RNY scheduled for 8/9. Dr hoping it will reduce my pain, nausea, and improve motility. Wondering if anyone else out there had gastroparesis before their surgery and what their experience was like.

My surgeon says my surgery went well with no complications. Once I woke up i was in a lot of pain in my abdomen. It feels like you are being stabbed over and over and in waves of pain. I do have gas but it's subsiding as I walk and pass gas. When I got back to my room the pain would not subside. My 1st nurse was rude and told me that I'm only allowed a certain amount of pain medication at a certain time as it was prescibed. I put up with pain until I got mad cause I felt like I was being tortured. She came at 430pm and gave me morphine. It did nothing I called for her 4 times after and she was ignoring me. I was in so much pain. My bf had left to walk our dog and I was a…

Hi All, I am one week out from being sleeved. I have been doing great following my liquids diet (and oddly totally OK with it) and had struggled with nausea for a few days post up and then the added bonus of constipation. Minus those road blocks, I have been doing and feeling well until out of no where, I have been hit with the worst anxiety. I haven't had true anxiety in a very long time. Last night my husband and I were talking about the normal things I will face (eating out in public, in-laws visiting, holidays etc) and I started to find myself getting more and more agitated. I frantically started looking for videos and pictures to get an idea of how much f…

Like the topic said, I'm exhausted. I feel like I just want to lay down all the time. Could it be protein? Could it be dehydration? Could it be the ridiculously low amount of calories I take in on a full liquid diet? Could it be healing? Any suggestions, good people of the pouch?

Today was 6 weeks since I had surgery. I have so many questions! does anyone have trouble drinking water? It hurts so much every time I drink and there's no way I'm getting enough water. Any solutions? what is something yummy I can drink besides water and G2? I feel sick A LOT. Even when I don't eat I feel sick. Or mostly when I take one (very little) bite of something (on the diet) and swollow my stomach hurts often and I stop eating....is this normal?

So I got this weird allergy. It started on my chest as red bumps about 5 days ago. I then noticed they turned into brown patches. Then I noticed it was on my back, and really bad!!! I'm about to be 3 weeks post op on Tuesday. Should I be worried? Mom wants me to go to the hospital, I think I can wait to see my PCP. I'm just scared it's one of my organs or something lol

Hi everyone, just wanted to share a current update of where I am. I had my gastric bypass surgery October 18th, 2016. The picture on the right was taken the day before surgery with my weight of 220 and only being 5'1. My BMI was 41.6 at only 22 years old. The picture on the left is from yesterday August 1st 2017 10 months post op. Along with being obese I was also having major health issues such as acid reflux and an internal hernia. I was so iffy on this surgery especially being as young as I am. With others telling me that surgery is just an excuse and a easy way out, well guess what, it's not. This process required me to learn discipline, portion control, exercise, dri…

Hello fam, just a Lil update on my life . 7 months post op. I was sleeved Dec 5. I am officially divorced now. I am happy n really enjoying me in this new bod. The surgery wasn't the reason for my divorce ,my husband was a caterer cheater , lol. But the surgery made him feel that now I was a threat in the marriage because I was getting attention . But it was his insecurities n lied that kept him from appreciating the woman he had. So , hell with him, I'm single as a dollar bill now. I am 7 mos post op and down 90 lbs ( 89.7 to be exact). I weigh 153 lbs and I am 5'7. I now wear a size 4 in women's clothing and even fit into size 2 Vera wang dress today, NSV for…

I was intended to have my surgery on July 25th and my preop was scheduled for July 21st. So when my surgery was scheduled for a week later, I kept the same preop date. No wrought on day of surgery, and after doc said not to bother he'd put at least 10lbs of fluid in me since then. So I'll never know my true surgery date weight. So 2 days into a 14 day preop diet is the last I know. 412lbs.

Probably not mentally healthy for any thing more than just fun. But! As a big dude looking to get skinny. Any others want to have a friendly compitition on weight loss. I was sleeved July 10th. We can do monthly check ins. Encourage each other though friendly rivalry. Keep the bad stuff out of our mouths and keep us excersjsing... Maybe I'm just geared up for fantasy football starting up soon that now this too has to have some competition elements. No? Just me? Ok...

