  8. I had VSG one year ago today. Best decision of my life. I’m down 98 pounds since surgery and 112 pounds since the start of my pre-op diet. Weight day of surgery was 252. Today I am 154. It took me 9 months to lose the weight and I’ve been maintaining between 151 and 156 for the past three months. While I’d like to get below 150, maintaining in the range I am in has been a breeze. Plus, I am at a healthy BMI. I was so hesitant to go through this process. I was border line diabetic, had sleep apnea, chronic back pain, and low energy. I was afraid of the unknowns of VSG, but I refused to let fear make the decision for me. I want to encourage anyone like me to choose VSG. Maybe some day I’ll get the courage to post before and after pics!

  10. Like many previous posters, I sell and buy clothing on eBay. It’s been expensive rebuilding my casual and work wardrobes now that I’m at goal, but I’ve managed to save a lot finding new/gently used items on eBay.

  18. Today marks 9 months post op for me. Down 113 pounds from high weight and 98 pounds from surgery weight. Weighed in at 153.9 pounds this morning and finally at a normal BMI. This process has been a gift and I cannot express how much better I feel. No more achy joints or sleep apnea. I feel good about the way I look for the first time in a long time. I am still learning to moderate as I introduce some limited sweets and whole grains into my diet. I’m hoping to drop another 10 pounds and aim to maintain my weight under 150. For those of you just starting your journeys, stick to your doctor’s plans and you will be amazed by the results! I was very worried about long term success and I still fear backslides, but I feel more confident about long term success with each passing day. Stay strong in this fight, everyone! You can do it!
  19. Nine months post op today and I still start every day with a premier protein mixed with decaf and benefiber. Sometimes I add a scoop of vital proteins marine collagen. It takes me about 40 minutes to drink it all so I feel like I’m having a nice long binge. [emoji23]
  20. Ha! I said the same. Can’t call me skinny until I am a “normal” weight. Darn BMI!
  21. I’m nine months post-op tomorrow. Someone called me “tiny” today. First time I’ve been called that in a non-ironic way! Very strange to hear and difficult to comprehend.
  22. This advice is spot on, no matter what your age, gender, or weight is. Nicely said.
  23. Almost 9 months post op for us July 2017 sleevers! Anyone still checking in here? I’m down 109 pounds and feeling spectacular. I’ve surpassed my goal of 160 pounds. Think I’m going to aim for 150 and strive to keep my weight between 150 and 160 for the long term. It feels very strange to be at a point where I really don’t need to lose any more weight. I haven’t been at that point for years. If I’m not obsessed with losing weight, what will I be obsessed with?!
  24. Excellent work! I am working on losing that 10 pound buffer weight right now.
  25. I’m seven months out and I eat around 900-1100 calories a day on average. It just kind of depends on the day.

  27.    Redo2017 reacted to a post in a topic: Can we talk about boobs and bras?
  28. I’ve lost 100 pounds and my boobs look like tennis balls in tube socks. I definitely need new bras but I can’t figure out how to measure my saggy boobies. God knows I’m not letting someone else lift these things to measure them. I’d be mortified.
  29. This is great advice, but it’s application can be tricky for those with food addiction. There has to be major mindset and habit change before some of us can have confidence in the ability to maintain. I’m trying to focus on that change so that I can get to the point where any regain is an “easily resolved problem” because in my years of dieting it never was.

  31. Oh yea. I share your same concerns. I wish I had something comforting to say, but at just shy of seven months out I’m still trying to figure it out myself.
