  1. I don't know what this is?

  2. Started by innerme,

I had my sleeve done a week ago monday and still recuperating. I don't seem to have any problems getting my liquids down like I have heard so many express having problems with. I spend probably 30-45 minutes taking in my shakes which is about 6-8 oz. 2-3 x's a day plus my broth and sip on my crystal light all day and take in about 54 oz's thru out the day. I've heard so many people talk about how hard it was to get their liquids down and getting their protein in which has definantly not been a problem for me with the shakes I take. I don't know what is too much or if I am doing any harm to my new stomach. Will it be different once I start eating foods, will I get the f…

My problem I'm having is my blood pressure and my sugars are starting to creep up...I talked to my pcp about it and he want me back on the meds..I've been taking low doses of insulin and the bp meds but the bp meds make me super dizzy...I cut it in half and still dizzy...I'm barely eating so I don't understand why my sugars would be creeping up...anyone able to shed some light?

So i was sleeved September 1, and the first two days were rough.. But im I'm better now. I feel hungry honestly, but I'm still doing liquids and i will not risk not following the doctors orders. The only difficult part is this little tube in me for drainage. Today the pain of it hurts. It's been in for 6 days. It will be removed Friday, but today it just felt like it was trying to come out, but possibly stuck in something when im in a sitting position. If it doesn't feel better tomorrow I will definitely call my doctor. Has anyone else had a problem with drainage? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J320A using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi, I had my surgery May 30th and I had been doing great. I eat around 85 grams of protein a day and I jog 3 miles a day. I've hit a stall these past two weeks and I am feeling discouraged. Has anyone hit a 3 month stall? Is this normal? If anyone has any advice i'd greatly appreciate it.

I know a lot of us (myself included) get fascinated with the scale stats - This is my weekly loss (currently in week 15). I made this spreadsheet to track % of excess weight lost based on a target weight of 175 (which may need to be adjusted - that is a slightly overweight BMI). I started with a BMI of 50, size 24w clothing, pre-diabetic, age 50, no other co-morbidities. I was relatively active (given my weight) and have been able to significantly increase my activity level. I am on the high end of the curve in terms of weight loss, but I wanted to post this to hopefully disrupt the illusion of 10 lb/week weight loss. I didn't track my 10 day pre-op diet…

I went to the doctor today and I can start puréed foods on Thursday because that will be exactly 2 weeks. He said I can not have chicken, tuna, or egg salad or even scrambled until two weeks after puréed. I want some other ideas of what to eat. I was looking forward to those things but I guess he knows best and another two weeks won't kill me. Anyone have other ideas?

I really tested the waters

Does anyone else have issues with temperature after surgery? I've lost 106lbs, current weight 118lbs, 5'2". My surgery date was Dec 27th, 2016. For the past 6 months I've constantly been cold while other people give me strange looks because they are warm or even hot. I'm not sure if it's surgery related or if I'm missing some type of nutrient. Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app

  21. I'm 20 days post op. Prior to surgery, I took One a Day gummies every day. My surgeon only recommends bariatric vitamins so I spent $60 on multivitamins, calcium, and biotin. I ordered Celebrate brand and cannot keep the multivitamin down. It doesn't matter if I take them AM, PM, stomach empty or full, they make me vomit. I read that for those who are made sick by these vitamins, Bariatric Advantage is the same. Out of desperation, I bought Flintstone vitamins and had the same reaction (TBH Flintstones taste exactly the same as Celebrate) but thankfully didn't get as sick, probably because Flintstones are much smaller. I took the samples I had of Celebrate from my su…

  23. Hello everybody! I was sleeved August 16th. I haven't been in pain or anything, I am not hungry but I want to chew!!!! I still have one more week until full liquids (pudding, yogurt cream of chicken etc). I think I am kind of regretting the surgery, it's going to be about 7 weeks before I can start regular foods so I'm not sure if I regret the surgery or I feel like this because I've been on a liquid diet for almost a month now and I miss chewing food? Has this happen to anybody here? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? Please no negative comments Thank you very much!

