Today is my first day back at work (after 2 weeks off) I had my surgery 14 days ago. Had a little bit of nausea early post op. This morning getting ready for work I had a shake, drank frequently through the day, soup for lunch and casserole (puréed) for dinner and just puked. I've been feeling nauseous all day and a reflux type feeling... does anyone have any advice?

I am 5 weeks out and still can't drink or eat much at all. Water makes me sick but I always feel thirsty. I can eat a little soft food but anything like meats grounded up even hurt my stomach. Veggies don't seem to be a issue though. I have horrible constipation and know I need more fluid but I just can't get it down. Very nervous and surgeon sucks can't even get a call back. Please help.

Hi there...a week shy of 5 months post op RNY....down almost 80lbs. I will admit I am not taking my vitamins, water or protein like I should. I know...what a dumb f**k I am. I know. But I have started to take my liquid vitamins and my protein but did bad with water this week leading me to be SO constipated from Monday to today. All in all everything cleared out and I thought I was okay but the last couple of days I've been feeli my a sort of nauseas feeling and almost like indigestion but not fully since RNY...almost like a thick grease feeling in my throat. This is after I made and had about 3 oz of home made pulled pork. Since I am losing regularly I've been eating a ke…

Hi everyone, I am 1 week post op tomorrow and I will be switching to puréed foods... my stage two of my diet. I know everyone's is different. I have been doing protein shakes and clear liquids. This stage is pudding, strained cream soups, apple sauce, yogurt. First, what type of yogurt did you guys use? Very confused about how to make it palatable. I hate yogurt, especially plain but I want to try new things. Also, and unrelated, I am having pain at times during sleep and during the day in the top middle of my stomach almost like a bubble, lasts like 5 seconds and goes away. I am a mom so I am moving a lot .. Thanks in advance. Crystal, 30, Rhode Island Gastric slee…

This simple shaver can get the boredom out of your sugar free and beverage dilemmas! I've had mine for 4 years or more. I bought some of their delicious sugar free drink flavors and make my own shave Ice treats! I even put my protein shake on top of the ice for a mock 'ice cream' type treat and I loved it. Drinking a shake that way is fun, easy, not to mention, a faster way to enjoy your shake. You can purchase an easy and inexpensive shaver for your personal use and save money on Popsicles too. Here's the link to their website!! http://www.hawaiianshavedice.com Send me any questions you may have and I'll be happy to help!!!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using Bariatr…

30 days post surgery, down 40 pounds and the other day my lower left side starts hurting. Muscles spasms at first and now soreness. Also, my left shoulder started hurting again just like after surgery. I know there is some dehydration involved, but I freak out and fear kidney issues. I plan to call my doctor tomorrow if the pain hasn't subsided. Any thoughts?

Hi everyone! I had surgery on 8/22!! I was released the next day but when I got him I experienced some nausea. I think it was the anesthesia and pain meds. Anywho I took some meds and I am feeling much better. I have been walking around and trying to take in as much liquid as I can. I notice that gas makes me super uncomfortable but other than that I am doing well. Good luck to those of you having surgery soon!

Today is 2 weeks post op, and I'm feeling great! Down 18lbs, and thrilled to be done with the liquid phase! 1 month of liquids really sucks. Lol. I made a ricotta bake for dinner. It tasted amazing, but I was only able to eat a few bites.

So far so good. I'm still in the hospital, but maybe discharged later today. So far they have me pouring liquid into the 1 oz measuring cups (the kind III get with cough medicine) and drinking from those so they know I can tolerate liquids. My only real issue is with gas. They say they pump air into you during the surgery so it's all normal, but that's what hurts at the moment. How are my other August friends doing? We were 3 with the same exact date...

I have not had any problems from my surgery as of today with actual drinking versus sipping. Are we supposed to sip to help with the sleeve and not stretch our stomach or is it ok to drink normally if we can? No burping today, no gas. thanks in advance

I had surgery Thursday at 3:00pm. I had horrible gas in chest and shoulder for the first night. I kept walking and walking and the next day felt better not 100 percent. I came home today and every time I drink I feel my chest has something stuck in there. Is it still gas because I am still burping. I also have stomach spam when I take sips. Is this all normal???