I had a sleeve 5 1/2 years ago for repairing something and then had a revision to RNY on June 12 this year because of so much acid. I had both for some other reasons not for weight loss. I don't remember when I started eating a plate of food after my sleeve. I was wondering how long it takes after RNY to eat a plate full or a full meal. I am on regular food now and can have 6 oz. per meal, but can't get it in.

4 months out and still naseous eating solids. Vegetable soup out of a can is fine. Fats and oils bad. Sometimes the thought of food is enough. Cheese is bad. Smoked salmon is bad. Even averse to dry crackers now. My surgeon says it's not gastroparesis (paralysis) due to vagus nerve damage. My theory: If they feed rats a new food and then make them ill with radiation, they develop a food aversion. In people eating something and then getting stomach flu makes them averse to the food. Cancer patients on chemo develop food aversions. So: What happens when you do major surgery on the stomach: you make us very ill so it's not surprising we develop food aversions. The scienti…

I started couch to 5k on Wednesday... I'm doing three days a week and have only done one day so far... my appetite seems to have increased since I did the first day Wednesday and I just wondered if it's related to running or if it is just normal VSG post op stuff when you have days where you feel you need to eat more often (still 2-3 ounces). Maybe it's a combination of both running and having periods through this journey where you're appetite increases. I'm about a week or two shy of 3 months post op.

Hi folks! I just had my surgery on Monday and have mostly been recovering pretty well (with some on and off acid-reflux, but the meds seem to be fixing that). My question is: in my stage 1 'clear liquids + 3 protein shakes' diet, do you think it would be ok to switch a couple of my protein shakes for protein powder mixed with non-fat, sugar free jello pudding? I did 3 weeks pre-op on protein shakes and already I am so incredibly sick of them (but I loooved protein pudding). What do you think? other ideas? Thanks!

So I read this on other blogs and posts when I've asked for advice about STOPPING the weight loss... "I wish I had that problem" This is not something I would wish on people I don't like, never mind folks with whom this journey has been shared (all of you here and on other sites). The decision to have VSG was a sound decision I made with my PCP, my husband, my family. After my VSG there were all the usual adjustments and new learnings; How to manage on such a small amount of food, how to choose the right foods and to eat the protein first, remembering to take my vitamins, dealing with hair loss and dry skin, managing the mind-f*$# of stalls, …

I always loved popcorn (before the surgery) and love it a little more now after the surgery . I was sleeved a little over 7 months ago. I have read many posts about popcorn being a slider food and totally agree. I cannot consume more than half a chicken wing, but can easily consume about 100-200 grams of popcorn. I was wondering if there is an alternate food that is healthy, fibrous and crunchy that can easily be substituted for popcorn? If yes, please share details.

Why are people so interested in what I'm eating! The " I didn't know you could have that" and the " look at you with your tiny portion" and the " that's all your eating", Is driving my slight crazy. I don't want to hide to eat. But wow every time! I get people have no clue and are curious. I think I am going to make a sign that says "yes this is all I'm eating, yes I can have anything I want, yes I get full on 2 tablespoons, shut up and let me enjoy them."

Hello, I am considering sleeve surgery in Mexico and Im looking for feedback from other individuals whom have traveled for their surgery. I will be traveling home to Canada following Surgery in Tijuana on a direct flight that will take about 3 1/2 hours, 4 days post op. Those who have done it, how tolerable is the flight? Is a wheelchair needed in the terminal? Any special supplies recommended to make the flight more comfortable? If we end up switching flights to having one with a layover, is that ok, or too much? Thanks guys! Sent from my SM-N910W8 using BariatricPal mobile app

I've heard that some people don't enjoy some foods the same or either don't tolerate them the same. This is in the context of foods that you are supposed to have not high fat/sugar stuff. Has anyone had this issue? Which foods are a no-no for you now?

I'm 41 , Mom of 2. I started out at 223 pounds (BMI 31) I'm 5'10". In 4 months including the pre-op I lost 49lbs total, today I weigh 174lbs and I'm 4 lbs from my goal of 170. If I loose 1 more pound my BMI will be 24.5 which will put me in the "Normal weight category" I do feel pretty good, I get tired the odd day, but not more then being overweight made me lazy. My hair is my biggest concern. I had such thick hair, my hairdresser always had to mix more stuff and always commented on the amount of hair I had ....well today I have about 1/2 that hair. I know it's temporary, I know it will come back, but it's not a nice feeling. I'm only at 4 months and if I keep loos…
