Since my surgery, I have been doing pretty good, but I'm so depressed and I don't know why.. I almost feel numb, to be honest. I'm wondering if maybe this could be post op depression... Has anyone experienced it? What did you do to make things better?

I have a question about the vitamin schedule. I was told that I need to wait 2 hrs between each dose of calcium and the multivitamin. So I take a multi vitamin in the morning then surging the day every 2-3 hrs the calcium for 3 doses then the other multi vitamin at bedtime. But sometimes I forget the second vitamin. Is it ok to take both multi vitamins in the morning? Or does anyone have an easier routine? Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi All, I am almost 4 months post-op and have lost only 34lbs. I hit stalls quite frequently and have been in a stall for past 3 weeks now. Is this normal since this is very discouraging. Also, I am pretty conscious of what I eat and restrict my diet to around 700-800calories per my NUTs advice but I am always hungry. I crave sweets and carbs which I never did before my Sleeve. Again, is this normal.... Please HELP

I'm almost 4 weeks out and moving towards more solids. I've tried tracking calories in the past and it was sooooo frustrating that I stopped. As part of this new journey I would like to track protein, carbs, and calories so I can make sure I'm getting the right amounts and not over eating. The biggest area I struggled with is how to track recipes and meals at restaurants. I won't be eating out for a while but would like tips and resources to better track foods. I do have a scale so I will be using that as well but are there other resources/tips that I should consider? Is MFP good for calculating recipes (I see it has the options to enter all the ingredients to determine t…

How everyone I just had my vsg surgery on 5/22/17. I am almost 3 weeks out I feel great, my incision are almost heal I am tolerating liquids fine the only problem I encounter was not liking none of the protein shakes. My last resource was the sugar free carnation breakfast & I like it. The only problem is I was worried because 13 grams of protein per shake is not enough to meet the requirements so I bought fairlife milk that have 13 grams of protein plus the the shake makes it 26 grams of protein in each shake. Just putting it here just in case anyone else have a similar situation or problems with the protein shakes. I am very excited with this new journal I am starti…

Today I went shopping and was so happy I got teary-eyed in the fitting room. Size 18 to size 10 in about 5 months. At my last NUT visit, she didn't seem too impressed. Am I supposed to be losing faster? It's not easy but I'm determined to keep this going!

I've been the same weight for an entire week and I'm frustrated! I was just sleeved on 5/31 and including pre-op (2 weeks liquid) I'm down 22 lbs. 15 of those were from the pre-op diet. I'm doing everything by the book so I can't understand why I'm stuck. Anyone have advice? (I'm a once a week weigher, not daily) Thanks in advance!

Please tell me I'll feel better tomorrow....and the next day...and so on! I got sleeved this morning and I'm miserable right now, trying to go to bed. I'm pretty sure it is gas pain and I've been walking as much around the house as I can since I got home. I've taken a few GasX...both chewable and melt strips. I've only been able to take about 15 ounces of water and one 20 gram protein drink (Muscle Milk). Because I've had so little, I only took 1/2 my pain pill just so I can sleep tonight. Any words of encouragement for this mama?! Thank you!!

I am 6 weeks post op and in the soft food stage. Friday night was my first time going out with my entire family. My nephew just turned 17 so dinner and cake is the party. I have to say I did very well and didn't have much issue with everyone eating what I used to. I have to say I was beside myself with how much they all ate and it made me really see how out of control I was when I was able to eat whatever I wanted. It was such an eye opener for me.... 3-4 baskets of chips and salsa, fries on top of fries, burgers, fried chicken and then cake... I have to say I thought I would miss that or feel left out. That was not the case, in fact I loved my dish I got from the lighter…

Hey everyone so 5 days out of surgery. I am becoming stronger each day but I find myself out of breath sometimes and I have a bruise on my left side ribcage that's swollen and blue. That's the only pain I have right now and my belly button (which is where they pulled out my tummy). Anyone else have bruises and trouble breathing? I will contact my doctor on Monday about it. I'm seeing him on Friday to remove the staples as well.

