Well, my surgery was Monday morning came home on Tuesday having gas pains today but I am much more tired than I was yesterday. Anyone else feeling this way.

  2. Started by HDScarlett,

Hi all. I'm home from the hospital and wanted to send an update. Surgery went great and I was up walking 2 laps of my floor last night. The nurse said she had never seen anyone do as well as me. She said my positive and excited attitude surely helped! My pain never got above 2 or 3 and I needed very little pain meds. I'm off them now and don't even feel the need for Tylenol. Last night 3 ice chips made me nauseated, but today I kept down about 4 oz of liquids. I do have a drain in my abdomen that will not come out until next Thursday (ick) and I have to give myself anti blood clot shots daily for 2 weeks, but they are not as scary as I thought they would be. Now I just ne…

I feel like I'm not where I should be at this point. I had surgery 8/25 and less than one week out, I can drink all of my protein and a lot of water no problem. I wouldn't say they are tiny sips, but I'm not gulping either. I would say large sips (1 Tbsp per sip). I'm also hungry sometimes. Is it possible for me to have stretched the band with water? I'm really tired (probably due to not eating in over a week), but besides that all is fine. My stomach is bloated (I assume all the gas isn't gone?). I just feel like I shouldn't be able to drink this easily and it seems like everyone get nausea, but I have absolutely none (besides immediately after surgery when…

Back again! So my regular diet starts in exact one week. Monday will be 5 weeks after that I'm allowed a regular diet. The problem is I feel like I don't know what to eat. Right now for my soft foods phase I eat a lot of eggs, soft shredded chicken I has the chili mashed potatoes and yeah I basically don't know what to do once I leave this phase. Honestly sometimes I feel like I can eat anything as long as I chew it really well and take small bites and time but I'm honestly confused I'm honestly scared like what do I eat now. I know I have a week well a little over a week but a week can fly fast. Tiffani[emoji1528][emoji757]️[emoji175]

I'm grateful to be home, with my unfiltered internet access, lots to read, the fact that the binder my surgeon's office gave me doesn't say that I must wait to start the puréed stage of the diet (though I will call their office tomorrow to confirm). And the fact that since Sunday, I lost 3,8 kg (or 8,3 lbs)!

So I'm three weeks out. And the one week I didn't work out is the week I haven't lost weight. But I was also under the impression if I exercise too much at the rate of which I eat meals (under 800 calories in a day) , that would stall weight loss as well. So I wanted to compare to those who are probably in a similar situation. About how much exercise should we be getting in at this time

I'm two month post op this week. I had a lot of trouble the first month keeping anything down. I still vomit up about 50% of anything new I try to eat. I can eat crackers, ice cream, chicken salad and some soups without vomiting. An example.. Last night I ate a few bites of grilled fish. That's it.. Probably about 1/2" thick and about 1/4 of the size of a deck of cards or maybe the size of a box of matches. So less than an ounce of fish. It felt like it was sitting a bit below my throat and felt like I need to belch but i can't belch/burp because it felt like my path to burp was blocked. Well it kept it down for about 30 minutes all the while feeling uncomfortable .…

In 4 days, I will be 2 weeks post op with my sleeve. The first week was predictably difficult on my all liquid diet and I struggled to get enough protein and liquids. My surgeon authorized me to move to pureed foods after 7 days and since then, I have been feeling much better. I have been sticking to 3 ounce meals -- about 5 times a day -- and have been eating various pureed items such as butternut squash soup, sweet mashed potatoes, tuna salad, egg salad, hummus, etc. along with at least one protein shake a day. I feel like I have a notable appetite and was somewhat surprised by this since I've read that in the first few months, there is usually little to no appetite and…

Hi, I am about 2 weeks post op. Today I had a little bite of Mac and cheese and fried chicken without the skin. Just a few bites of it. Now I'm having spasms in my stomach. My biggest concern is creating a leak in my pouch. Can I do this? How would I know? Can someone please help me? I'm so scared I'll definitely be doing liquids the rest of the week.