Last night after work I went home and did what has now become a ritual. I made a cracker with chunky peanut butter and strawberry preserves. I know I am not supposed to do this - but this one thing feels like something I am going to hold on to, to keep, like a little prize for all the other things I didn't do earlier in the day and the other things I did do that I am supposed to do. Now, there have been some changes - instead of a full sandwich I use a very low carb wafer. And I measure the peanut butter out at 20 grams and I now splurge on this very high preserves that are made from these very tiny strawberries in the pacific northwest, etc. But it got me wo…

I had VSG 5 1/2 years ago for some upper GI issues, not really for weight loss. I had severe acid reflux also. The sleeve did not do anything to help my reflux, and recently my acid was out of control. My doctor said the only way to cure it and avoid more acid damage to my esophagus was RNY. So I had revision to bypass in June. He said I would experience acid for about 60 days maybe, but no more than that. I was on my two pills a day. I had reflux about twice a week very early morning. At about 7 weeks, my acid stopped. When I went to my post op, he told me to cut down to one pill a day, and then after a week if I still had no acid, to stop them completely. so…

I am looking for recommendations for shapewear. I am not new to shapewear, but I am having difficulty finding what I need that will work, and given good shapewear is very expensive, I am hoping some of the ladies here can give some good recommendations. I am 5'8", have lost 75 lbs, but am carrying most of my weight right now in my thighs, hips and lower belly. I would like to wear more dresses and skirts, but need to handle the thigh chub rub - for everything I am buying (which goes to mid thigh), the thigh parts are rolling up. I have tried Thighstincts (which is not shapewear), Spanx mid thigh body suits and other brands - but they all roll up. The only thing I…

Well I'm almost 6 weeks out and I've hit my first issue with my vsg. I can get really bad headaches due to inflammation and pinched nerves in my neck, one of the many reasons the decision to have the surgery. But I'm having a bad headache and this is the third day and it's at its worst. Aleve was my go to pill and worked wonderful and I'm not allowed to take that apparently. I had called the doctor yesterday and they said liquid Tylenol or crush a regular Tylenol. I did this and it didn't help . Does anyone have any recommendations? This is an inflammation issue due to my fibromyalgia and it flares a lot in my neck and low back/hips. Any help would be greatly appreciat…

I just had a revision from sleeve to bypass in June. My acid was terrible and literally had control! The sleeve did not do anything for my bad acid in 5 1/2 years. This was the only resolve for it was to have RNY. He said I would still experience a little acid for about 60 days. So I was still on my Pepcid twice a day. I still had reflux very early morning a couple times a week. I stopped having it about the end of seven weeks. He said to stop taking the second one for a week, and if I still had none, stop taking the second one too. I did, and have not had any acid! Finally! So my suggestion is that if you have severe acid and are opting for a sleeve, talk to your doctor …

I have surgery tomorrow and I feel like vomiting I am so nervous. I think I'm more nervous of what to expect when I wake up. Some people say it's so painful and some say they just had gas pains. I'm so freaked out. I am super excited to start my new journey but I am scared about pain. I usually do well with pain as I gave birth to two children with no epidural all natural. Everyone saids if you could do that then this will be super easy. Don't know how true that is [emoji45]

I've been following a ketogenic diet for the last 3 months and have been pretty successful. My surgeon originally wanted me to lose about 30 pounds and I have lost 25 and he has been happy with me so far. My nutritionist did not suggest keto, I kind of just took it in my own hands to follow keto instead of the high protein low fat diet they recommended. My main question here is, if you followed keto up until you got close to your surgery date what did you do when you got close to surgery? Did you go back to high protein low fat, or follow keto right up until the pre op liquid diet? I'm not sure what I wanted to do. My surgery isn't officially scheduled yet but I'm probabl…

