I'm going to be starting the pureed stage on Monday, and I came across a great-sounding (supposedly famous) recipe for a Ricotta bake: - 8 oz of ricotta - 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan - 1 large egg - a bit of garlic powder and Italian seasoning - 1/2 cup marinara sauce - 1/2 cup mozzarella Mix ricotta, parm, egg and seasonings, put in an oven dish, pour marinara on top, and top with the mozzarella. Bake at 450 for 20-25 minutes, My question is has anyone tried adding finely ground beef to this to increase the protein content? I was thinking I could even blend it with the marinara sauce. If you have, how much did you…

Hi all, I'm only 17 days out. I'm having difficulty getting protein in because I CANNOT deal with protein shakes. I hate all of them. They are too sweet for me. The only thing I can manage is biPro protein water (20g protein) in lemon flavor bc it's sour. But I know I'll get tired of it quickly. I don't like the "unflavored" protein bc to me it's not unflavored. It changes the taste of what I put it in, and then I don't want it. I'm trying to eat my protein, but there's no way I can eat enough at this point when I can only eat 3-4 Tbsp of any food. Also, I feel like I can eat too much at this point. Eventually I get full, but I thought I would only be able to ea…

I am 1 week out from my VSG. Today is the first day that I've been able to eat anything that isn't a clear liquid. Per my post-op diet instructions, week 2 I can have yogurt without fruit chunks, creamy soups without chunks, full liquid and etc. I thought it would be a good idea to start with a low calorie, high protein greek yogurt. After not eating for all this time it was amazing!! My concern is that I was able to eat the whole single serving cup. I ate slow and took small bites as instructed. I don't feel nauseated or overly full. I'm satisfied but I just didn't think I would be able to tolerate so much at once. I know it's very easy to over do it and I've heard that …

Has anyone tried shirataki noodles or miracle noodles. I also heard of miracle rice or Love my rice I was wondering if that was any good. Trying to find alternatives and recipes. People are raving about it but I used to love pasta and rice so would like to see if this really would be a great alternative.

I had my vsg on 10/20 and was released 10/22. Gas pains are still very real and painful! I've walked, drank, used gas-x strips, passed gas...any other suggestions? I'm hoping to sleep through the night without being woken up from gas. Also, how long did your incision pain last? I would love to get off the pain mess, but don't think I'm quite there yet.

Hi guys! I'm new here. IIIII NEEEED HELLLLP. I'm 4 days out of surgery and the head hunger is REAL. I've only been eating chicken broth, protein shakes watered down, popsicles, and propel. I have 9 days to go and I'm honestly not as strong as most of you lol. Can you guys help me come up with some creative full liquid ideas? This is what's already on my list: broth, sf gelatin, sf non carbonated beverages, sf popsicles, protein shakes, chewable multivitamins, skim or soy mixed with protein powder, fat free cream soups. And apparently even though it's on the list, I can't have yogurt yet. I guess I need fat free cream soup ideas? Where do you even find that?! I'm dying. S…

Hey guys, i had had my surgery on Monday and everything seemed to go pretty well. I didn't have much pain but I had horrible nausea. the nausea subsided after about Day 2 and I was released. everythings been pretty okay, I've been walking, holding down liquids and some purree food. I've had several small liquids bowel movements and I do burp and fart. The only problem is that I keep getting these horrible gas pains. it seems like every so often my stomach inflates to a very painful degree, then after a few seconds it gurgles and the pain subsides. sometimes this happens a few times in a row. It doesn't seem to be conne…

I'm 4 days post op and sitting here crying as I write this. I'm doing this all alone, no one knows I've done this, not even my immediate family. They all live out of town or in different states. All they know is that I had the hiatal hernia repair. I have struggled with my weight since I was a kid. I had thought about doing this surgery for years, but didn't want the negative feedback from people (including family) who don't understand, plus I was kind of scared to do it. But I finally decided to do it and now have fears that something will go wrong. I was also starting to have medical issues and lots of knee pain making it very difficult to get around, which was my fin…

Good evening! (At least it is in my neck of the woods!) It's been a while since I posted on here. I am almost nine months out, down 168lbs total. A couple weeks ago I had a follow up appointment with my surgeon, who was VERY pleased with my progress. YAY! He told me that the people who tend to struggle or put weight back on later are those that don't spend time learning about food. He told me that I basically need to become an "amateur nutritionist" and read as much as I can. So here's my question-- Anyone have any nutrition books or websites that have helped them??

