Purely asking out of curiousity, but how many people had their Gastric Bypass done with the Da Vinci robot ? And did you care about having it done robtically, or did that make no difference to you as a patient ?

So i am five days out, experienced the dumping syndrome from banana protein smoothie so i know not to do that again. I am taking all of my vitamins properly and all associated medications. Protonix, Liquid Children's Tylenol and Dilaudid. I am quitting my pain pills as of writing this due to strange vivid nearly prophetic dreams involving Mars One mission in 2033 involving an alien bioweapon in the soil killing off the colonists. I don't really need sex right now and women don't really seem to notice me due to my off putting size and lack of fashion choices, but I'm used to being ready to go in the morning so to speak. I also have the entire left upper butt chee…

I had my sleeve on July 18th, 2017. I am 9 weeks post op. My highest weight was 222, surgery weight day I weighed in at 210 and I am 190.8. I have been following the diet to a T. My sister who had the sleeve surgery done a few years ago eats cheetos, drinks soda and ate crap food and the weight just FELL off. She started at 225 and is now at 143. For me, yesterday I had a protein shake, two quest bars and a few bites of chicken salad. In total about 750-800 calories. My doctor told me to stay between 800 and 1000 calories but the weight is sloooooooooow to come off. I have read others that are eating between 300-400 calories a day and it's working but my doctor says…

When did you start REALLY exercising? I've been walking and such (sometimes multiple times a day) but I just bought a rower and want to start! My doctor said 4-6 weeks was okay as I was healing well and I'm at this mark. However, I still feel a bit of pulling on the main incision after being on my feet for hours (I'm a college professor and on my feet all day). Just looking to see when people started a more intense exercise routine. I want to start toning up! BTW, had my surgery (sleeve) August 8th. Thanks, everyone!

Hey everyone, I'm still only in week three, but I like to feel prepared for things that could come my way. I've heard about the ever-dreaded stalls that people hit, and am trying to mentally prepare for them. Nearly every bariatric-centered article I've read on how to break a stall gives the same advice, exercise more, drink more water, check your diet to see if you're "cheating" too much, etc. However, based on what I know about traditional weight loss lore, very few of these articles recommend trying to eat MORE calories to try to break the stall (the science being that your body may think it's starving and might be using other methods to cope with it, rather than burni…

Hi again, my deal will be outpatient. I go in one week from today at 5am then I go home sometime towards the end of day. I am curious what pain meds were you given while at the facility? Where they via an IV? I'm having a hiatal hernia surgery at same time and I'm not very tough. I'm worried about them controlling the pain?!

Since surgery, my breath has been kicking. My fiance can smell my breath from 5 feet away lol and I constantly have a strong taste in my mouth, like I just drank a protein shake! My morning breath is out of this world. It's making me self conscious! Anyone else have this issue or a solution? Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

/Hi! I had gastric bypass on 9/11, it was a revision from a sleeve, combined with a myotomy for an esophageal issue, and a hiatal hernia repair. I was discharged from the hospital with a drain, which I've been emptying regularly. The output from the drain has been fairly steady, about 10-30 ccs every few hours. More output with more activitiy. I was only told to monitor for changes in color and odor, told that it should get lighter as time goes on. As of today, the color has remained the same, there is no odor. It doesn't seem to be getting lighter in color as they said it would, and the output has been steady (not slowing down, not increasing). I…

I had my gastric bypass almost 5 weeks ago. I have seen my NUT and surgeon and they both said my weight loss is good (30) pounds. My problem is that I haven't lost any weight for almost two weeks. I have even varied between UP a pound and my stall weight. I suppose I'm just flabbergasted that not only am I not losing anymore, but that sometimes the number on the scale is higher. I always weigh at the same time every morning. I have type 2 diabetes and my blood sugars have been great, very few spikes and working on tapering down on insulin. My average macros for a day are less than 800 calories per day. 80-90g protein. 25-30g fat and 20-30g of carbs. At my…

3 months out. I've had a couple glimpses into my old life, and I miss it. I'm happy with my loss (about50 lbs), but I've been in a couple situations where I couldn't eat (like my old normal) or drink alcohol. For the most part I don't miss it, but part of me does and I feel sad. Sometimes mad, that I can't be like everyone else. Then I feel like I am just jealous that I can't eat and drink like a piggy without showing the entire world how fat and lazy I am. I've lost 50+ lbs. I've done some kind of exercise every day. But I still feel like the above.

