Almost 4 months post op. NUT encourageing me to wean off my acid inhibitor protonics. Wow. Immediately having heartburn like no bodies business. Like water is giving me heartburn. Folk that are at least 4 month out. How long did it take until your heartburn was not so bad? Ever? Do you still take a acid inhibitor? Do you just deal with it with a tums? Chronic heartburn can lead to other issues.

I'm bearing my soul and body here. I couldn't be more proud of how my body has changed. I've lost exactly 70 pounds since my surgery. Today marks exactly 24 weeks ( 6 months ) since my VSG surgery. There's good, bad and ugly about VSG. A lot of days, I cried and wondered why in the hell I had this surgery, and what in the hell ive done to myself. Throughout this process, I haven't been able to REALLY see the changes. In my mind, I always see a 268 pound fat girl. Granted, I have seen the changes, seen the smaller clothes sizes, but still struggled with my self image in my head. But today that all changed.... I realized today as I was getting dressed that I had on the sa…

When I initially set up BariatricPal, I was given the opportunity to add a weight ticker to my signature. After being on this board for a while, I realize that there are different kinds. How do I go back and add more tickers? I am using the website, not the app. I've searched for help with tickers, and some people say you have to go to an outside website and copy over the code??? It was an option when creating the profiles. Other people are saying click on the circle of your photo and a drop down appears saying tickers - haven't seen that yet. Others say go to "my signatures" and the ticker button is there. The only thing in the signature block for m…

I helped a friend pick up a small dresser off the back of her truck last night and put it on a Dollie. Afterward, especially after I got home I was having a lot of pain around my main incision site. I'm so afraid I pulled something or maybe got a hernia at the incision site. The dresser didn't feel that heavy, but I still probably shouldn't have picked it up. It is still somewhat sore. Hasn't anyone else experienced something like this?

Hey all, So today I had a small scary episode I'm two weeks in on my surgery, on Friday I was told to start puree foods, as every morning I wake up and have my protein shake, and sip water throughout the day at about 12pm I had some pureed Calabasas (pumpkin) lightly season with sea salt and a hint of cayanne pepper. I waited about 1 hour an half so I can't take omeprazol, once I had it Lord I thought I was going to die, I got light headed, chills and stomach cramps, as if I need to use the bathroom but nothing! Two minutes later I start gagging and I was throwing up an acid sour throw up ( my guess the pill) I guess the force of having throw up I felt all my stomach muscl…

Hello All, Its been a while since I posted because I have been recovering from my RNY on 9/11. I am still having a lot of pain three weeks out. I read that some people don't get pain at all. Anybody still have pain and if so how are you handling it? Thanks, Zallykatz16

I am going to be sleeved on Monday the 25th- awaiting my phone call for my surgery time. i have been so in the LOSE zone, that I got to thinking, they never talked about how to stop once you reach goal. Granted that this is not anytime soon, but people have been asking and I never really thought about it. Do you eat high calorie food? Eat more frequently? Exercise less - just kidding ...but what do you do to stop losing the weight once you are at goal?

It's been almost one year from my surgery, and I am down a total of 157 pounds. However I am still having issues after I eat, no matter what I put in my body I have a stomach ache almost instantly and spend the next 30 minutes on the commode or nauseated. I was told it was my gallbladder that we give me some of these problems and I am scheduled to have that out Tuesday, however I'm wondering if anybody still has problems this floor out with digestion. Will the gallbladder help once it's removed.

What vitamins does everyone take? I know talking to the doctor will be the best for me to find out what I need for my body obviously and I will ask when I see him on December 1st but I'm just curious what everyone else takes I'm sure some will be the same and some will be different, also has anyone taken the Chewable or soft chews multivitamins from the store here? How are they, do you recommend or no?

I'm also on a vitamin B12 spray which is ok and a chewable multi vitamin which also is ok, but the first two...Oh my goodness, I'm starting to find it really hard to have the willingness to take them! I really don't want to slowly stop taking them Because I know they are very IMPORTANT. Did anyone have this issue? Also how long does this liquid vitamin stage go for? sanaa

Hi everyone. I had a gastric sleeve on September 12th 2017. In 9 days I lost 12 lbs and was ecstatic. Since my weigh in at the dr on 9.21.17 i have not lost 1lb! I am the exact same weight. I was put on soft foods on 9.22 and have been eating yogurt, eggs, chicken. Trying my hardest to get all my fluids, but averaging about 40 oz of fluid a day. Has anyone else experienced weight loss Plateau this close to the surgery date? It seems awfully soon to not be losing weight. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Thank you. Okay this might be a stupid question, but I am confused about the portion sizes when you finally are able to eat solids again. First of all what size portion did ur doctors tell you to eat whenever u have a meal? 4oz? That's what I was told . Does this mean every time u have a meal you should measure 4oz in weight or 4oz in volume (1/2 cup)?? So confused !! Someone help

I am 9 months post op, and down 72.5 lbs. My weight loss has slowed down quite a bit to the point where I am only losing about 5 lbs per months now. I still have 30 lbs to go to get to my goal weight, but slow and steady has proven to be good for me. I am finding that I don’t really have any loose skin. I think that is for several reasons. First, I have been losing at a slow and steady pace. Also, I work out every morning before work. This includes cardio and weight training. Finally, I started making my own body butters right after my surgery to specifically target loose skin and stretch marks. I slather it on every day. The pictures I am attaching show me prior to my su…

My surgery date is 10/2 and I'm trying to get a head start on the grocery list. My husband is a trucker and will be doing some shopping for me before he goes back out on the road so that I won't have to shop for several weeks. I know what I'm doing in the first stage but have no idea what I'll be eating in the pureed stage. Tell me what I should put on my grocery list. Thanks in advance.

