Hey guys, newbie here! Anyways I just had my surgery on the 21st of June with my best friend. It was a last min thing (probably not the best idea) but surgery went great even with little to no clear liquid diet before surgery. We both had our days were one of us feels like crap and the other is in a good mood being a great support person. But it's just really depressing because we can't eat the foods we love and we both know its all in our heads. Im here basically right now trying to find amazing recipes we could cook up when we get to have puree foods. Im really just wanting to eat mashed potatoes right now because broth and jello is honestly getting old. We should be go…

Hi Everyone, I had surgery on June 22 followed by a required 2 night stay at the hospital. Last night was great being able to sleep in my own bed! Today has been interesting with the fluids. I have had 40oz of water and 22oz of premier protein shakes(60G of protein). My question is sometimes when drinking either one i feel this weird movement down my chest into my stomach. Kind of like a gas or cramp feeling. Just wanted to see if that was normal and if so how long it lasts! Thanks

I quit tracking about a month after my surgery. Since my food choices were so limited, it didn't make sense to track the same things every day, especially when I was eating less than 700 calories a day. I have been fluctuating between 282 and 284 for the last two weeks. This is my first stall and it's playing with my head. I know I need to start tracking my food to make sure that isn't the source of my stall. Do any of you track without using an app? I hate adding new foods or trying to find foods on the apps. It seems like it would be easier just to write it down in a notebook when you have the label right in front of you. Maybe I just need to quit bei…

I will be 3 months out on July 4th. So far I have lost 45 pounds but it takes a lot to lose...in my opinion. I must admit that I don't get in all my water most days. I am so forgetful when it comes to my vitamins but I am setting an alarm to start taking them better. I am stalking like 2 weeks at a time. Will I ever get back to losing rapidly? I want like 15-20 pounds a month...maybe I am not being realistic?

Hi! I'm Birdie, I am a 21 yr old female! I had my surgery June 21 and I feel absolutely great! My hw was 251 my sw was 245 and I'm not quite sure what my current weight is. Below is a picture of me right before surgery. Right now I'm on the stage 2 liquid diet [emoji21], and I'm on a pretty good mood overall. If anyone has some stage 2 full liquid diet tips send them my way! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app

Last night, I could not warm up. My BONES hurt so bad, I was so cold. I took a hot shower and was literally shivering standing under the hot water. I used to be the "hot one" in my office where I work and now I keep my vent covered and a sweater on. The a/c is only set on 74 but I am just freezing! I go for my next dr. appt this Friday and I will ask but wondering if any of you veterans have already had this question?

I am so glad I found this forum. I am 5 days post op and I am struggling with how much my taste has changed. I cannot stand anything sugar-free. It is waaaay too sweet. I drank the Preimer shakes before surgery and it is so sticky sweet that I have to water it down. I have added unflavored protein powder to jello and it still gags me. I'm so nervous that I won't be able to get enough protein in. Anyone else have these issues and what helped? I know it will be easier in a few weeks when I can add more food, but I am struggling right now.

I'm really looking for some reassurance from people who are losing weight very successfully. I lost 17 lbs after my first 12 days post op, and I have not lost anything else in a week. I know about the early stalls and I keep telling myself that is probably what's wrong. I just want to make sure that what I'm eating sounds right to you guys, incase I should be eating more..or eating less. I started adding a very slow jog to my walk yesterday, along with some arm exercises, so I'm going to see if that helps. Each day, I have 2 protein shakes and a greek triple 0 yogurt. The 1st shake is bariatric advantage vanilla and has 25 g protein, 2 g fat, 4 g Carb and 150 calo…

Hi Guys, I'm 19 days Post -OP had some complications with dehydration and was admitted after the second week. Spent another week in the hospital getting fluids. I had a follow up appointment yesterday and was put on puréed foods. OMG!! My fist stop was Taco Bell for some refried beans. As soon as I ate it I threw up none stop. I tired different puréed foods but I can't keep anything down. So I'm back on liquids the only thing that seems to agree with me right now. I was really looking forward to starting puréed foods but it's been a nightmare all I do it vomit until I'm throwing up bile. My doctor did explain I have a tight sleeve considering my stomach was already prett…

