What's up gents. 2 days post op and still in the hospital. I was doing great right after surgery and up until a few hours ag. I've been holding down water and making laps and everything I need to do. I took a 90 minute nap and that has all changed. I have severe pain in my neck and my shoulders and my back, my nurse is telling me that it's the gas pain but I feel like I've already been dealing with the gas pain in my shoulders and that this is directly in my muscles. I'm inclined to believe my boss but i feel like straight crap. My catheter is out and I'm off of IV's because i can sip water well and have been able to pee but i can't help but feel like something is wrong …

Hi. I am 3.5 weeks out, and I have been having alot of problems eating and drinking. I was put on meats, cheese, soft veggies...pretty much anything since day 6. I think it was too early. I have been nauseaus and not wanting food (or drinks) I was taken off shakes (which I can't get down anyway) and yogurt. My question is, i know that we are supposed to eat yogurt with more protein than sugar, but since I'm having so much trouble, would it hurt to eat one that has 13g sugar and 11g protein? Even if just until I can eat better? Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

Got Sleeved this morning. Everything went really well. Had a lot of pain when I got to my room. It has gotten better as the day progresses it has become less and less. Walked 20 minutes after I got to room and now have done 6 1/2 laps and about to call it a night. Pain meds have been helpful. The swabs they have me to moisten my mouth have been very helpful. Got up by myself about an hour ago so pain and flexibility are much better. Tomorrow is the leak test and then I have to hold down 8oz of water and once those are done I am headed home!

I was sleeved 6/30 and return to work on 7/26. I work as a parking cashier at a stadium in Miami. So already y'all can imagine that heat mixed with such high humidity. Standing on asphalt with the sun beating down, asphalt returning that heat back up, and car exhaust making it that much worse. Many employees throughout the season drop like flies do to the heat without being sleeved. I'm worried about how to safely work without getting dehydrated. Thankfully it's events only so I won't be there every day. But anyone have warnings or tips for me? Obviously keep a water bottle with me and sip sip sip and make sure I eat every two or at least three hours. Can you begin drinki…

ok I am still pre-op and on my 2 wk liquids so i am just sitting and dreaming about food that i can't have. (of course, i'm having a Protein shake and not really hungry, just my brain working). I am very ready for this, it has been 3 years in the planning. However, one of my very favorite things is a simple Mcdonald's cheeseburger and small fry. I know what it's made of, i know all the media coverage of lipids, liver enzymes, etc...BUT, i still like it every now and then. Considering that my taste buds may change and i may never want it again, i'm also wondering who still indulges in McD's post-op? if i WANT to, will i eventually be able to account for it and enjoy…

I'm very concerned. I am 3 months and 4 days post-op. I had the sleeve. I feel great! My surgery weight was 244 and tiday it's 187! I have dropped 3 clothing sizes! But my concern....I DO NOT TAKE IN ENOUGH CALORIES AND PROTEIN!!! Arghhh! I try ti eat. I push ti eat. I weigh out my portions. But i get 2 or 3 bus in and I'm done. I still can't tolerate some smells and some tastes of foods. I can't tolerate meats (this includes beef, chicken, and turkey). The highest amount of calories I have consumed a day has been 500, protein maybe 50. I'm losing weight fast but now I can actually feel my bones like when I sit out lay down. Any suggestions? Or am I being paranoid?? Sent…

So I'm just 8 days post RNY. started eating soft solids yesterday. I'm finding it hard to space meals and stop drinking 30 minutes before. For example, I meant to eat a meal at a certain time and forgot to stop drinking 30 min. before, so I had to push back mealtime. Then today, my husband is grilling and I anticipated it to be ready at 5:30 but now not ready until 6:00. I'm sure it will get easier, but any tips?

Hi everyone, My surgery was June 27. Feeling pretty good but very head hungry. I'm still on liquids and doing okay except that I can't get all the protein in. My water intake is going strong. I do have a question for you all. After the initial 4 weeks, when can I eat salads and peanuts? I'm craving peanuts and salad seem to be a quick option when on the run. Any New Mexicans out there? Our chile is very different from what some are used to and green chile season is just around the corner. Will this be okay for me to eat?

