? Since my operation I have lost 26 pounds... counting my pre-op stage I have lost a total of 40 pounds. Being completely honest... i …

Silly question but I'm really curious if sex changes after WLS? I mean both physically and mentally. Is there a notable change in body elasticity, flexibility etc. in my mind I'm thinking it'll be a significant difference like after childbirth (I don't have kids) I suspect it'll be more varied physically but I'm really really curious if the physical changes messes w the head. I kinda don't wanna be thrown by any surprises? Btw, I'm pre-op and usually single but definitely not a novice. I feel like it's an incredibly silly question but I'd appreciate both male and female perspectives.

And then it hit me. After a couple of days feeling full of beans my energy level just fell off a cliff. My surgeon said it was likely so I don't feel any enormous emotional upheaval but it really does feel different. I'm still pain free with no gastric issues I'm just physically tired all of a sudden. Taking it easy is, unsurprisingly, the obvious response. Instead of fighting it I'm napping, sipping and walking - no pressure. My first puréed meal was very welcome. I had made up a batch of beef ragu, puréed it and frozen it pre-op. It goes down well, little nibbles from the tip of a teaspoon of rich rich flavours and at least some texture. Feels good. I'm not very c…

I was sleeved 6 month ago and have lost close to 55 pounds (I am not loosing too much weight like many others and I don't regret it). Since 2 weeks, I've notice that my boobs have been sagging a lot compared to what they were before. I used to wear 42DD before the surgery and now 40DD is good. I picked up about 7 different types of underwire bras, but none of them seem to feel right. My doc suggested that I try compression sports bra and that should do the trick. But, when I tried sports bras, I do feel like my boob is hanging someone in the cup, I don't feel comfortable. I am not sure if I am putting across my point correctly. Even after 6 months of operation, …

So,... I have my sleeve done Aug. 1st. I had to pre-order my meds because WALMART could not even fill one. They each had to be ordered. I pick it up today and my pain meds are liquid hydrocodone(ok with that) I was told not to fill the expensive one unless needed, however, they had NONE of these so, I went ahead and had them order them...2nd was a pain patch $95...was told $75 when it was ordered on Monday evening). I told them to put it on hold because I normally have a high-tolerance to pain and hoping I could save the 100. Third- Vitamin D in PILLS(about the size of gas pills-softgel) Fourth-Nausea Aprepitant-3-pills--much bigger hard capsule pills.(Also the one he did…

Hi guys. So tomorrow I am a week post op GS and I am feeling hungry more often than I think I should. I've been keeping up with my broth, SF Jello & Ice Pops and also my Isopure but I still find myself hungry. Has anyone else had this feeling? I have lost 15 lbs since then but I feel like I need a bit more to fill my belly. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.... [emoji1384]

Ok so I had my sleeve on 7/25, and they also took out my gallbladder. I spent roughly 35 hours in the hospital, very uncomfortable, and nauseous. I threw up after drinking a little tea & broth that the hospital brought me, so I've tried to be very careful of how much liquids I take in at one time, but I'm just scared I'm not getting enough. I'm 4 days out, I'm only getting in 1 premier protein shake a day, and about 40 ounces of water. I still have a decent amount of trapped gas, but I'm trying to move plenty to get it worked out. I'm walking 3-4 times a day at least 100 yards each time. My greatest discomfort is on the right side of my stomach where they took my stom…

I've been feeling down for about a week now because I haven't been really losing much during my second week post op. I've been walking and getting as much liquid in as I can but I can't quite get in all 80g of protein. Aside from that, anything I swallow causes really sharp pains in my stomach and esophagus so it makes me not want to eat anything but popsicles all day. The pains just become too much that I'll just have to lay down until they pass or everything comes back up. I'm really just discouraged at the moment and waiting for things to get better.

Hey everyone I'm about 3 weeks out. When I started the process I was 393 now I'm down to 345. I lost 16 pounds before surgery and the rest I lost after. I weighed myself one day apart and I lost 11 lbs in 24 hours. Wowowww wondering if anyone else is having a quick weight drop I don't get all my liquids in per day but I do drink plenty of water and a protein shake although now I'm on the puréed diet. Just wondering if anyone has similar results.

