  1. Started by Kayla Monee,

Hi all! I am new here and I didn't' see a newbie section hopefully I didn't overlook it. I just had surgery Friday morning so, I'm 3 days post op. When I woke up, I wasn't in any pain but I was extremely nauseous. I was given phenegran but that also knocked me out, for the rest of the day. They got me up and walking 4 hours after the surgery which was fine because even though I was sore, there was no real strong pain. Using the incentive spirometer hurt more than me walking to and from the nurses station. I've been eating frozen sugar free popsicles and drinking water. I haven't used any pain meds since leaving the hospital and haven't had to use the nausea meds eith…

Hey y'all , I'm 6 days post op and I'm a little bored with broth, soup, and what not . I see halo ice cream has protein in it and it's relatively not too bad . Has anyone else spoken with their doctor about being able to eat it ? Thanks !

  4. Hey everyone! I'm 9 months post op VSG and have lost about 105 pounds so far (including pre-op liquid diet). Everything in general has been good so far, except for the past two weeks I've been experiencing a lot of abdominal and side pain after eating, and also some really terrible bloating, gas, nausea, and constipation. Did an ultrasound a few days ago and it turns out I have a contracted gallbladder full of stones. I know that the only way to get rid of gallbladder problems is to do gallbladder removal surgery, but I've been doing a lot of research and I've been finding that A LOT of people have been complaining that they experience uncontrolled weight gain after …

  7. Started by Adenosine,

I was sleeved today (well, now yesterday) on 7/7. So far so good! I had a good amount of pain and nausea in the recovery room, but one dose of pain medication and nausea medication helped that a lot. My procedure was at 9am and I was down for my swallow study at 3pm! All went well--the barium was nasty to swallow by itself, but it had to be done so alas it was lol. I've been walking so so much since I've come up to my room. So far I've done about 30 laps on the unit which is equivalent to 1 1/4 miles. I had another episode of pain later in the evening about 6:30, so they gave me more pain medication. I've been doing well since then. I definitely have a lot of air in my a…

After losing over 80 lbs in 7 months, I'm having gallbladder attacks. They're mini attacks now, but I know I have stones. I have had ultrasounds before to prove that one. My question is twofold: 1. how is the recovery? 2. How is the weight loss afterward? Does it change anything? Thank you!!

After month of liquids total from preop and post op, I was feeling so incredibly thirsty all the time. I was drinking 100oz of fluid and had clear urine. Turns out since I was only doing my protein shakes that have 11% of my daily sodium recommendations each, I wasn't getting enough sodium to actually have the fluids I was drinking enter my tissues and blood. It was just going straight through me and compounding my dehydration. Lesson learned. Make sure you keep up in you electrolyte balance. HW-292 • SW (6/29/17) 256.6 • CW 243.2

  11. I notice a consistent pattern regarding my ability to eat solids. I am almost 5 weeks out. No matter how little I put on my plate- if I am able to go as slow as I should and listen to my body, I can NEVER finish it in one sitting. I'm supposed to be up to 3 ounces now but most times I still put 2 ounces on my plate. Whether I put 2 or 3 ounces on my plate, there is ALWAYS a small quantity of food left after a meal (so unusual for me- since I was a small child my grandfather's "make a clean plate or you won't get custard" always rings in my ears). And what's funny is, it's usually the same amount remaining! (Is this psychosomatic?) If I clean my plate now, I al…

  14. Thanks again to everyone in these forums for all of your posts and inspiration. Even if I don't respond often I read just about every post here and it's been very helpful for me in my journey. I was sleeved June 12. I feel like I am doing very, very well with my weight loss (56.4 pounds since the beginning of my liquid diet and 36.4 pounds since my sleeve). I am able to walk for short periods every single day on my treadmill. When I started this journey I was unable to even stand (let alone walk) for more than a couple of minutes without being EXHAUSTED- so I can already see a difference and I am VERY grateful for the changes to my body that have already occur…

I'm one week post op and I'm having a lot of pain from my catheter and I'm in a bunch of pain when I lay down to sleep but throughout the day it isn't so bad, both on my back or either side I lay on. The doctors sent me home with a bottle of liquid pain meds but I only have one serving left and just wanted to know if you think they would give me any more or would they look at me like I'm trying to get extra pain meds? If like 9/10 people are off pain meds a week out i won't even call them. Just wanted to see what everyone's experiences were post op so early on.