For the past week and this week, my WLS journey has been hard for me. I feel like I'm all alone. I miss eating what I want. I didn't eat a lot of things. I just miss the taste. I'm in the pureed stage now and I don't have a clue what to do. I feel like I'm never gonna get to my goal. I know it's only been 4 weeks post op for me. I'm always thinking of the future. I feel so restricted. Mind you I don't want to give up, I just want to know how did you all handle it? I'm mostly by myself so I don't have a spouse or friends and family that gets it. Most of my friends are overweight too. My family just says follow the plan. For me it's not that easy to follow the plan. Do I re…

Hello all. I'm two weeks post-op and I've just started the pureed stage. I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to get all my protein in now that I'm consuming more real food and fewer protein shakes. The foods I'm supposed to eat -- like pureed chicken and pureed egg salad -- doesn't have nearly as much protein as the shakes do. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do?

I had thought I understood that my surgeon would be setting my weight loss goal at our first post surgical appointment. I would swear the dietician I have been working with said that, that the surgeon would take into account my pre and post op weight loss, my historic weight highs and fluctuations, etc., and that we would come up with a goal together after surgery. But apparently I misunderstood. Talking to my surgeon Wednesday before discharge from the hospital, she said she doesn't do goals and believes firmly in letting my body find its balance. I have about 100 lbs to lose to get to the high end of a healthy BMI for my height, so I asked if once I reached a health…

My Doc want me to only eat 3 meals per day and 1 shake but I feel like I need more food. I have been having 2 snacks they are the portion size I can eat and protein but I thought I wouldn't be hungry. Any suggestions or advice? Please help me. I don't want to stretch my stomach.

I am about 6 weeks out. I'm down about 40lbs. I'm happy with my results so far, but I have constant stomach pain. It's not excruciating, more like a big rock sitting in my stomach. Not just after I eat, all the time. I wake up with it. I don't know if I'm hungry, full, have acid issues or just crazy!! It is worse after I eat. I've tried eating less (stopping way before I am starting to feel full), eating slower, eating different foods, etc, but it's still there. Water is the worst. My doc office says it is normal and go away eventually. I was pretty emotional for a couple of weeks after surgery, but that seemed to level out. I'm getting that way again; so far the o…

I am a little more than two months post-op with two fills under my belt and I can still eat a normal sized portion. I have noticed that the amount of food I can eat has been greatly reduced, but I have yet to experience resistance or eating two bites of food and feeling full. I'm losing weight, but not as much as I thought I would seeing as my surgery was recent. How long did it take all of you to get to a point where you were eating tiny amounts of food or feeling resistance from the band? For the record, I have an 8cc band and am 5.5 cc filled.

I am 2 wks post op and I know things get better but I am so unhappy right now. I can barely drink water. Food cravings are long gone and the hunger pain is gone as well. I feel nauseous with every sip and my acid reflux is kicking my ass. I opted for this surgery to help me lose the weight so my dr. Would replace my ACL and now I just feel like I would've rather been stuck in a brace for life. Please tell me it gets better.

I post this because there was so many other people who just basically poured there hearts out to me privately expressing they feel the same way. I know I can't do much for people but I at least want to be a voice for them. So I say if someone cries out for help just listen. All the positivity that I received really helped me. Can i just blend everything and make it into a thin liquid or is that for the puréed stage? I make a very good chilli, can I blend that? I'm just tired of the sweet protein drinks, I need savory stuff in my life!!!! As always, thank you all for your help!

  25. I am not post op yet, but from my limited time on this board, this issue seems to come up quite a lot. It has me pretty nervous about going forward. Quite simply, putting myself at risk to only gain back the weight in two years, if that makes sense. Can people explain to me what is happening? From what I have read, restriction still exists, food amounts are less, but a significant about a weight returns for a number of people. For my FYI, looking at what to avoid can people share what they were doing to gain the weight back?

Hello everyone! My surgery was August 25. There were no complications and I'm excited to be home. The big challenge for me so far has been burning and stinging on my abdominal skin. Tender to the touch and then it feels like it's on fire. Anyone else experience this? I'm finding getting up and down to be a huge challenge, as well as trying to turn over in bed. I'm always afraid my staples will come popping out of the incisions. I was given oxycodone 5 mg for at home, but during the stay I had gabapentin (neurontin) liquid. This stuff was great. I didn't even know I had nerve pain until my last dose of it wore off, and the oxycodone just does nothing for that pain…

I can tell you the Choice Bariatric Soups are disgusting and have a terrible smell...they also dont mix well and are very clumpy.