I need suggestions and help. I'm a month and a week post op. I also work 2 jobs so I'm out of the house from 8am til about 10:30 pm. I've been packing food for the day, which isn't much obviously, but I need more options. What are your easy to grab and go foods? I've been doing chicken and Tina salad and sodium free coldcuts and things of that nature but I'm getting bored. The other part of this is, foods that I normally really enjoy are starting to turn my stomach. I'm not sure if it's the food or it's actually me. It's happened the last few days. I thought I was hungry (it had been a couple hours between meals so it wasn't head hunger) and then when I went to eat I f…

I'm on the purée diet. I am curious as to what a day should look like. I am paranoid of stretching out my stomach and this not working. But I am having a hard time knowing what is good to eat. There's not a lot of puréed stuff that I feel like are good calories. I will eat some mashed potatoes but I feel like those are kind of a waste and don't keep me satisfied long. Can someone give me an example of what my day should look like regarding eating? Also, any good exercises I should be doing, or should I just be intentional about walking? I'm supposed to be doing 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week.

Hello to everyone (pre/post, band/vsg/rny)! Had my sleeve done in Philadelphia on March 2, 2017. It was done at Temple University Hospital by Dr. Michael Edwards. I've been fortunate enough not to have experienced any problems/complications. It is now 4 months & 4 days after my surgery; I'm happy to say I'm down 50 pounds! I began this journey back in June 2016 and weighed 220 pounds.....today I weigh 170.0 pounds!!! YEA ME!!! Did any of y'all get these weird little spasms after surgery it's only 6 days post op for me so I'd imagine it's normal and I forgot to mention during my visit with the surgeon today. I get them on my mid to lower right abdomen and right above my left breast. It's a funny feeling almost like a light buzz in me under my skin.

Hi everyone! I finally decided to get the sleeve and I'm so excited! I scheduled it for a Friday and have an overnight stay. Will I be able to take my daughter out for about 3 hours? She has dance auditions the day after my surgery and I really need to be there. My hudband will drive me and all I'll do is sit there and encourage her on breaks. Am I crazy to think this is possible? I REALLY don't want to postpone for 4 weeks later. thanks everyone! Look forward to sharing my journey and encouraging everyone on their journey as well!

Any suggestions for getting rid of weakness? I'm 5 weeks post op and it seems like when I eat a popsicle (which I only eat half of each time) the weakness goes away, til I take a nap and wake up and it's there again. And is it normal that each time I see a picture of food I get repulsed by it and want to throw up? Each time I see pasta or rice, I just frown at it. When I think about going out somewhere to eat, I get discouraged and think "How am I supposed to eat that? Their servings are enough to feed two people at one time." It just bothers me because I hate wasting food and that's all I do now. Once I'm full, I don't go back and finish my plate later, I just throw it …

I'm 10 weeks in to my Gastric Bypass, after a failed Lapband. I have had a big problem finding food I can eat and getting the required protein. I was 379 lbs at my surgery and I'm already down to 301 lbs. Which is awesome for me, but protein shakes make me vomit almost right away after 6 weeks of nothing but the shakes.(2 weeks before surgery and 4 weeks after) I thought I could get protein from fish and shakes but can't seem to get them down, and stay down? Small slices of cheese along with a couple crackers and peanut butter are almost a daily staple. As is very thin deli sliced lunch meat. I had a florascope and everything looks good? When I get hungry, I get nausea an…

I had RNY surgery on 5/16/2017. I wanted VSG but my surgeon talked me into RNY based on the weight I need to lose (> 200 lbs). I have had good days since surgery but the past week have had problems with nausea and gas. I'm getting 50 - 60 oz fluids in and 60 gm protein. Lately I've been wishing I stayed with my original choice. I'm new to this forum and am hoping someone can tell me this, too, will pass! Sent from my SM-N915V using BariatricPal mobile app

I am a week and a day post-op. i'm having diarrhea issues. Everytime I eat drink i have to [emoji90]... not cool. Not to mention how weird food and drinks feel when going down. And then on top of that every time I eat or drink I feel huge air bubbles in my stomach and intestines. I don't know if this stuff is just part of the process...but i'm not happy. I'm just...struggling. Is this normal? Any advice from Sleeve veterans? Thanks, Alexis

