I do because I was told too not because I understand it. My doctor said that water flows right through the pouch so if there is nothing in there why can't we drink?

I get the concept of not drinking during and after though.

I often fudge on the before, but try to wait an hour on the after. So I'd love an answer to the above question as well if anyone has it. Thanks!

I'm 12 weeks out. I don't worry about the before part. I just give myself a few minutes before I start eating. I feel best if I wait to drink after eating. I didn't wait a couple of times and it made me nauseated. So I try to note the time and wait the 30 after eating.

I also use a straw with no issues.

Does anyone stop drinking 30 minutes before eating and does it really have to be 30 minutes before and after ?

My surgeon said 20 minutes before and after.- 7 weeks out.

At 6 weeks, my NUT says the not drinking before was not as important as after. The 30 minute waiting after eating is a permanent instruction.