So today, I had my VSG. I'm sore, exhausted, but so excited. I cheated on my pre op diet (little did I know, I could have eaten veggies!) so my surgeon was unsure whether or not she would be able to do the surgery this morning. Talk about being nervous and scared. But it was my own fault... When I woke up in recovery, she said my liver was great! And the surgery was successful. I cried and high fived her and passed out again. I remember her saying I wouldn't remember that conversation, but I did! I had a small panic attack in the OR because it was so much going on, but they were all so sweet and made me feel so much more calm about the whole thing... and I woke up to h…

I'm really....I don't know...lost? I'm 4 days out and all I want to do is eat! I thought this surgery would help with that. I don't understand what the heck I'm supposed to be doing, other than clear liquids. I can't tell the difference between "I'm full", "I'm bloated with gas", "I'm having a spasm in my stomach", and "I'm hungry". It all feels the same! Presurgery, I would know how hungry I truely was by the intensity of my food craving. Post-surgery, the cravings are pretty intense! Is it because I'm sick to death of the stupid clear liquid diet? I mean, I've been on this stupid diet for 19 days now! And I hate sweets! I'd give just about anything for chef salad, or a …

What can I do when I'm hungry in these hours I'm awake? I don't eat I go to sleep hungry and wake up in so much hunger and pain.

Hi guys so I'm 10 days post op, the doctor removed my staples today and it hurt a bit. My belly button is a sore because he had to take out the staples from there. (They removed part of the tummy from my belly button). Okay so my questions [emoji4] does it hurt when you shower and wash over the incisions? I'm so scared now. Also, how long has it taken for the incisions to close? Mine are obviously still open so not sure if it will burn if soap is applied there. Please help...[emoji120][emoji8][emoji173]️thanks in advance

Hi Everyone- I am new to the forum as I joined before having surgery on June 7th to see other people's stories and experiences with the surgery as I was still trying to decide what surgery to have. I too like so many others have battled with my weight all my life; 1st diet was when I was in the fourth grade (no kiddin) and lost allot as I entered high school, gained it back after high school, then lost allot and kept it off longer 10+ years then medical issues kicked in and I gained it all back and then was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and pre diabetes. I couldn't imagine living my life like this and was so tired of battling with my weight and continue to have health …

I had my sleeve done June 22. My doctor left a pain ball connected to my stomach via small tubes and told my husband he could take them out super easy, when I was ready. Not sure if anyone else had one of these but I am so ready to not have tubes on me. But I am hesitant to take it off yet since I don't know how much pain it is preventing. Has anyone had one of these and if yes, when did you get it off? I could have had it taken off the morning after my surgery but it still had a lot of medicine left in it.

I cannot break my old habit of eating too fast. I was really good in beginning and it would take me an hour to get through a meal. I don't feel hungry but when I eat I enjoy the food so much that I end up eating it way too fast. I've tried using timers and apps to help slow it down. It makes my acid reflux worse. Anyone got any tips?

I just had my sleeve done 2 days ago. As much as I love plain water all day, I need something else as well. Anyone have a suggestion of what tastes good? Also, are little sips of carbonated drinks every once in awhile bad? I have self-control, so I don't see myself drinking the whole can.

I am one week post op. I have a son with severe autism. My husband has been keeping him away from me as he is aggressive at times and has kicked me in the stomach before. He also likes to play by putting his feet up to you for you to do this little piggy. He often sticks his feet into your stomach while doing this. The only incident we have had so far is when he tried to sit in my lap. He is almost 14 years old. How long are my incisions going to be sore. I'm going to have to start caring for him in one week, husband has to go back to work.