If you are still drinking a protein shake do you count that as a "meal" or as a drink? I'm having trouble getting my protein in and I think it's because I'm keeping to a fairly strict eating schedule of every 3 hours and I'm counting my morning shake as breakfast. Then I'm eating at 9a, 12, 3p, and 6p. I'm thinking I can get an extra meal in if I consider my shake just a drink (meaning I drink it 30 mins before breakfast, not 3 hours before). I'm still losing weight consistently, and I don't feel like I'm starving myself, but I want to get my protein #'s as high as possible because I am doing Crossfit 3 x's a week and I feel very sluggish on the days I work out…

Hello everyone, I'm 9.5 months postop VSG and I have lost 88 pounds since my surgery on Sept 19th, 2016, and 108 pounds overall since my pre-op liquid diet. For the first few months postop I was eating about 600-800 calories a day, and up until today I'm still eating around 700-900 calories a day, 80-100 grams of protein, and anywhere from 20-30 grams of net carbs. A lot of people keep telling me that my calories are way too low for someone as far out as I am, and I'm worried that if I continue to eat like this that my body will adjust to a really low calorie intake and once I hit maintenance that I'll start gaining weight if I eat over 1000 calories. I want to be ab…

These couples days have been though!! Monday I was starting to really start to feel normal after my surgery in 6/29. I woke up at 4am with 102 fever and freaked out. I called the on-call doctor to make sure I didn't have an infection and she wasn't concerned because I didn't have any other symptoms accompanying it. In the morning I woke up with a sore throat and my husband checked and it looks like strep. Went to urgent care and sure enough I have strep throat. Go figure. So for the last 2 days I've felt absolutely horrible. I hope today is better.

This is probably too much information, but since rny gastric bypass in April, I only have a bowl movement once a week. I know this is pretty normal, that is not really my concern. My concern is recently I had a bowel movement, when I got up to flush I noticed there were some solid pieces of food in my bowel movement. I just recently introduced solid food to my diet. I ate broccoli and that was what was solid. I do chew my food well so I am concerned that there was solid food. Any thoughts? Should I be concerned that a solid peice of broccoli was able to go through my stoma?

Hi all, I've been on the gastric sleeve forum for a few months but now I am coming over here because today I had my EGD and my dr. Said that I may have GERD. He took a biopsy and I will have the results some time this week. If they come back positive I will likely need to change my procedure to the bypass because of the high risk of heartburn associated with the sleeve. I've never really considered the bypass before so now I am all types of nervous. My main fears are dumping syndrome and losing too much weight and looking sick. I have about 100lbs to lose. I've heard that bypass patients can lose a lot and and some times too much. Can anyone offer any insight into these …

So I had my surgery on June 28th, so only a few days post op. Since yesterday I've been having a lot of soreness in both my inner thighs. It more prominent in the morning when I'm first waking up, and It's just my inner thighs. I don't think it's a blood clot, because my sisters had them before (she's wheelchair bound) and is usually one leg with swelling, warm to touch etc). I've read it could be a deficiency of some sort? I would call my dr but it's the 4th and I don't want to bother him. My post op appointment is on the 7th, so I can try to hold out until then, but I guess I'm just curious. Has anyone ever had this before? Or know what it could be? It's not unbearable,…

I had my sleeve done on June 12th, and I know that everyone is different but I am very discouraged at the moment, the 1st week I lost a total of 14 pounds, the second week I lost 6 pounds, which was great but now i'm not loosing anything, and I mean nothing. I have been this weight for the last 4 days and sometimes I weigh myself and the scale goes up a couple of grams. I don't understand how I was down to 225.03 and this morning im up to 226.2. Did anyone go through this or is anyone going through the same situation I am? I sometimes think that I don't know what to do, I just feel like crying.

What signs are common for knowing you're full or almost there? I'm 6 weeks out today and I still can't always tell. I feel hungry a lot more often than I used to. I seem to be full after 5-6 bites but then I feel hungry again soon after. But I kind of go by a feeling I get that if I put one more bite in I'm going to want to spit it out. After a few bites my stomach kind of growls like it's hungry but then a few more bites and I get that warning. Am I doing something wrong? I just ate 3 oz of filet mignonette and 1/2 of a small baked potato an hour ago and I feel hungry now. And I am losing like a pound a week - very frustrated. Help please?