  24. Hello all, new here. I was banded in 2015. My band was recently too tight after a full which left me unable to drink fluid. Had fluid removed and all going since then. Able to eat as normal as any band patient. during the weekend I experienced a major espisode when some food got stuck. I was vomiting a lot to remove it. Since then I can feel a lump or air stuck in the bottom of my throat. It's only slightly painful but mainly uncomfortable and I need to burp a lot. Does anyone have any ideas how I can relieve this pain? Or what it could be? thanks in advance

I am a little over 3 weeks post-op, and can only eat about 4 ounces of food per sitting. Let me just say that I am not complaining. I am merely curious, so I thought that I would ask. How much can you eat in a sitting? It seems that 1/2 cup of food each meal would make it hard for me to actually eat a full meal short of soups/stews. I thawed out some beef stew leftovers that I made a few weeks ago. I served my wife and 13 year old a small bowl. I then put a small coffee cup on the scale, and set it to start weighing. I added in a few tablespoons of stew (minus the beef). I was at 4oz rather quickly. I then showed my daughter, which had a good laugh. After…

I have been reading a lot of posts and hear people talking about not peeing much. If this is you you must increase your water intake, back to the basics of 1oz every 15 min. You are most likely dehydrated, this could land you back in the hospital or worse in renal failure. Please take care of yourselves. [emoji4] Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Hey everyone I'm 6 days postop and was given the green light from my surgeon yesterday to start drinking protein shakes..in my case is the premier protein 30g of protien bottles. I have started to feel just a little bit better strength wise from drinking the small amounts of the shake BUT I get really nasty heartburn from them. I don't know what to do. I thought the heartburn was from the chicken broth I had yesterday but when I drank some of the shake today it gave me heartburn immediately. I've never heard of anyone getting heartburn from Protien shakes. Please HELP! any insight will be appreciated. Ps. I never had heartburn prior to surgery only when I was pregnant...…

I have read about several people saying their tastes change post-op. Has anyone experienced it happening at 3 months post? I used Premier Protein shakes pre & post with no issue. At 6 weeks I stopped shakes when I transitioned to normal food. However the last several weeks I have been low on protein (60g from food instead of recommended 80g), so I've tried adding back a shake to meet my targets. At 10 weeks, the shakes seem to taste different - vanilla tastes like chemicals and the chocolate was chalky. I have some other powders that I'll try, just curious because I assumed if tastes were going to change it would have been sooner.

  36. I am almost 4 months post-op Gastric Sleeve and during last month I noticed a small amount of facial hair developing on the left side of my chin. This month, it is very obvious and the hairs are growing on top of what now appears to be a rash. The rash is red, itchy, it burns and is spreading to the right side of my chin. I use Nair with Almond Oil for facial hair and it will remove the hair but it grows back within the beginning of the next week. I remember using Biotin before my surgery and I did grow upper lip facial hair so I believe that the Biotin is causing this unwanted facial hair growth and possibly the rash as well but I'm not sure. I am so tired all the time I have been trying to make myself get up get dressed and do the grocery shopping house chores it's just so hard. I leave the house for two hours get home and sleep three hours. Not sure if it's the pneumonia that has me so tired or the surgery ? For your 1 week post op diet, are you supposed to have protein? im scheduled for 9/25. The 1 week post op per my dr is clear liquids and protein.... looking at you tube videos, several dietitians and fellow sleevers talk about purely clear liquids - WITHOUT protein. 44. Hi all! I feel really dumb. I consider myself to be pretty tech savvy but cannot for the life of me connect any food trackers to my fitbit. I tried baritastic, sparkpeople, and Myfitnesspal. I did find the setting to connect on sparkpeople, but it still won't populate on the fitbit app. Frustrating. To be honest, I only like tracking my food on Baritastic. I already have a bunch of recipes saved there, and find that it's the least time consuming of the 3. So if it integrates with the fitbit, that'd be my number 1 choice. I should say, I have a fitbit blaze. Any tips would be helpful! Thank you!

  48. One of the factors pushing me to finally get the sleeve this last July was my high blood pressure. I got a cuff at doc's orders last March and started taking my BP twice a day. It was always very high, never normal, sometimes lower but within the too high range. Some days it was scary high. I really couldn't correlate it with stress. When I started the pre op diet in early July, BOOM. Blood pressure dropped down to normal. Then I had the surgery, and after a week, started taking BP again, and it was normal still. After 4 weeks, it started creeping back up. Now I'm getting high readings again! What does it correlate with!? What made it go down?? If it was …

I tried to search for a similar topic with no avail. I had my VGS on the 8/29 so I am only a few days post op. I had a really rough first 48 hours post op. I was throwing up only blood to the point that they halted any fluid intake other than IV. It was very painful and it took them a couple days to find the right pain/anti-nausea combination. Now that I am home, I'm having severe back pain (worse than the incisions) and my fever has peaked over 101.0. My release information states to call Dr if a fever increases above 100.5. I know my body is trying to recover from a lot of trauma and that could be the reason for the fever. Has anyone else experienced this?? Fever, bac…