I had my lap band on August 2008 and have not had any problems other than an occasional food blockage. Lost 90 pounds and at 8o years old I feel great but could lose another 30 pounds. Today I am in trouble. I made the mistake of having grilled chicken for lunch it was to dry and I am now blocked. It has been 3 hours and it will not break up. I tried walking , sipping hot tea which only caused slimming. So while I am not in any discomfort I cannot drink or eat. Does any one have any suggestions. I do not want to go to the ER. Any advice would be appreciated. Herb

Just got back from a family trip to Disney World. My surgery was 4 months ago but we booked the trip ages before that. At the time the meal plan seemed like a good idea, but now that my bandwidth for any kind of food is so low, and the eateries have such ridiculously huge portion sizes, I got a lot of puzzled, even wounded looks from waiters. We ate in "France" one night- I loved the French onion soup (my new obsession) but the entre was monster (half a chicken??) and frankly a bit bland. The waiter was quite galled (pun intended) that this fat guy was turning his nose up at the, not even taking home his leftovers. Anyhow, appealing to my devious sense of humor. …

Hi! Had VSG in December and at the time my gallbladder bladder was in great shape. Last Tuesday however, I had just eaten almonds and I had the most horrific pain imaginable for about 45 minutes. I was rushed to the ER by coworkers because I was also getting really red in the face, arms, face, and neck. It looked like i was having an allergy attack. Got to the hospital and after about 45 minutes I felt normal again, just tired. The ER doctor still insisted I stay for an ultrasound on my gallbladder. Glad I did that because I now have a gallbladder full of stones. I saw my VSG surgeon the day after and an appointment was made for this coming Friday for removal. My …

Hi. I had a vsg on Feb 28th of this year. I was on pantoprazole for a required 3 months. I then stopped as I generally do not want to be on a ppi and I don't have gerd. It's been almost 3 weeks now and I have generalized stomach pain. I cant always discern if I have pain when I eat or after. I just know my stomach is upset and it doesn't feel right. I don't kow if this is because I stopped the ppi or if it's just that I'm still adjusting to my new stomach. Has anyone else dealt with this and how did you get through it? Thanks.

So Monday was day 19 post op and (with my surgeons blessing) I went back to Crossfit. I used to work out 5 days a week, but I wanted to ease back in and told myself I would only go Monday, Wednesday, & Friday. Well, after Monday & Wednesday I was so sore that I skipped Friday. Instead I walked briskly around a track with a friend (who is getting sleeved next month!) for 1.5 hours. After doing yard work today I had the urge to get my sweat on, so our family (me, H, & 3 daughters) went on a 1.5 hr walk/hike at a local wildlife reserve that has lots of hills. I was exhausted after but glad I got in 4 days of exercise this week. My alarm is already set for …

After about 9 weeks, I am finally cooking again. Made egg salad for breakfast and this Thai Red Curry Stew for the rest of the day. It is a vegetarian recipe, but I loaded it with baked chicken breast and thighs. Very, very tasty. Really been craving some veggies! https://cookieandkate.com/2015/thai-red-curry-recipe/

Hey guys.[emoji255] I was raised to eat everything on my plate. We could not leave the table until our plates were clean no matter what time it was. I feel guilty leaving anything on my plate. I bought a child's plate and silverware to help. It's still hard. Also I have had so many problems since my RNY Gastric Bypass on 4/19/17. I have just been cleared for regular food. What are some recipes and ideas for still some soft food during the transition to regular food. I can feel my stomach is still sensitive. I can feel it. Any help would be great. Thx. Nutri relgiously preaches low carb, high protein. Surgeon equally staunch in a low carb high fat plan (dietdoctor.com). Is the low carb the main thing, and figuring out the fat to protein mix is left to me? (No one size fits all kinda thing)

Hi, folks! I began participating on this site a couple of weeks after my RNY. Somehow I got sidetracked to Obesity Help, where after a couple of weeks I found some of the members to be rude, opinionated, and otherwise not much fun to be around. It was like being part of a 12-step recovery program. I don't need that at this point in my life. Anyway, I'm here to share and support. Seven weeks out and things are going OK. I need to be more active. Still struggling to get enough protein each day. Would like to consume most of it through meat, but simply can't eat that much---which is GOOD, right? That's the whole point. My main concern now is focusing on losing fat…

Hi everyone, hope all is doing well. I didn't want to post this but I am not sure what else to do. I apologize for the uncomfortable topic but I figured if anyone would know it would be someone on here. Anyways, so I had my RnY on the 8th and have been having horrible gas pains for days now. I understand that this is normal. And I haven't had a bowel movement in days. I am so constipated it's painful. I have been using miralax with my protein shakes and been trying to increase my water intake but I am just at a loss. What I want to know is, how long after surgery was it before you experienced a good bowel movement and how long did the gas pains last?

