OK guys and gals....I will probably be having my surgery in November. I have almost finished all my pre op appointments. I am getting a little nervous but still excited. I weigh in at 237 lbs, 5'5". My Cholesterol is super high, I sweat terribly, and I have high BP. I am hoping this surgery helps with all of this. So, how much weight did everyone lose that is around my stats? Hello all! Just wondering if anyone has been going through what I have been. Last year I lost 40 lbs but now I have gained it all back. My doctor referred me to the sleeve due to health reasons (high BP and High Cholesterol) My mom is mad about it and won't even discuss it with me. My friends are trying to get me to start a gym membership with them and said I can lose weight to fast to go through this surgery. They said they worry about me. I am 5'5" and I weigh 240 lbs. I get this gasp of "OMG, you are having that dangerous surgery" when I mention it to someone. My husband was not for it until my first app. Now he is for it, not 100%, but is not trying to talk to out of it. Also, now I am afraid I have GERD and the doctor will want me to have gastric bypass instead of sleeve, which I will refuse, and all this will be a waste. Shew, just torn. Thank you all so much for the replys. So glad this journey has been a life changing experience. I think I will do this so my life can improve as well. I am not severely over weight, weighing in at 240, 5'4", but to be 36 yrs old and have a total cholesterol of 262 and high BP I feel right now is the prime time in my life to get this started. Hello all. I am considering the sleeve due to my health issues, my doctor also recommended it. With that said, I would like to know how this procedure helped with health issues you had.