I'm scared. I'm pretty sure I was beat with a baseball bat for hours. This pain is the worst I've ever felt. I am scared to ask but when will it subside? I got 20 Vicodin and that's all they gave. I got nothing yesterday in recovery even. I'm really scared that I made a huge mistake. I'm really scared this pain will last for weeks. I'm just scared of a lot right now. I've been hateful to my mom who is here helping I'm not myself and I know it's normal but I'm scared of this pain!!

Hey All, Just looking for some support and thoughts. I had my VSG surgery 6/27/17, so just about 3 months ago. I had a really rough recovery the first month but the hardship has faded and I'm over 55 pounds down now. I've been a serial long-term dater since I was 16 without ever really having a break - going from a 1.5 year relationship, to 3 years relationship, to 6 year relationship, to 3 year relationship. The last relationship, we've known for a long time we didn't work with our ideals and different motivations but have stuck together much longer than we should have basically due to comfort of going home to somebody and fear, then to help me get through sur…

Anyone else experience having the "runs" and it going through the front? I'm scared. I called the surgeon and he said it has nothing to do with the surgery. But, I never had this before prior to surgery. My first time dealing with this was last Friday. Surgeon told me to drink more water that night and it should clear up. I drank more water and it did go away. I drank skim milk again today and the same thing happened. Still sipping water and hopefully it will clear up. Going to see nurse practitioner tomorrow morning so she can check me out. Smh, what is happening to me? [emoji22] [emoji21] [emoji26] Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm in the middle of my pureed stage, and I found two amazing recipes that have made this my favorite stage so far. Figured I'd share them with everyone. First, if you like spicy: Buffalo Chicken Dip Ingredients 2 (10 ounce) cans chicken breasts 1/2 packages (4 ounce) fat free cream cheese, softened- 1/4 cup frank's redhot original cayenne pepper sauce 1/4 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese 1/8 (2 Tbsp) cup fat free ranch dressing 1/8 (2 Tbsp) cup fat-free Greek yogurt OR Fat Free Sour Cream Directions - Preheat oven to 350 degrees. - Place cream cheese in a medium bowl and stir until smooth. Mix in Frank's RedHot, mozzarella che…

In had gastric bypass 9/5. Surgery weight was 314.5 when I came home from the hospital I was 317.5 and went down to 302 the first 10 days. Problem is I haven't lost since. I know there are stalls but this is frustrating. I am taking in maybe 800 cals a day and don't see how I can stay the same weight for a week eating that few cals. Does this happen to everyone? So for those that had the hiatal hernia repair definitely know what I’m talking about, after surgery when you drank something it would feel like it would get stuck for a second then go down all while being painful. Well I had surgery almost 7 weeks ago and I was doing fine, pretty much no pain at all while eating or drinking but it seems like out of no where I’m starting to have pain again while drinking and eating. I know that I’m not eating/drinking more or taking bigger bites so I’m not sure why the pain would come back. Anybody have a clue?

Hello everyone! I'm new here! Had my RNY on Wednesday morning at 8:20a.m. I'm on my 3rd day post-op and I've had no major issues other than pain. I've not thrown up or anything. I keep Isopure down fine, Water fine, Protein chicken broth OK etc. I was sent home saying two weeks post-op clears but then "shakes" were on the list. Before I was discharged the hospitals bariatric coordinator came in and went over some of the dues and don't with me. She said protein shakes were fine but specially talked about the house brand my doctors office sells AND like the unjury ones they also offer. Again she doesn't specifically work for my bariatric doctors BUT with them. Grand…

Hello all! I am new to this forum. I don't have alot of luck asking questions at my doctor's office so I figured I'd ask here. I am disgusted with my program, to be honest but that's another story. For the past week I have been having pain in my sleeve. It hurts pretty much all day, regardless of what I eat. Sometimes the pain is barely noticeable and sometimes, like right now, it's pretty painful. Feels like there's alot of pressure, like someone is squeezing my sleeve. Today it has been more painful tham usual but I had a bad bout of diarrhea around noon today after drinking some strong coffee. Sometimes it feels like it is spasming. I had my barium swallow x-ray last…

Hi there, feeling FANTASTIC after 12th sept sleeve. I have particular vitamins that I want to take which are powder in capsule, any tips how to take them? I mixed them in cottage cheese one day, wasn't particularly nice. Any tips on how to down them? Maybe just add to my daily protein smoothie? I love pulse-in whey mixed with a raw coconut milk from "rebel kitchen" here in the UK. All advice welcome.
