Thank you dearest darlings! I had no pain as such post op. Just sore but meds keeping a lot in check. Thanks for your prayers. I'll keep u posted how I am tomorrow.
Hate that I'm not permitted any water today it's been over 30 hours I haven't had anything ... everything in my mouth is so dry.
Tomorrow they do some test on me to check leaks , then they said I might also require blood transfusion

Yay! You are on your way!!!

Congratulations! Knew you could do it! The worst part is almost over!

No transfusion! Cleared to go home. This was so uneventful and my surgeon is really good! Thanks all your prayers n encouraging words helped.
How slow do I start on fluids?
Did any of you have cough post op ?

We were told to start with 1oz every 15 minutes for the 1st day. Second day, we could use a cup, but to progress slowly .

Cough is from the endo tube down your throat and anesthetic, walk and more walking....

Oh okay! I feel everything's I drink. Is that weird ?

I'm 6 days post-op and I still feel everything I drink. What's even more weird is the when I take medication, I can actually feel it go all the way down my esophagus and then plop into my stomach. At least that's what it feels like. So weird.

I think you have you're answer as far as how slow you start on fluids ( 2oz in 15 minutes) and I did not have to cough but I did have to walk down the hallway quite a bit as well as urinate. I am not sure if you had a hospital stay but I had to be at the hospital at 10 and by 1230 I was being wheeled down the hallway to surgery, at 1630 I was in X-ray getting my swallow test and I was discharged from the hospital by 1730. I will say that I did appreciate this faster method that way I didn't have to wait 24 hours before actually drinking something.