4 days post op and just starting to feeling a little better. It seems that most of you guys fly past the first week and the surgery was easy. I could not hold liquids down day 2 at all. Day three I was much better nothing came up. One thing I did not know to except was the blood clots that can come out your nose. I did have a hernia repair along with vsg so I am not sure I that is what is taking me longer heal up. I have not been taking my pain medication but I always feel light headed. Anyone experiencing this?

Surgery yesterday, and my swallow test went perfectly this morning. My doctor says "you're maybe even a little ahead" (I've been doing laps around the nurses station). And who knew that chicken broth would taste this good?? And who knew that I'd be in a place where I hadn't eaten in 30 hours, and a few spoonfuls of broth were good to go? Who is this person? Just...WOW. I was really worried about eating so little food with that driving, desperate hunger. I get it now, though. Bye bye, Hungry Monster!

Day 3 post op. I have awful cramping pain. I'm only able to drink 5oz yesterday. Today I mixed protein powder (50g) with 5 oz milk and it takes me ALL day to drink it. The thought of forcing myself to drink makes me naeuous. I'm weak and very tired. Took lots of oxy last night, but none today. How much do you honestly drink at this stage. My nutritionist says 64oz, but that's not even possible. Help!

Day two begins at home... in our own bed. That's so much better and sleep is a complete blessing. I'm not sure if I should post a status report or run round the block waving streamers - I feel so good it's almost indecent. Anyway, here's where I'm at. I have no pain. None. I'm faint;y aware of the incision points but no more than if I had nicked myself shaving. I'm drinking as much as I like, I'm not swigging but I can sip constantly and have had a water, watered down fresh apple juice, a latte, some Complan (for those of you in the US it's a recovery drink) and some other hot drinks. I have to say I'm over the sweet stuff already and have some beef shin and …

My very first post, been a background creeper for quite a while. 15 days post op and having trouble with incisions. I'm thinking I might have trouble with the prolene suture they used on 3 on my holes. My mother had trouble with her cesarean incision becoming infected weeks post-op, but I'm not even 3 weeks out yet. I finished my antibiotics on Tuesday (roughly 5 days ago) but perhaps I should ask my regular doctor (that has no idea I went to Mexico for a sleeve) for an Rx? He will also not be pleased to know that placed some sutures myself. I work at a vet clinic and so actually sutured myself (yes I did so in a sterile manner) because the incision they left open was st…

So I'm six months post op I'm down 112lbs!! And I'm having some sex troubles that hopefully someone can help me out with! My surgeon knows how hard it is to get fluids in right after surgery and he knows nutritional help for healing is non existent because stomach surgery, so he has everyone receive an IV the next day with a Meyers Cocktail vitamin and mineral infusion in it. And if you are local you can come in weekly for more. If you've been having as hard a time as I am getting enough fluid in, see if you can't find a place you could get a vitamin and mineral infused IV to help you avoid dehydration. I got another today, a week out from surgery, and it helped me feel so much better, and it has to help me heal. I've gotten my protein in for the past two days, but I haven't met my…

I start soft foods phase on Friday and I'm confused. Since I got my surgery in MX I don't have a nutritionist to ask. I emailed my coordinator but her response made no sense and I think she just made it up. Here is what the instructions are: I asked her, whether I am supposed to wait 30 minutes between eating and drinking the shakes because it specifically says NOT to eat and drink at the same time. She said I can drink a protein shake while eating because it is a thicker consistency. This is simply not true, my shakes are super thin and the whole point is to not wash down the food. However, if I wait 30 minutes I will be eating and drinking all day long. …

I am two weeks post op and just transitioned to "soft proteins." I work in a small office and we always go out to get lunch and eat together as a group at the office. I told everyone that I was out for hiatal hernia repair and have explained to them that I have some diet restrictions as a result. All last week at work I ate my purees/liquids at my desk. This week I decided to join back up with the group and I am getting so many inquiries about my small portion sizes and diet plan. Its getting difficult to keep up the charade. I want to eat with everyone else like normal. I don't want to be rude, but I do want all the questions to stop. Any advice?