I am almost 4 months out from RNY and now I have to have a hysterectomy!!! I am worried what this will do with my weight loss. I talked to my bariatric doctor who agreed I need to have it done. She said it might slow my weight loss process. I am a slow loser anyways I have lost 52 lbs since surgery and 43 on my 6 month diet before surgery.

I'm about 14 months post surgery and I've been running a lot lately. In the past couple weeks I've been running every day and for at least 2-3 miles, sometimes 4-6 miles. Of course I've been hungrier since the exercise picked up, but because of the wls I've been able to control it and not eat much. But I'm seeing a stall on my weight loss. I have about 10 more pounds until my goal weight. Could the running be stalling the loss? If so, how can I combat it?? Thanks in advance!!!

I am just shy of 3 months post-op and I have lost 41lbs since my surgery April 3rd, but I have lost a total of 87lbs. I want to lose an additional 60lbs by the beginning of the year and I'm pretty sure that I can do this. I am however craving some nice warm chocolate chip cookies. I currently walk 5-6 miles Monday thru Friday. I have done really well with what I've eaten but I sure do want a treat.

Oh my gosh, has anyone tried any of the BP microwave packets of their entrees? I bought a couple of the hamburger helper type protein entrees and the one kind I tried was so disgusting that I literally will never be able to try the other kinds. I am very sensitive to gross chemical-y flavors and IDK if it's the protein or just the whole of all the ingredients but I swear I can still smell the funk in my apartment weeks after cooking it, and I can smell it through the package in my pantry and it's making me gaggy just thinking about it!! I bought several options to try before my surgery so I'd have an idea what I could stomach...and I have learned that I can't stomach them…

Hello, I hope everyone here is doing well on their weight loss journey! I'm posting this because I've been having some serious mental health difficulties after surgery and I don't know what to do. I just need to reach out to other people here who understand the struggles of bariatric surgery and who would be so kind as to offer any words of advice or support. I had VSG surgery 9 months ago on Sept. 19th, 2016. I started at 285 pounds before Opti and I'm at 180lbs right now, putting me at a total loss of 105 pounds so far. At my ultimate highest weight I was 310lbs. My ultimate goal weight after surgery is 150lbs (I'm 5' 7") and I'm trying SO hard to try and make…

I am currently four months post op. I and able to eat a lot more than I thought I would be. I can eat a boca burger and a half a cup cottage cheese for a meal. I feel satisfied and I'm not full. I'm 25 days Post-Op and everything was going well until I reached soft foods. I keep experiencing minor heart burn/indigestion. I have had this things pre sleeve so I am familiar with the feeling however it seems to persist longer and longer each day. I am eating mild foods only and avoiding spice, citrus, and anything else known to give me heartburn but it seems that no matter what I eat it persists. Is this GERD or am I paranoid? It also seems that everything I eat lately (other than yogurt) has been leaving with me with a queasy feeling. Am I eating too quickly? Has anyone else experienced any of this? Thanks for your help!

I am 10 weeks post op. Today actually! TMI- I was straining to have a BM. And I felt a slight "pop" feeling. Freaked me out. I have a tender spot on my "stomach" area if I touch it. Being 10 weeks- I and THINKING it was just an internal dissolvable stitch I may have popped. Hoping it was already on its way out. I feel fine. I'm just having this image of I've ruined everything. My pouch is ripped at some point. Surely 10 weeks it has healed but I know the dissolvable stitches can take months. Any insight??? :))

I've had a very uncomfortable afternoon. I have what feels like a huge air bubble in my sleeve and it feels like I want to burp it out, but I can't. This led to a rather extreme bout of hiccups. They stopped but the very uncomfortable feeling continues. I first noticed this feeling after eating my morning soup but I laid down for awhile and it seemed to subside until I got up and attempted to drink some herbal tea. The only thing I have done different today was that my doctor added a couple of new pills to my regimen. I already struggle with getting all my pills down, since most of my pills are extended release and therefore can't be split or crushed. I was su…