But; big but, I cannot eat ice cream, frozen yogurt, fruit smoothies, cake and chocolate in bar form. I know that some of these things are no-nos. But, in the off times that I eat them, I get very sick. I get sweaty, dizzy, have trouble concentrating and finishing sentences. I feeling nearly poisoned. What confuses me is that it is not consistent after 14 years. Does anyone else have similar issues?

I had my surgery in 2007 and have had ups and downs like most of us. I have fought ADD for most of my life not wanting to be medicated. I finally conceded and have been on adderall for about 3 years. It has been a god-send to me. Now, I don't feel like it works as well anymore and I'd like to try vyvance. Has anyone with a lapband used it? What are your experiences? Would you recommend one over the other? And could you suggest a dosage?

  31. I have my first 'fill' appointment this coming Monday, just over 6 weeks from my surgery date of 1st June 2017. My starting weight was 149kg (328lbs). I lost 12kg (26.5lbs) during the 2 weeks pre surgery liquid diet, and in the 6 weeks since surgery I have lost 11kg (24lbs). I have lost the weight through eating 1500 calories per day (tracked on myfitnesspal), and walking for 1 hour, 6 days per week. My diet is completely on point, hitting my carb, fat and protein macros each day. So I have decided I'm going to go to the appointment, but I'm not going to get the band tightened...yet. I feel completely satisfied with the amount I'm eating, no hunger at all, a…

Today is May 3rd, 2017 and it has been about 8 weeks since my Gastric Bypass Surgery - losing weight feeling good - nothing smells or taste good and all cravings are gone! I truly have no desire to eat at all and all -in-all I am eating a total of 6 ounces of food a day NOT including my shakes. Looking for advise or thoughts....

  35. This week I went for my three month checkup and I had lost 50% of my goal weight which is where they had me at for 6 months. I have worked really hard on my nutrition, CrossFit, sleep and supplements. My biggest concern with being to fast is the excess skin and my other concern was if I went to slow I would lose the benefits of the surgery. Most people told me the first 6 months is where I needed to lose the bulk of my weight.

So, today is my 6th day post op, 4th day home back from the hospital. I am doing better with my food and water intake today. Still not great, but better, I was able to eat a bit more and drink a bit more and add some protein as well but I am nowhere near where I am supposed to be limits wise. My biggest problem right now is getting my vitamins in. I am able to get a few in but I am having problems with all of them. I was just wondering if this is normal and everyone goes thru it? I am not as tired today and was even able to walk on my treadmill, just the intake of foods, water and vitamins... Is it normal for gastric bypass?

The things I can do now that I couldnt before such as drive without the steering wheel on my stomach, tie my shoes without being out of breath, walk up stairs without hurting, play with my son. These are just a few things I can do now. So far I have lost a total of 110lbs! The only loose skin I have is my arms but it's always been like this. Working out to tone them up as much as possible!!! Guys what's your story.

That is mathematically impossible as I would have to be consuming an additional 7000 calories a week to gain a pound. I am NOT..... unless this water weight fluctuation &/ or PMS....I cannot think this type of restrictive dieting can lead to any gain. Please please shed some light on this for me.

I've tried every thing I know to get whatever is in there out, but it won't budge. Anytime I try to vomit, it's foamy stuff that comes out. Is anyone else going through the same? 44. Hi All. I am currently in the process of scheduling my vertical sleeve surgery. I am of course nervous and have some of the typical doubts, but generally feel pretty good about the procedure itself. We have an experienced bariatric surgery team at my local hospital. The item that seems to concern me the most right now is the prospect of excess skin and whether I would be forced to have more difficult plastic surgery down the road. I'm pretty new here and I'm scheduled for surgery July 4th (EEK!) with Dr. Illian. I drink alcohol very rarely now...but I am a mother of an almost two year old, so occasionally a glass of wine or a nice cold beer really hits the spot. I was just curious on post-op how your body tolerates that? I know that wine may be a little easier on the belly, as long as it's not "bubbly". Just curious on what others experiences have been. Thank you for the info!