Hi - I'm wondering if the use of essential oils is okay after bypass surgery? I love lemon oil in my water and hope that I can continue using it and others. Anyone have experience with this and whether or not your docs have been okay with it? I use them a lot, for sore throats, upset stomach, etc. Mostly topically but I safely use some of them internally. (I use DoTerra). Any thoughts, ideas, articles, etc would be appreciated. Thanks!

So everything going well after my surgery, I'm one week out have my checkup tomorrow. Learned that I "don't do well" on opiates so the pain relief was the worst aspect of the experience, but I was switched to paracetamol and haven't needed to take any anyway since I got home. But the pain between neck and shoulder is really painful and although I've read a bit about it on other forums I just had to put the question out there. What is up with this pain?? Is it referred pain or to do with bedrest or to do with intubation during surgery. I've applied heat to it but it just seems to get worse and worse. I'm about to down two paracetamol. Would love to hear what others k…

I snuck a Tupperware container of raspberries and strawberries into the movies this weekend. It was greatness! I usually take string cheese or a bag of protes chips or maybe nuts. Its good to have a snack during the movies. I have to be careful with the whole eating and drinking at the same time. My stomach usually tells me " no no no". I also order a glass of water and spike it with unsweetened coolaid or crystal light. What have you snuck into the movies?

Hi all, This is my first post. My surgery was 9 days ago, and I've been going well. Last 3 or so days I've struggled with food. I've tried 2 yoghurts - Greek and Yoplait - even custards and Milo shake and banana smoothies... I haven't thrown up, but it's like I get 2 mouthfuls in and instant queasy. I'm not drinking with meals till about 30mins after. Same with creamy chicken soups now... Thinking it's a lactose thing, but anyone had this? I don't know what else to eat now. I see my DT on Tuesday so I'll check with her, but I'm afraid of being told I'm not getting enough protein or good nutrients. Any words of advice? Thank you ☺

Hello All. So comforting to hear others experiences, so I thought I'd add mine. My surgery was on 8/21 and I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 days. My pain was actually well managed and my providers were aggressive about controlling post-op nausea. I won't lie, my first week was rough but not unmanageable and certainly in retrospect nothing that has made me regret doing this. One week of discomfort, mostly made manageable by meds is certainly worth a lifetime of potentially improved health. So if you are having pre-op doubts, don't let them overtake your decision. I confess to having many pre-op questions and can remember that "what the hell I am doing" thoughts right u…

Today is the one-month anniversary of my surgery and while everything has progressed as expected, it has been a tough month of change and adjustment. However, to highlight how far I've come, here are the things I can now do: -Take my morning meds in less than 10 mins -Sleep in any position -Be up and about all day -Fit into many clothes 2 sizes smaller than I started -Eat more solid proteins -Sleep without acid reflux -Donate many of my clothes that were like-new but now too-big to a relief drive for Hurricane Harvey survivors. These are all very good things, and I have to just keep paying attention to the very good things!

I am post po 6 days. Had a 4 day hospital stay with a little blood pressure complication. I had a Nissen Fundo take down, hernia repair and sleeve. So that's my history. So WTH? I stepped on scale and was up 13 pounds I've started loading approx 2 pds a day but I'm not even where I was the day I had surgery! Why? I'm now on post op liquid diet consisting of protein shakes, water limited juice. Thank you in advance for your opinions and/or suggestions Sent from my SM-S765C using BariatricPal mobile app

Again I'm only 3 days post op but pain and soreness is all over feels like. Mostly in my next and shoulders I can't sleep very well at all. My husband thinks I'm over exaggerating but really it's horrible. My incisions burn like hell. It hurts when I swallow anything at all. I've been walking every hour or so to move all the gas around it's definitely gotten better since I came home Thursday but I feel like my c-section 9 months ago was a little easier than this! Taking the hydrocodone that was given as needed but that just makes me sleepy and doesn't really help. I'm having a lot of regrets about the surgery in general. Is this normal? At this point I'm giving my husband…

Have you had even a sip of something carbonated? I've heard both and I know you aren't "supposed" to but there's a lot you're not "supposed" to do but I hear of people doing it. I simply want to know if you have & did you regret it?