My surgery was early Tuesday morning. They finally discharged me late Thursday afternoon after trying to decide if they should keep me another night. I begged to go home and they let me. The sleeve portion of the surgery went perfectly smooth. Apparently my gallbladder was about to "burst at the seams" and was one of the worst my doc had ever seen. He was perplexed as to why it had never given me problems. He took that sick, enlarged, sucker right on out of me. That is where I am having the excruciating pain now. But it's a little more tolerable each day. I'm working on getting all of my water down and taking a lot of naps. Thank you for all of your support. Despite how I…

So for the past week and a half, I've had a cold. I was hoarse last week, but a few days into that, I began to cough. I mean, coughing to the point of where i'm dry heaving. My lungs are clear; there's no mucus rattling around in there, and my cold is pretty much gone, but i'm still coughing like an old man with emphysema, ESPECIALLY when I lay down. I finally decided to research coughing and why it's triggered so much when I lay down. I got alot of answers back relating to acid reflux. Everything is making so much more sense to me now! I took two tums a while ago...my stomach has settled and I havent coughed in the last 15 minutes or so. Who woulda thunk it? …

I'm one month post-op and I've been on the best behavior when it comes to my diet. Calculating, measuring, logging, all that good stuff. Today, I started a new job and went to my new hire orientation. Breakfast was served and unfortunately all they had were bagels. I was sad. I ended up rushing out of my house this morning because I wanted to make sure I wasn't late and all I was only able to grab my RTD protein shake. Three hours into my orientation I started feeling woozy and that's my usual sign that I need to eat something. I still had 2 more hours until lunch so I ended up grabbing one side of a bagel with a small amount of cream cheese and took about 4-5 bites. The …

Hello, My surgery date is June 16th. I started a liquid diet starting on June 2nd. In doing the liquid diet, I have realized how much I rely on food to bring my anxiety down and I have lost that coping method. Has anyone else experienced this and did it get much worse after surgery? How have you coped with this? I am currently seeing a therapist and plan to continue seeing one.

Work meetings all week. Today they had a sundae bar. I showed restraint and stayed away. But I craved ice cream all afternoon. This evening I picked up some Halo ice cream and decided to have a couple Of spoonfuls. I used to love the stuff pre-surgery. Now it's like NO. Tasted so odd and left a strange after taste. Which is great actually. No more ice cream cravings. Sleeved 5/5 Down 35 pounds [emoji4]

So Just had surgery 6/2/17 and nothing is sitting well with my stomach everything causes gas and pain.... I just want to be able to get to the mashed potatoes phase... feel like I'm hungry but the SF jello makes my stomach absolutely turn! And I can only consume about half a popsicle before my pain develops. When I have broth I end up with a gross aftertaste and burping it up constantly. Anyone have any suggestions or experiences with this?

I've been making this lately and it's so good and satisfying! (Im 8 months post op so no food restrictions as long as they are healthy) BLT, but I use iceberg lettuce instead of bread. For me personally, I watch my carbs and don't worry as much about fats. I use crisp bacon, tomato, mayo, and iceberg.

Surgery date was 5/19 so almost two weeks. Thought I would update. I have to be honest, the first 3 - 4 days sucked! Nothing specific to the RNY just surgery in general (and I am a baby). Incision pain and internal stomach pain was not good. Spent 4 days in the hospital which was fine. Lots of pain meds and the nursing staff was awesome. I came hope totally scared of the new "system", i.e. digestive system. Worried I would eat to much or to fast or too hot, too cold, etc. Slowly figured how it works. Not as sensitive as I thought. Incisions still hurts but they have started to itch whis is a good sign. Had to rip off the steri-strips. Tired but getting bet…

I'm 8 months post op and haven't been able to enjoy tomato sauces because in the USA, they put sugar in everything! It's sooo annoying. I even went online to find a recipe, but it calls for tomato paste, which in the store has added sugar!! Does anyone know of a true low/no sugar tomato sauce? Store bought or recipe? I don't mind the small amount of natural sugar in the tomato itself. It's the added sugar/corn syrup/fructose crap that add I want to avoid. I found a recipe for lasagna using portobello instead of noodles and all I need is a no-sugar added tomato sauce. Why does the US have to add sugar to everything?