Good day, so glad I found this forum. This is a great tool. I have a question. I started stage 2, slowly getting to eat more solids, but during this transition since it is not totally liquid should i wait the suggested 1 hour after having my meal before i drink water?

I'm 2 weeks post surgery, and I'm concerned because it seems like my stomach is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. I normal meal for me is about 1.5 cups of pureed food. This is 12 fluid ounces. It was my understanding that after the surgery my stomach would be 4-6 ounces. So having a stomach twice as large as I expected is very concerning to me. What does a normal meal look like for the rest of you? How much were you eating when you were 2 weeks post op? I'm seriously tempted to drink a bunch of water real fast until I barf, just so I can get an accurate measure of how big my new stomach really is.

So I'm currently 2 weeks post-op. For my surgeon, this is the mushy/soft/pureed stage (yup, altogether). At this point, it's suggested meals are 1/2 cup or 4 oz of food. And the plan is to have one Protein shake in the morning, 2 of the half cups meals and another Protein Shake sometimes throughout the day. Where the heck do I fit all this? I can never ever eat a full half cup of food and just now I ate 2.5oz of salmon and while my stomach tolerated it very well (no upset at all), I overestimated capacity and that was just too much food. So, two questions - how can I possibly manage to get in my protein goals if I can only get down 20g in food and another 25g in a s…

I am 3 weeks out and I was put on a reflux medicine after 1 week post op. I was wondering if anyone has experienced reflux in the early months of getting sleeved and it went away after a few months? My reflux isn't bad but I know it's there. I often feel like I have something stuck in my throat and I attempt to burp to get it out but doesn't work [emoji17] i was just wanting to know if anyone else has experienced this and it resolved itself.

Hellooo! I'm currently 13 months post op. This past year has been filled with hospital visits and 7 times under anesthesia...it's been rough. But, I've lost over 200 pounds. Yes, that's right! I started at 450...as of today I'm at 243. I still want to lose some more weight, but I know it'll take some hard work. Anyways! Needless to say, I have a LOT of excess skin on my arms, stomach, thighs, and back [emoji17]. As of the last few weeks I've been getting these awful painful rashes on my thighs and under my excess skin on my stomach. It makes it so hard to move. I've been putting on baby powder to try to keep it dry, but I want to know if there's anything else I could use…

Hi everyone I did my surgery roughly a year ago I was at 128kgs, I'm now down to 55kgs. I currently and have been eating very well over the past 6 months but I'm still not regaining weight. I'm wayyyy to skinny now and am at regrets doing this surgery . I feel normal and fit but I'm down to stick size. I rapidly lost weight after surgery as I ended up being hospitalized for roughly 2 months after surgery due to complications. My drs said I've returned to my natural body weight but I can't stand it.

I am almost a month post op. When does everything go back to normal? Normal meaning when will I be free to eat regular food? When will my stomach finally completely heal? This might be confusing, but I guess I'm saying, when will I feel like myself again? When will I be able to go out to eat with friends and hang out without me feeling terrible? Stomach aches, nausea? Does it all become easier as time increases? Does my portion size increase? 3-4 bites make me full, as years passes, will 3-4 bites be forever? -Ariannuhh❤️

I was sleeved a month ago, and up until a few days ago I was losing weight pretty well. I had lost 25 pounds ... and then the weight loss just stopped. I have been stalled at this weight. I don't know if it's because I have been moved to mechanical solids (small bites, but real food) from the puree stage, or if it's just a natural thing. Do I have to wait for this to end, or is there a way to kickstart more weight loss?

Good evening, I am posting because my recovery has been a bit odd, I plan on contacting my doctor tomorrow, because I am able to eat soft foods without any issues. My scars have been healing well, I've been active and hungry, today I was able to eat 1/2 cup of cream of wheat, 1/4 cup of yogurt and a cheese stick. I don't know if this is normal, but I technically shouldn't be this advanced until next week. I'm losing weight, but I want to make sure that nothing has gone wrong. Is anyone else experiencing this? Thanks!

So my chest and throat pains are still here and I had my surgery 9/14! When I eat and drink. So now I'm at a point where I have to eat and drink because one Im hungry and thirsty and of coarse I need to be getting things in. The only solid food I've tried is eggs scrambled as my doctor said I could. But even chewing super slow and sipping tiny bits I still have pain. Seen the doctor today he said give it another week and see if it's still happening. Now I'm so used to the pain I'm not sure if it's ok because I deal with it all day and while I'm eating. [emoji30] anyone else experienced this before?? Help!