Today is my first day back to work and I am having bad diarrhea and bloating. I'm on liquids until next week, and today I've had one premiere protein, sugar free jello, sugar free pudding, and less than one cup of blended lentil soup. All of these foods are on my dr's list and I had no problem with them on my pre-op diet or when I ate them sparingly in the first few days after surgery. Other than feeling uncomfortable from the bloating, I'm not having weird pain or other symptoms. Could this be a result of the sugar substitutes in my foods? If so, it's weird I didn't have this problem when I was home (however, I was on pain killers, which tend to cause constipation …

I started soft foods yesterday and I'm only 2.5 weeks out and it's so hard for me to get all my protein in and water for my goal. It's like I haven't found the right powder or shake for the protein and I get full fast. I want to do better so when my 6weeks comes up I can get back in the water and do water aerobics again. Any help or advice I'm really struggling. I just want to get back to everyday activities again. Tiffani[emoji1528][emoji757]️[emoji175]

I'm hoping to get some answers here. I had the sleeve done yesterday and have now vomited about 10 times. It's always dark yellow in color. Is this normal? Should I be contacting my surgeon? i have taken the nausea medicine but I don't usually feel nauseated, it just comes up every few hours then I feel fine again. I'd appreciate any advice anyone has or experience.

I am two weeks post op. My plan called for a solid week of clear liquids, and now I have been on full liquids (protein drinks, malt-o-meal, greek yogurt without fruit chunks, soups made with milk, etc.) During the day, I follow a schedule and consume between 3-4 ounces of non-protein heavy options. I also get in my protein options. I am consuming right around the recommended amount of 65 grams. I am drinking clear non-caloric liquids all day (except for 30 minutes before and after the “meal”). During the day, I do get a little hungry, but I am easily satisfied by following the prescribed plan. At night, I feel hungry. I am not sure what to ma…

StRted soft mushy food and I feel full after a couple bites but like I feel like I have to eat a lot more. Like I'll eat 5 bites and then wait a hour or so eat another 5 bites or so. Is that normal? Also for some reason I feel a lot more energize with food than I did the liquids. Even though technically it's not as much protein but I still feel kinda a lot better is this normal? I'm wondering if anyone else is having "new" experiences with workplace stress. Pre-op, not much turned my stomach. I'd let a lot roll off my back, the small stuff was never an issue. Now 2 months post op, and recently back to work a few weeks ago, I'm finding the tiniest things are mountains for me. I've been so focused on myself, healing, adjusting, and now when I come into workplace drama and blatant lies, I'm utterly overwhelmed. Sick to my stomach, unable to eat, no energy of course, lack of concentration, and completely consumed! This is Not the old me, and I'm lost. Is this part of all the chemical adjustments? Is this because I'm still healing and my body is us…

Hi all.. I am about 6/7 weeks out been on normal foods since week 4+ as was aproved by my surgeon when I saw him. I thought it would be nice to share my experience as pre sleeve I would research what it would be like after ovcourse its different for all. So I am on holiday at the moment. We were looking for a restaurant not all you can eat as I had it down ordering in a restaurant, but the tai driver mis understood and took us to an all you can eat buffet were you can not order food of the menu. My mum was worried and said we should go somewere else as I wont eat much here and she thought it was not fair for me to just watch everyone eating…

Hello everyone! I wanted to check in with some of you veterans that have had VSG and ask for your help with food suggestions during the 6 week post-op phase. I am currently 3 weeks out form surgery and am following the diet recommendations from my doctor but there is no mention of any scrambled eggs in the first 6 weeks. Scrambled eggs have always been one of my protein staples that I tolerate very well. I really don't enjoy the sweet taste of most of the protein shakes and want to get on to eating "real" food sources for protein as soon as possible. Do any of you have suggestions for good protein sources that come from real food that can be eaten between…

Hello friends! I am 5 days post op from my vsg surgery and for the most part I'm feeling pretty good. I'm rarely hungry and do my best to get fluids in through sugar free drinks, popsicles and broths. But I've been struggling with gas pains. It happens throughout the day and the only way to relieve is it to try and burp. I was wondering how long this will last? Every day has gotten better but it's still getting to be annoying and uncomfortable. Accompanying the gas pain, I have a brief minute-long moment where the air gets stuck and I feel extremely nauseous. My mouth fills with saliva as if I'm going to throw up and then never actually do. This has happened once every mo…
